Kevin Randleman

  • Former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman will look to get back in the win column after losing to Mike Whitehead at a June Strikeforce event, facing off against undefeated Stanislav Nedkov at Sengoku 11. [MMAJunkie]
  • DEEP’s “45th Impact” will include a “Guam vs. Japan” format which will include Guam champions Justin Cruz (140 lbs) and Roque Martinez (Heavyweight). Cruz’s opponents could either be DEEP featherweight champion Takafumi Otsuka or bantamweight champion Masakazu Iminari, since he normally fights between those weights. Martinez’s opponent will likely be Yusuke Kawaguchi if he wins his upcoming bout against Seigo Mizuguchi. The event is scheduled to take place in December. [BloodyElbow]
  • .Cage Force will be holding an October 25th event featuring Katsuhiko Nagata vs. Daisuke Hoshino and Tetsu “Hadairo” Suzuki vs. Isao Terada, among other contests.[BloodyElbow]
  • Former Sengoku Lightweight Champion Satoru Kitaoka will face off against Bellator semi-finalist Jorge Masvidal at WVR’s Sengoku 11 on November 7.[Tapology]
  • Following his Korean giant Hong Man Choi’s victory over Jose Canseco in the opening round of the Dream Super Hulk Tournament, US basketball star (and MMA fan) Shaquille O’Neal expressed interest in facing off against the 7-2 Choi, after his basketball career had ended. Prior to his bout Tuesday against Ikuhisa Minowa at Dream 11, MMAFanhouse asked Choi if he was open to that match up, to which he responded, “Yes, if there is a chance.” It would be no surprise if FEG promoted this fight for one of it’s Dream events, once Shaq does leave the NBA.

    Why??? Why? Why? Why? Why?

I don’t care if celebs fight. I don’t care if other athletes fight. Just, would you stop calling people out, PLEASE? They have no clue…
    Just silly

  • White_Boy says:

I could whoop GSP’s butt at an interior design showdown. Shaq and Choi seems like that. Neither should be fighting.

  • bottumzup says:

I say let em learn the hard way….

  • jardine 4 champ says:

Jardine would dominate both of them if u remember jardine started as a heavyweight and he is still top 5 easy

    • Justin says:

You need to start actually contributing to discussion, and stop being a troll, or else corrective action will be taken.

      • Vinz_Clortho says:

It is interesting that this isn’t really a trolling comment unless you don’t like Jardine. Opinions vary but as it is I find it quite amusing what is considered trolling around here sometimes.

Simply adding “jardine would kick these guys asses he is top5″ is not trolling it is an opinion and until there is actual recognized rankings who cares anyone can say anyone is anywhere in the standings. Just because someone is uninformed and a victim of TV hype does not mean they are trolling, it might just mean they saw Jardine on TV, saw he looks like a badass, saw him make a cool knock out and now thinks he is good.

Can you show me where it is proven Jardine is not top 5 UFC? I would like to see an official list of some sort, that would a fine thing.

      • Justin says:

It’s trolling for a number of reasons.
        1. This person’s only comments have been calling for Jardine to get a title shot, etc.
        2. There are more than two fighters mentioned in the article.
        3. This story is not about Jardine.
        4. The other story this person posted about Jardine on, was not about Jardine.
        5. You are now doing your own trolling trying to pick a fight with me over asking people to contribute.
        6. You already have a deep enough hole for yourself, don’t make it worse.

    • Switchbladejake says:

Jardine is not top 5. top 10 MAYBE, but top 5 isnt even close.

      • Lanny says:

Jardine isn’t anywhere near top 10 even.

Anyway posting he’s top 5 material is pulling a troll job.

  • swankcm says:

good luck monster I’ll be routin for ya Kevin is a stand up guy that has had it tough in the fight game for the last couple years but is still a highly gifted athlete.

  • jcohl says:

    Groan.
    Shaq and HMC?
    Really?
I thought Shaq was supposed to be doing TV shows after he retired, like that self-help show for overweight teens and such that he did last year.
I actually saw him last year on an [I think] E! interview and he was talking about being the next Ty Pennington [thats the d-bag from ABC's Extreme Home Makeover] when his roundball career was done.
Now he wants to join circus actus like Jose Canseco and Herschel Walker in MMA?
Not to wish specific bodily harm or grave ill on anyone, especially past-their-prime pro athletes trying to transition to MMA from other sports for one last desperate chance at glory, but maybe, just maybe, if one of these clueless wonders has his knee shredded or his arm broken in the cage, the rest will recognize that their place in MMA is cageside with guys like Michael Clarke Duncan and Kevin James…

    • E-ROC says:

Shaq has been training at Jonathan Burke’s Gracie Gym in Orlando for 10 years. So he’s not totally oblivious to the mma and the training that is required.

      • jcohl says:

Honestly, I don’t care how long guys like Shaq, or Herschel Walker, have been training MMA.
There is a huge difference between training MMA at your hometown gym, or with a friend, and stepping into the cage and facing someone who is looking to make some headlines by wrecking your decking, if you follow.
I can almost guarantee you that at some point, one of these pro athlete transplants is going to get seriously hurt, and its going to reflect poorly on our sport, which is why Dana White and the UFC steer clear of that sh!t.
Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley are one thing, having championship backgrounds in wrestling and still being in their athletic prime, but NFL and NBA retirees trying their hand at MMA is going to end badly, and I don’t want this sport’s growth hampered by misfortune because someone like Walker or Shaq just doesn’t understand when the party is over, it’s over. Period.

I’m not trying to put you on blast, e-roc, or discourage other athletes from TRAINING MMA, or even to switching to MMA if they are still in their prime.
I’m not even running down men like Walker and Shaq, who I admire for their own particular fields of achievement. But Shaq is like a kid in the candy store, in that there is no deterrent between wants and needs.
He does rap albums, movies, reality TV shows, is a reserve Miami Beach cop, serves as an nonorary US Deputy Marshall, and so on.
MMA is a very different animal.
Some wisea$$ will step in and hook him and possibly hurt him, and its MMA that will suffer a lot onger than it takes for Shaq to recover from a seperated shoulder or hyperextended knee…

  • nickageb says:

Why is it that every athlete thinks “ok, im too old to do my sport, time for MMA!” do they think it’s gonna be less demanding?
