Mark ColemanMark Coleman has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 106 co-headlining matchup with Tito Ortiz, according to Ortiz, who posted the news early this morning on Twitter:

Coleman, coleman, coleman to bad he sissies out!!! Who’s next??? I’m kicking someone’s ass on Nov 21st!

A reason for Coleman’s withdrawal has yet to be disclosed and a replacement has not yet been named for the November 21 card in Las Vegas that’s headlined by a heavyweight championship bout between title-holder Brock Lesnar and challenger Shane Carwin.

Hmmm, I wonder what’s up with Coleman? I’m thinking minotoro nog would be a good replacement, but I’m not sure if he already has a fight lined up?

    • bsbiz says:

      Minotauro Nogueira fights around 250.

Mark Coleman (when healthy) fights at 205.

      Tito fights at 205.

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things will not step into the octogon in a sanctioned event. Can you guess which one?

      • Justin says:

That’s why he said Minotoro, which is Little Nog, who does fight at 205. Also, big Nog only weighs 236.

      • bsbiz says:

Would these dang brazilians pick a name unlike their brother’s? Sheesh. My apologies.

      • jiujitsuMAN says:

bsbiz they are twin brothers… or didnt you know :P

      • bsbiz says:

I knew that, but when they’re both Antonio R. Nogueira, one goes by “Minotauro”, the other goes by “Minotoro”, and no one around here can spell, it was an easy mistake to make.

      • dbiz says:

So when dealing with a family of Brazilian George Foremans, is it not expected to make mistakes? Lord knows the rest of you people make enough that we have to correct…

      • mmaman says:

lol this these responses are too funny

    • lovintheUFC4EVER says:

think maybe rich frankling against tito ortiz even though rich is at the “catchweight” since rich lost his last fight and ortiz hasnt been in a fight for a while.

      • fr702 says:

        DbiZ, BsBiZ too awesome…

lovintheUFC4EVER, I’m not sure that Rich will be cleared by then or even if he wants to fight that soon after being ko’d by Belfort… I mean he has fought Henderson, Wanderlei and Belfort this year that is pretty impressive….

Wanderlei should rematch Jacob, but probably isn’t because well his face might not have healed yet and he is dropping down to MW but just a thought

  • So Coleman backs out of this fight and Rampage backed out against Rashad. Tito vs. Rashad then?

Well according to Tito’s terminology it appears as if Coleman backed out. More likely he suffered an injury or for some other reason isn’t fit to fight. Its typical of Tito to say something derogatory about a man he claimed at the 103 weigh ins to admire, look up to and respect. I hope they give him Rashad and I’m far from a fan of the Nipple Tweaker, but I’d love to see him perform an ultra combo on Tito and make him cry. (again)

  • bottumzup says:

    I say DMX vs Tito…LOL

  • love4thedead says:

How about Anderson Silva(somebody had to say it).

  • pruitt says:

how bout nobody ? who cares ? tito is a non-issue. His last few fights he beat a washed up Shamrock, lost to Chuck (who was starting his decline), won a split decision against a green Forrest Griffin, couldn’t finish an overrated Rashad, and showed nothing in a loss to Machida. He was a great mouthpiece and looked good on magazine covers…this fight was a waste anyway.

    • Justin says:

Supposedly Tito had some health issues with his back in those fights, which he has since had corrected, and is claiming to be in much better physical condition now. Tito also still sells PPVs so, if he can get back in the win column, that will be good for him and the UFC.

      • pruitt says:

well few fighters are 100% when they walk in the cage and I’ve never been a fan so the only issue I’d like to see is his face getting crushed. But, honestly, it wasn’t just him…Coleman has been done for a while. He has no business fighting on PPV’s. I’m glad it’s off. The fight did nothing for me. If I have to see him on a PPV, I’d rather see him fight a younger fighter like Hamill, Bisping, Cane, Jones, or Silva(Thiago). It would give the younger guy an opportunity to be more recognizable and possibly end tito’s little comeback.

      • Justin says:

It wasn’t a matter of “not being 100%” in the manner you are indicating. Yeah, people get banged up in training, but Tito had to get back surgery to correct a major, ongoing problem. There’s a difference between having something “bugging you” from a training injury, that when you take a couple weeks off it gets better and it’s no big deal, versus having something that requires surgery to correct and is a constant problem.

  • pruitt says:

well then maybe he should have had it corrected because those fights were over a 2 plus year period. I just don’t like the idea of using an excuse. Nog was injured when he fought Mir, Rampage was injured when he fought Jardine, Shogun was injured when he fought Forrest. All three lost, all three had the problem corrected after their respective fights. C’mon Justin…the guy fought for YEARS with a serious back problem, suffering losses and giving mediocre performances ? who is he ? Sean MIchaels ? Lol. He draws. But he made his name when there was little competition in the UFC.

