Spike TV to Air Bader-Schafer, Hardonk-Barry UFC 104 Prelims on October 24
Spike TV today announced that they will broadcast a portion of the UFC 104 preliminary card live on October 24, with Ryan Bader vs. Eric Schafer and Antoni Hardonk vs. Pat Berry set to air during the one-hour, commercial-free telecast with additional fights possible to air if time permits.
Spike TV and the UFC debuted the one-hour preliminary card broadcasts in September at UFC 103, as the pay-per-view event headlined by Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort went head-to-head with Floyd Mayweather’s return to boxing.
UFC 104 is headlined by light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and also features Ben Rothwell vs. Cain Velasquez, Josh Neer vs. Gleison Tibau, Spencer Fisher vs. Joe Stevenson, and Anthony Johnson vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida.

Bader vs. Schafer will be a great fight! Schafer impressed me a a lot vs. Alexander.

yeah he can take some shots. i thought for sure alexander would get the tko but schafer sub’d him.
Bader looks green to me still. I think schafer will sub him like he did against alexander.
Good stuff, hopefully they have all the technical stuff figured out this time, but hey this is just really nice… I wanted to see these fights and now I will, it might be GOODER than a MOtherEffer
The growth of the ufc equals alot of good things man, i am very impressed with the growth of the talent in the ufc. i guess them cutting people put a fire under a few peoples asses. never thought i would look forward to shaffer fighting
I hope this prelims thing becomes permanent. It looks like it might be, or they might just be using for the cards they think need a little boost. 2 good fights 2 air IMO.
Me too carls, when we go out to Hooters or Wings n Rings for the fights we like to beat the crowd. Being able to get some preliminary fights to go with the preliminary drinks is something I could get used to.
I can’t imagine why the UFC WOULDN’T keep airing prelims before PPVs.
Its not like SpikeTV has a sh!tload of other ratings-worthy programming, so if this makes the fans happy, possibly scores some last minutes buys for the PPV, and scores SpikeTV some elevated ratings, it’s a win/win/win.
Not to mention the perk of catching a decent fight, like Schafer/Bader looks to be…
