UFC Fight Night 64 Results And Play-By-Play

Mirko Cro Cop

The UFC’s first card ever in Poland is under way, and the main card is about to begin. In the main event, legendary heavyweight Mirko “Cro Cop” will attempt to avenge his 2007, KO loss to Gabriel Gonzaga.

Let’s move to the action.

Joanne Calderwood vs. Maryna Moroz

Calderwood fires a couple of kicks but eats a right hand from Moroz. The latter follows up with some kicks. Calderwood lands a nice kick to the body. Moroz plants a hard left and then a couple of stiff rights. Moroz clinches up. Wow. Moroz drops to her back and swings for an armbar. Calderwood taps. Beautifully done.

Moroz gets up on the cage and points at strawweight champ Joanna Jędrzejczyk. The two exchange a few words. Interesting.

Pawel Pawlak vs. Sheldon Westcott 

Westcott charges out and pushes Pawlak to the fence. Westcott briefly takes the Polish fighter down. Westcott fires in a couple of shots from the clinch and is still looking for the takedown. The Canadian takes Pawlak down again but can’t keep him there. The welterweights are still clinched up against the cage. Pawlak hits a nice trip and takes top position. Westcott scrambles out and pushes Pawlak to the fence again. Round ends.

Round 2: Pawlak fires a knee that briefly puts Westcott on the mat. The latter gets back up and pushed Pawlak to the fence once more. Westcott sweeps Pawlak done but the welterweight gets right back to his feet. Some fans start to boo. Westcott continues to clinch up but isn’t landing anything telling. Ref breaks them up. Pawlak lands a left hand. Pawlak throws a knee as Westcott shoots in but it misses. Westcott looks tired. Action spills to the mat and Pawlak is on top. Westcott briefly gets up but is dragged back down.Pawlak is in side mount and lands a couple of elbows. Round ends. Fight could be at one round a piece.

Round 3: Westcott lands a left but takes a hard right. Pawlak is chucking some hard shots but Westcott clinches up once again. Pawlak attempts a trip but Westcott doesn’t go down. Westcott briefly trips Pawlak down but the latter gets right back up. Pawlak hits another nice throw and Westcott is on his back. Pawlak lands a few elbows from the top. Westcott gives up his back but manages to work his way out. Westcott pushes Pawlak to the cage. Pawlak breaks free and throws a couple of kicks that miss. Final bell sounds.

Jan Blachowicz vs. Jimi Manuwa

Blachowicz lands a stiff jab to begin the fight. Manuwa wings a couple of hard counters. Manuwa fires off a hard hook that’s blocked. Manuwa digs a left hand to the body and pushed Blachowicz to the cage. Manuwa looks for a takedown but Blachowicz moves off the cage. Manuwa throws a couple of kicks and Blachowicz clinches up. Manuwa has Blachowicz up agains the fence. Ref breaks them up. Manuwa charges pushes Blachowicz to the cage again. Blachowicz reverses positions. They break away from the cage. Blachowicz fires a hard uppercut to the body. Manuwa eats a jab but plants a leg kick. Round ends.

Round 2: Blachowicz’s staying busy with his jab. Manuwa continues to load up on his shots. Manuwa takes an eye poke. Blachowicz throws a hard kick to the body. Another kick from Blachowicz. Manuwa chucks a kick that’s blocked and they clinch up. Manuwa has Blachowicz up against the fence and is firing knees to the latter’s thigh. Blachowicz lands a quick elbow. Manuwa pushes the Polish light-heavyweight to the cage again. Fans start to jeer. Manuwa plants a kick to the body. Blachowicz throws a nice knee and follows up with a punch. Manuwa responds with a thumping shot to the body. Round ends.

Round 3: Both men come out firing. Blachowicz continues to land with his jab. Manuwa fires off a hard overhand right. Manuwa’s leg kick is checked. They clinch up. Blachowicz grazes Manuwa with a head kick. Manuwa flurries in and has Blachowicz up against the fence. Ref breaks them up. They clinch up again. Manuwa comes in with several shots again and pushes Blachowicz to the cage. Blachowicz changes levels but can’t get the takedown. Blachowicz throws a nice combination but eats a shot. Manuwa fires a hard right and several big knees. Round ends. Close fight.

In his post-fight interview, Manuwa said he incurred an injury recently and considered pulling out of the bout.

Mirko “Cro Cop” vs. Gabriel Gonzaga

Gonzaga lands the first punch of the fight. Gonzaga follows up with a big right that grazes Cro Cop’s head. The latter is being very cautious. Gonzaga lands a body kick and then eats a jab. Gonzaga charges in and gets the takedown. Gonzaga is stuck in half guard but eventually passes into mount Cro Cop’s in trouble here. Gonzaga tries throwing some shots from above but is forced to scramble as Cro Cop goes for a leg lock. Wow. Now Gonzaga is doing the same. Cro Cop escapes but is still on the bottom. Gonzaga hasn’t been able to land much from the top yet. Round ends.

Round 2: Not much going on. Gonzaga attempts a kick. Cro Cop loads up on a left straight that misses. The Croatian fires a head kick that misses and then takes a low blow. Action resumes. Gonzaga comes charging in as Cro Cop unloads and gets the takedown. Gonzaga is in half guard. Cro Cops attempts to push Gonzaga off but can’t. The latter eats an elbow. Gonzaga passes into mount. The heavyweight fires down a few punches. Gonzaga comes down with a hard elbow and Cro Cop is cut. Round ends.

Round 3: Cro Cop comes out and there is a large cut visible by his left eye. Cro Cop throws a few jabs. Gonzaga shoots in but Cro Cop darts away. Gonzaga charges in and pushes Cro Cop to the cage. Gonzaga lands a hard knee to the body. Whoa. Both men flurry with some hard shots. Cro Cop lands a hard elbow and Gonzaga is stunned. Gonzaga rolls to his back. Cro Cop is in Gonzaga’s guard. The latter takes a couple of thumping elbows. Yikes. Gonzaga is a bloody mess and turtles. The fight is stopped. What a comeback for Cro Cop.