    • bigchris2328 says:

are you trying to compare tito to a wrestler in the wwe/wwf? if so you spelled his name wrong, its shawn fyi.

justin isnt making excuses, hes informing you of what tito was fighting. you dont like fighters making excuses??? whats your excuse for not being a mixed martial artist?

ill let you in on a secret about the frenzy… the majority of the big dogs that post on here,[fr, justin, gun, jcohl, etc] all have experience in some discipline of mma and they know what type of injury would hinder a mixed martial artist.

      • pruitt says:

Oh my god I spelled a wrestler’s name wrong! How dare me! I’ll let you in a little secret: This is the comment section and I can say whatever I want. Did I say i wasn’t a fighter? Did I say I was? As a longtime fan I can have an opinion on said sport. You don’t like it ? That’s on you, not me. You’re the one that decided to call someone a name. I thought Justin and i were having a pretty good discussion. He didn’t seem to have a problem with it. It’s not the first time we have been on opposite sides of a discussion. What are you his guardian? Lol…and I’m the troll. LMAO.

      • pruitt says:

and I didnt intimate that Justin was making excuses..”Big Dog”, lol. I was talking about tito…wow

      • jiujitsuMAN says:

pruitt no one called you a name or said you were a troll… thats all in your head…

      • Justin says:

Perhaps he thought it would get better on his own? Or perhaps he took the “fighter mentality” and said “I’ll just fight through it.” I can’t speak to why he didn’t get it fixed sooner, but from what he says it was causing him a big problems, and preventing him from training on his grappling. We’ll see when he fights how much of a difference it made, though.

      • Justin says:

P.S. I’m not a Tito fan, I just think he’s good for business.

  • bigchris2328 says:

dont argue with the trolls justin. you know better.

maybe jon jones, or rich franklin as a possible opponent. thiago/rashad could both be opponents, yes i know they are both signed to fight each other, but fights have been broken off even when they were signed lately. ex. carwin-cain, forrest-thiago, rich-dan 2, rashad-rampage.

i think jones would get exposed as being not ready for elite competition if he were to face tito, say what you want about tito, but he is still a top 10 205er imo. jones looks pretty good in the standup department, but we have yet to see his ground game, and against tito, tito will take the fight to the ground.

    • bsbiz says:

I think you’d have a hard time getting Franklin or Rashad to do it because of the relatively short notice. I will admit that seven weeks isn’t a short amount of time, but it could be done. Maybe rematch the draw with Rashad. Franklin isn’t likely as he was just put down by Belfort two montha ago and may not yet be off his suspension.

  • pruitt says:

there’s a reason I have an MMA frenzy news frenzy on my homepage…I woke up earlier this morning and this article was already posted. Other sites are just now “confirming” their “breaking news” about Coleman dropping out. No BS no ass kissing…I recommend your site when talking about MMA.

  • Dammnn, i wanted to see this fight but maybe we’ll end up watching another fight, who knows but maybe the UFC might set-up an even better fight with someone we problably don’t even see coming, either way Tito is my boy and i can’t wait to see some “Punishment” via elbows from the guard. ;)

  • My guess is that it will be Tito Ortiz vs Stephan Bonnar

    • mmaman says:

thats not a bad guess. But i dont know cause if Bonner loses thats 3 in a row. Dana said he would never cut Bonner or Forrest but we’ll see.

    • Justin says:

Definitely hard to think of a good replacement, many 205s are already booked, or would be like putting a can in with him.

    • jcohl says:

The smart money would be on Stephan Bonnar to step in against Ortiz.
Like Justin, I’m not a Tito supporter, but there is no denying that not only is he good for business, but he has earned a certain amount of respect within the UFC.
Also, if Ortiz makes a full recovery from back surgery, he may present more problems at 205 than people are currently giving him credit for.
Finally, both Bonnar and Ortiz are White favorites, and match up pretty well against each other, so in a lot of ways this makes sense.

      However…

Seeing as how both men ARE White favorites, I’m thinking that Dana would like to see both men do well, especially because he has a lot invested in both of them, so seeing as how my boy mk4 threw Bonnar’s name out there, my guess for Tito’s next opponent would be….
      HOUSTON ALEXANDER.

  • swankcm says:

I know he just fought but I would bet money that Alexander would step up and take the short notice fight against tito Houstan vs tito anybody think it could be interesting

    • fr702 says:

I’m down for that, I could possibly watch Jacob get hit hard and not recover and see where Houston’s sprawl is at… Whynot….. A rematch with Shad would be cool…. I just don’t think he should be “fed” anyone, and for me personally Coleman stood a chance against Ortiz but that was probably just me, I haven’t been impressed by Ortiz’s workouts or whatever and Coleman always doesn “his” best….

    • i think that would be a sick fight, but to be honest Tito would most likely take Houston down and beat him up because as much as i am a Tito fanatic the dude doesn’t like to striker with guys that have ko power such as Houston, but maybe he would stand with Houston, either way i would for sure watch Houston Alexander vs Tito Ortiz, the only thing is i wouldn’t know who to root for because i am a huge fan of both guys and i want to see both guys make a comback and win a few but we’ll see.

