In a back-and-forth striking affair between TUF: Nations winner, Chad Laprise, and the tough Bryan Barberena, it was the Canadian that got the nod on the scorecards.
Laprise got off to an early start with big high kicks against a nearly immobile Bryan Barberena. Laprise cornered his opponent slammed big kicks to the arms of his opponent, and lit him with punching combinations.
The second and third rounds proved to be more competitive as Bryan finally got his footwork going for him. He was able to back Laprise up and get off with some better strikes through his patented forward-pressure. Laprise was forced to throw while moving backwards and fight off clinch attempts, but he adjusted just as well.
Ultimately, the close and competitive affair ended on the scorecards with a surprisingly dominant reading in favor of the Canadian. Laprise seemingly slowed down throughout the course of the contest and let his Barberena get back into the fight, but Laprise’s counter-striking and kicking game earned him the judge’s favor.
