well I think we now know why Q. Jackson is MMA washout.

Rashad was dead correct after the fight.

Fearless prediction: Within 10 years if not sooner Mr. Jackson will be living on the streets.

Since season 2, i’ve been saying that this Rashad dude looks real cool, calm, slick yet humble, and MMA “fans” on every thread and forum were calling this guy out as being one of the cockiest, most despicable characters in the game. I’ve always felt that there must’ve been a little more to the hatred people have towards Rashad..how is he the cockiest? Have people not seen how Matt Hughes carries himself for example? Liddel, Rampage, Sylvia, Gurgel, Lesnar, Mir, etc etc etc and on and on i can go. All Rashad did on season 2 was read his books and support his team-mates, quietly won the show, then quietly went undefeated, quietly won the belt, and was completely respectful after his loss to Machida. He’s slick the way he carries himself but dude is very humble. I’d say most of Greg Jackson’s camp is, but Rashad has appeared humble since first appearing on season 2 imo. I’m just glad this season is revealing it all, that Rampage is not only a 1 dimensional fighter, but also 1 dimensional in character. MMA fans, all aboard the Evans train. Flip, then Flop….then maybe Flip again? Time will tell

Rampage washout? Maybe a bad coach but definately not a washout. Before he “retired” he was easily in the top 5 in the 205 division I think number 2.

    • Michael T says:

I don’t man, he doesn’t appear to be making people happy around him and particularly insensitive and agnry – I mean he left the UFC -why – because he was embarrassed of what will be shown on TUF maybe?

From a poker player perspective it appears he is on permanent tilt – the so-called energy drink incident, the inability to be positive, making rash unthoughtful decisions, fleeing a good thing (UFC) because maybe personal pride, – it doesn’t add up to wonderful story or bode well for future decisions.

It’s not out of hostility that I mention it.

    • Michael T says:

but yeah I guess he’s not browning….we’ll see.

      • DigYourOwnHole says:

He is worse than Browning. His “incident” resulted in a miscarage (that would be murder if you are prolife or just really jacked up if you arent).

Another way he is worse than Browning is that he is supposed to be a leader for his team, so he is ruining the MMA possibilities for his team with his ignorance, arrogance, and temper.

After tonight’s episode, I have lost all respect for the dude. I don’t care if he is a great fighter. In my opinion as a die hard fan of MMA, I think there is more to this sport than W’s. Character, heart, and respect are just as much a part in my mind. I would rather watch a dude who busts his rump to succeed be gracious after a loss than watch a top contender fight and be a jerk off after a win. My heart is attached to one and stone to the other.

      • EtherBunny says:

It was confirmed by the lady’s OB/ GYN that Rampage’s actions had nothing to do with the miscarage.

      • DigYourOwnHole says:

I reserve judgemen on that. I believe there is a pending lawsuit about it. If that is the case, the victem must disagree and probably has a different OB that said it did cause it.

I poorly chose my words in my origional post, I dont know if his actions resulted in the miscarage or not.

  • jcohl says:

I’m starting to seriously wonder how much of TUF 10 messed with Rampage’s head, and led to all of this most recent drama and his abrupt “retirement” from the UFC…

  • miggy24 says:

I’m a huge rampage fan but if he’s not in this for his teams best interest and just to get some camera time he has no place on this show. I feel bad for his team.

  • Amped says:

I am less impressed with Rampage as time goes on. His little act is amusing in the brief clips once a year(when he fights), but when you see it all the time, it gets old fast. Add to that his one dimensional fight style of late, and his “retirement”, and I think possibly this is a downward spiral for him. I actually felt bad for Kimbo, who came to the show to learn something, but was instead treated to Rampage blowing smoke up his ass.

  • EtherBunny says:

I don’t understand why Demico lost, Rampage was screaming “score points” the whole time, that’s some good coaching.

  • MMAFan says:

Great analogy Michael T. Permanent tilt!

I was pissed off months ago when it was announced he would be a coach again because he sucks so bad at it. But last night was over the top. I’ve never seen anyone in ANY sport just left standing there with no support at all from teammates, coaches or anyone else. It made me sick. Not only did Rampage let down his fighter but he has created an atmosphere in his team where the fighters don’t support each other!

I’m not a huge Evans fan by any means. But the guy showed some serious class by talking to Rogers in the ring and doing what his coach should have been there to do.

  • DigYourOwnHole says:

Rampage has no business being cast in the coaches role. As an MMA fighter, he has proven he can hang in the UFC but I wouldnt want this guy teaching the MMA equivelant of T-Ball.

After the fight, in his little coaches huddle, he tells his other coaches they have to dumb it down. WHAT!?!?! You can get more dumb than “Score points” or “Get up Abe”. Please!

Rampage doesnt roll with his guys either. He sits around and holds pads once in a while. I know he is a striker but he should have things to offer about GNP and escapes also.

Rashad on the other hand… I wasnt a fan at first. His TUF performance were lackluster. His first few fights were lackluster. Im not on his pebbles, but the dude has earned my respect as a fighter. He has earned my admiration as a coach! He does an amazing job as a coach.

I could give many examples but first and foremost I want to draw your attention to the way he gives direction during the fight. He can clearly be heard altering his commands. By that I mean he wont just yell “Get up abe” over and over. He goes like this, “Get up Abe, Wall Walk, Feet on his hips, Push with your left…” and so on. In a fight, its REAL easy to stop listening to repetitive commands and then stop listening to your corner. This is a fundamental of coaching. He can get through to his guys both while training and in the fight.

Rashad 8, Rampage 0. When Rashad has to give up guys, the guys that go are SO BUMMED OUT, they lose easily. Ramage also shows very little interest or respect to the guys who are forfitted to him.

I said when Rampage first announced that he was quitting the UFC that it was caused by a TUF disaster. This really seems to be playing out. Rashad is in his head and Rashad’s pure dominance proved to be unpalletable for Rampage.

Let this be a lession to us all. Rashad took a top 10 contender out of the sport, not by might but by tactic. Sun Tsu would tip his hat.

  • MMAFan says:

It’s truly amazing how many people that have talked about how great Rampage is and are clearly fans of his are so quiet now (or even changing their tune about him completely!)

  • DigYourOwnHole says:

    Can someone help my terminology…

Early in the fight, Brendan used some sort of anaconda sweep or something to end up on top. Does that have a name?

Brendan did very well in this fight. His GNP defense was there and he capaitalized on his opportunities. Im not sure how long he has been in the sport, but I see him having a future.

Best of the 4 fights so far in my opinion, even though it was a quickie.

    • MMAFan says:

Definitely the most impressive fighter so far. I agree. He finished the fight decisevely. And did it with a submission, which was supposed to be Roger’s game in this fight. He is the only one so far that looks well rounded at all. Every other fighter thus far is completely one dimensional. I’m eager to see him have his cardio tested to see if that part of his game is strong as well.

    • jcohl says:

dig, are you talking about a whizzer?

  • ryan smith says:

I have to agree with miggy, so he’s not doing the greatest job as a coach but as a fighter hes far from a washout, 5/6 last fights hes won including wins for wanderlei, liddell, eastman, and jardine dont remember who other fight was with, and forrest fight was up in air til last round. this show has nothing to do with him as a fighter, wish he woulda fought rashad before he retired to add rashad to people he’s knocked out

  • bruceleroy says:

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the other coaches not being in there after Demico’s loss. There are 3 coaches including Rampage, and not one of them was in there. I understand other fighters on his team not getting in there, but all of the coaches seriously dropped the ball, and it was good that Rashad called them on this.
