Luke Rockhold vs. Jesse Taylor Slated For November 6 “Strikeforce Challengers: Evangelista vs. Gurgel”
Strikeforce fighter Luke Rockhold has announced via facebook that he will be Jesse Taylor’s unannounced opponent at the November 6 “Strikeforce Challengers: Evangelista vs. Gurgel” event in Fresno California, which will air on Showtime. This comes just a day after MMAFrenzy.com reported that Taylor would be taking part in the event.
Rockhold has competed four previous times under the Strikeforce banner, in his six fight MMA career, having earned first round submission victories in all of his bouts with the promotion. He was last in action at the June “Strikeforce Challengers: Villasenor vs. Cyborg” where he defeated Cory Devela. The lone blemish on his record came against Tony Rubalcava in November, 2007.
Taylor last fought in August, losing to Jay Heiron at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg, in his promotional debut. Prior to the August loss Taylor had put together a seven fight win streak following his peruvian neck tie loss to C.B. Dolloway at “UFC: Silva vs. Irvin” in July, 2008, including victories over notables Drew Fickett and Dong Sik Yoon.
With the addition of Taylor vs. Rockhold, the November 6 card now includes:
- Billy Evangelista vs. Jorge Gurgel
- Luke Rockhold vs. Jesse Taylor*
- Ben Holscher vs. TBA
- Casey Olson vs. TBA
- Anthony Ruiz vs. TBA
- Cole Escovedo vs. TBA
- Zoila Frausto vs. TBA

i cant wait for this fight, its going to be a good build up to roy nelson vs gurgel. imo i dont thikn gurgel stands a chance, he just gives up too much size. roy is underrated and will take him down.

Now I stated the other day in “quick hits” that I had no intrest to see CoCo the peeing monkey (Jesse Taylor, which makes me wonder that if Jesse Taylor changed his given name to his “nickname” ala WarMachine would his “real” name now be CoCo the Peeing monkey and would it be just a bit of awesome?) but now that Luke Rockhold is signed to this fight, it has sparked my intrest…
The last time Luke fought he did a great job as usual, he is a excellent BJJ practioner and has power in his hands, mind you he knows where his strenghts ly and thats on the ground but the kid has power.. Plus he is a super cool cat to hang out with a have a few with… Watch out for the kid in the white penny loafers he might just kick your asss.. good stuff, and I just recieved my floor tickets nice
