Don’t mail out your Rousey-“Cyborg” viewing party invites just yet, but, you might want to start thinking about a design…?

Now, what does that contrived, opening sentence mean exactly? Well, on the latest edition of “UFC Tonight”, the show’s Ariel Helwani reported the following about Cris “Cyborg” Justino (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“According to Dana White, she signed two months ago, but the deal is: she needs to make 135 pounds in Invicta before she gets to fight in UFC. Next she’ll fight in July at 145, then will fight at 135 before entering the UFC.”

How about that huh? While it’s not like the UFC has booked Rousey-“Cyborg” just yet, and there’s still several hurdles to jump, this is exciting news. Especially when you consider not long ago, “Cyborg” had pretty much written off coming to the UFC and fighting Rousey at 135.

As Helwani mentioned, “Cyborg” is booked to defend her featherweight belt at Invicta FC 13 on July 10th. Her opponent, however, has yet to be announced.

So, if all goes according to plan, one would think “Cyborg” won’t be stepping in the Octagon until next year. If and when that fight happens, it’s going to be huge (provided neither loses in the interim of course). If you haven’t noticed, Rousey has become a pretty, pretty big deal, in and outside the MMA world.

Most recently, at Invicta FC 11 in February, the former Strikeforce champ stopped Charmaine Tweet in 46 seconds. The 29 year-old Justino has won 14 straight, MMA bouts.

Rousey, meanwhile, is scheduled to fight Bethe Correia on August 1st at UFC 190. The 28 year-old bantamweight champ is coming off a jaw dropping, 14 second, submission win over Cat Zingano last month.
