Junie BrowningThe UFC has released lightweight Junie Browning after the controversial Ultimate Fighter 8 contestant was arrested on Tuesday in Las Vegas, according to Yahoo Sports.

Browning was arrested for allegedly assaulting three nurses at a local hospital, where he was being treated for an overdose “in an attempt to harm himself,” the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports:

After being taken to a room at the hospital, the Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter tried to leave and became angry, pushing a female nurse, punching a male nurse and kicking another male nurse, the report states.

“Do you know who I am? I will kill you and rape your family,” police said he yelled to nurses.

He was booked at the Henderson Detention Center, where he was released today.

Browning faces three counts of battery on a health care provider, according to his arrest report.

And don’t let the door hit you on the butt on the way out….

  • swankcm says:

depression and drinking or drugs are tough for any athlete I hope he finds his way and gets better he showed his drinking problem on the show definately needs some help

  • fr702 says:

I know the kid is no fan favorite but this is a serious situation and well honestly quite a concern… An overdose is no laughing manner and I’ve talked my amount of shhhh on him but com’on look at what he is being accused of and arrested for, serious stuff….

    • Figs says:

Yeah no kidding, I hear you on that. It seems like people don’t know what they’ve got until it’s gone. He seemed too sensitive and tempermental, but if he just sat back he’d probably realize he had a road ahead of him that thousands of people deeply envied.

  • Babalu says:

I know he is a controversial guy but look at how the UFC reacted to Rampage going on a much more destructive luau. They coddled him like their baby and held his little hand the whole way. I don’t think their is a difference other than financial. They are both idiots who acted out like idiots. One gets put right back on his pedestal and one gets the axe. Good ole Dana White looking out for the $$. And, lets not forget that a lot of fighters have advanced their careers after being cut by the UFC… Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva for example. Even fighters like War Machine (who could be twin of Junie for stupidity) has done just fine for himself.

  • Dexter says:

I was surprised the UFC signed him, he was always going to cast MMA fighters in a bad light. You can`t polish a turd.

  • underhooks says:

Shame him and War Machine aren’t the same weight, would be interesting to see 2 crazy dudes go at it

  • JBone says:

DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?

    If you have to ask!!!

  • DigYourOwnHole says:

I hope he gets his life together. Sounds to me like he has not been able to escape a bad childhood.

  • jpmm says:

Why would he need to harm himself when so many others would gladly save him the trouble.

  • GarRule says:

How about some sympathy for the poor male nurse who got popped one. As a big believer in personal responsibility, I hope this guy gets his act together…but if not, lock him away. Makes the world safer for people like you and me. The last thing a medical staff needs is some dope attacking them.

    • ckdiesel says:

yeah, he has had plenty of chances IMO to get his act together, but continues to act like a child. i hope that he gets prosecuted and serves time, we can all agree that will help him realise that in our society you cant go around assaulting everyone that you want. even some of the things that he did in the house were arrestable offenses, and once again has been given too many chances.

  • Calhoun_Tubbz says:

See what happens when you allow THUGS in the UFC??? ( Just waiting on the comebacks for this one……)

  • nickageb says:

Well I’m sure getting cut from the UFC will help him not “harm himself” again

  • i’m not surprised, this dude is not a pro at all, he needs to experience life some more because life will humble your a$$ and make you put things in perspectove.

I’ sick of all these nobodies like Junie Browning and Jesse Taylor who are not shhit in the fight game and always use that “do you know who i am” bullshhit that doesn’t help the sport at all, F-’N Douuchbags.

  • mma_k9 says:

What a jerk! I’ve always disliked this guy and this just prooves he hasnt changed….hope he gets stretched out in prison for a few years, hopefully that’ll shut him up. bell end

Tone it down just a tad. -Justin

  • bo702 says:

Well seeing what happened to Rampage……NOTHING……he will get a slap on the hand for all his other offenses are from another state. Lets see, I will say, anger management classes, 90 hrs. community service, and a fine!

