Reports: Mauricio “Shogun” Rua Signs with UFC
According to Mad Squabbles Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has inked a 2-fight deal with the UFC and PRIDE. No details are available and even after trying to dig up something I came up empty handed so if this deal is indeed done expect more to come out soon.
Rua is regarded as one of the top light heavyweights in the world currently fighting with PRIDE. Notable wins in his career include victories over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira andcurrent UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson who will be fighting Chuck Liddell in May for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 71.
In his last fight Rua posted a knockout win over Alistair Overeem at PRIDE 33. In a recent interview Rua went on the record saying that he wants to fight as a middleweight in 2007 and heavyweight in 2008.