  • swankcm says:

ya I know I’m a matchmaker lol, and Fr I picked Coleman to beat Tito too this is dissapointing to me I’m a big fan of his u here anything about an injury?

    • fr702 says:

I’m trying to do to much rightnow, and for you with all of these questions, asking Justin can I see DREAM fights (when we all Know Im the video poster ddamnit ) :P totally joking, um the rumor around the watering hole is that Coleman tore the MCL and that he asked for the fight to be postponed til Jan 2nd, but that isn’t 100%

      • bsbiz says:

MCL’s don’t just tear on their own. They will sprain on their own, but tears generally are accompanied by some other ligament tears.

      • fr702 says:

Now “its BLOWN out”, but I’m just tying to figure it out, essentially the same thing that happend when Coleman was suppose to face off against Lesnar but it is the MCL, not the ACL (ofcourse to my knowledge)

      • bsbiz says:

The MCL is the ligament on the inside of your knee. It doesn’t just tear without some sort of other ligament damage. Or doesn’t blow out or anything else. When someone refers to “blowing out a knee” they are referring to a torn or partially torn ACL.

  • underhooks says:

Coleman has apparently torn his ACL and Tito is carrying on like the man is scared. I really hope they give that big bulbus headed ********* a tougher fight than Coleman, preferably someone with KO power. I for one will be rooting for whoever faces Ortiz.

    edit~ FR702

  • underhooks says:

In fact why is he even back in the UFC, the guy sucks

  • Fred says:

I think a Tito/Forrest rematch would be a good replacement. I’m sure Forrest would jump at a chance to redeem himself.

  • swankcm says:

it’s so funny when I see people saying former champions suck…..u win a title in the ufc nothing about that says u suck I don’t care if it was in 94 2004 or 2014 anyone that fights or has had fights in mma I would think would agree with me!!!! So the tito’s and colemans and Coutures out there lets all refrain from using the They Suck comments k

  • swankcm says:

    “cough” “cough” underhooks

  • micjasbro says:

Didn’t Tito want to fight Kimbo. come on, you know he doesn’t make it to the Finale. Sure they are probably gonna put him on the card anyways, but think about how that matchup would sell. He would have to cut weight of course, but it’s not entirely impossible for him to make 205. He’s only in it for the money anyways, right? I’m sure he would consider it.

  • Real Deal says:

    Im F’n gald!!!

    Isn’t everyone else??

Tito coming back fighting this Ken Shamrock guy who has seen waaaaay better “STEROID” days….

    Thank you MMA Gods!

Please find tito a suitable opponent. I don’t wanna see tito just lay on someone for 3 F’n rnds and get another DECISION win……

  • swankcm says:

    wow some amazing posts today

  • swankcm says:

well big worthy just about every champion in MMA has dodged a fight due to timing or training partners…so I guess every champion in MMA history sucks!!!!

  • jcohl says:

And for all you UK fans who keep whinging about getting sh!tty UFC cards, I’ll throw the idea out there that Dana will scrap Randy Couture-Brandon Vera, and plug in the Natural to face Ortiz at 106, and maybe Bonnar or Griffin to face Vera at 105…
    ;)

  • swankcm says:

jchol, vera franklin is actually an outstanding idea and I like the thought of tito fighting randy I don’t think that scenario will happen but if it did I wouldn’t be mad

    • jcohl says:

I actually like Vera-Franklin for 105, mainly because I think the Brit fans will get a more up-tempo fight than they will with Vera-Couture, and heres why:
If age and wear have indeed finally caught up with the Natural as almost all of his detractors say, then Vera will probably finish him in the first round. If Couture still has some “Captain America” left in him, then Vera is in for 15 minutes of clinch work, dirty boxing, eating the cage, and trying to avoid Greco throws. If this thing winds up on the mat, look for Couture to GnP Vera until the ref waves him off.
As happy as that would make me, its not exactly an electrifying fight to watch, unless you are a Couturian or for some reason a Vera-hater.
Maybe, just maybe, Dana should re-think 105 and 106, and reshuffle the 205 deck. The UK would really dig Vera-Franklin, or even Vera-Griffin IMO, and Las Vegas would sh!t in technicolor with happiness for a Couture-Ortiz rematch…

  • Drew1313 says:

how’bout Steve Cantwell or Brian Stann……thoughts?

  • Manny says:

tito vs dan henderson would be awesome i bet tito gets ko in the 2nd round but i mean michael bisping ko OUT!! not like the way chuck ko him

  • UltiMMA says:

Seeing as Tito still wants to remain on the 106 fight card here are a couple of fighters who are healthy and would matchup great against him:
    Forrest Griffin rematch
    Ryan Bader
    Rashad Evans rematch
    Jon Jones
    Luiz Cane