I have been gone for awhile, but I am back!!!

  • MMAFan says:

Lots of fighters have ‘issues’. That often times is part of what makes them good fighters. And some can work past it in time and with maturity (Remember Chris Leben in TUF season 1?)

But there is a line between having ‘issues’ and being flat out dangerous to society, which this ass has proven he is. I hope the people he assaulted are ok, and they press charges to the fullest extent of the law.

    • bo702 says:

Well from Brownings track record, this isn’t his first flare up, nor his last im sure. And paper/media say he “pushed” and “kicked” hospital staff. But the severity of how it was done was unclear. By no means am I justifying what “loose cannon” did but im sure this wasnt the first time they (hospital staff) have seen this type of behavior. When more details surface im sure we will know more. I also read that his trainer Shawn will have him stay with him for now to try and help him out, but isnt this what Xtreme tried to do with him also? They saw talent, but trouble, and tried to take him in and look what he does!

      • MMAFan says:

What really disturbs me is the entitlement he seems to feel. It’s as if he thinks he is allowed to attack people because he is a pro mma fighter. And that mentality is damaging to the entire sport.

      • Bo702 says:

Well we saw what happened to Jesse Taylor running his pie hole at Palaca Station here then kicking the limo window. Granted, he was let back in and released about just as fast. He just hasnt learned that. Because you are a fighter dont mean you have to go out and show the public outside an event that you are.

  • love4thedead says:

Gillard(sp) did basically the same crap and he stayed on. Oh yeah that’s right he has talent and could eventually make the same money. And he is a refocused fighter, drug free yadda yadda yadda. Maybe junie will find his way in prison and get another chance. Just like Melvin.

  • jcohl says:

I would add that we should try and remember that Browning is a human being first, and a fighter second.
CLEARLY the man needs some sort of medical/psychiatric help, so maybe once he’s in the prison system and/or some sort of health care facility he’ll get what he needs, and be able to get on with his life.

  • MMAFan says:

It would be nice to see if Browning can get his act together, because he has the ability to be an entertaining fighter. I have my doubts whether he can or not… but then again I had doubts about Leben and he did it.

  • ZiG says:

Wow… this is soo surprising. Who would have ever seen this coming? Such a nice boy… always reading Catcher in the Rye.

R U eFfing kidding me? This is news to someone. Maybe the most piss-poor set of decisions I’ve ever seen from Dana… appeasing this lunatic in lieu of TV ratings.

  • MMAbreed says:

Cmon guys think of junie as a person not a fighter. Im probably the only guy on the site who can relate to junie. No, I would never attack nurses or pull any of the stunts he did on the show ( probably for tv anyway ) but I see alot of myself in junie. We are both the same age, and mma fighters. I had a really bad upbringing as well, abusive parents both physically and mentally, both told me I was stupid and I was worthless and wouldnt amount to anything. Embarassed me at my schools, and in public in front of people and my friends. Didnt even do anything that bad just wasnt a strong student in school. Also very controling always involved in my personal business. And to add to that I was bullied in school, and walked over by girlfriends. And because of how they treated me I suffer from anxiety, anger problems, and my self esteem is to the ground. Hell I cant even eat in public places because my anxiety is so bad. And if someone calls me stupid, even jokingly, im ready to fight. Completely ruined my life. Now normal people wouldnt understand how all these things can affect a persons life. And no, im not ****ing and moaning either. Just cant help how your raised and honestly I planned suicide at times as well. Its really easy to make jokes about him and say go to jail instead of just hoping he gets the help he needs. What he did was ****ed up and wasnt right at all, but obviously you have to be pretty messed up to do something like that. I wish you the best of luck junie get some help bro.

    • MMAFan says:

I get what you are saying completely MMABreed. Really I do. But there is a key difference between you and Junie that you noted. You would never attack nurses. He did.

      • MMAbreed says:

Yea thats true. Dont get why he would do something so stupid like that. Can you relate to anything similar to me or junie as far as upbringing?
