UFC 185: Prelim Play-By-Play And Results

UFC 185 is underway in Dallas, Texas, and in addition to a stacked main card, there are several, compelling bouts booked for the prelims.

Here are the results from the Fight Pass scraps, and the play-by-play for the rest of the preliminary fights are below.

Ryan Benoit def. Sergio Pettis via TKO (punches) R2, 1:34

Joseph Duffy def. Jake Lindsey via TKO (strikes) R1, 1:47

Germaine de Randamie def. Larissa Pacheco via TKO (punches) R2, 2:02

Josh Copeland vs. Jared Rosholt 

Not much is going on in early moments of the bout. Rosholt finally shoots in but can’t get the takedown. Both men are chucking hard shots. Rosholt rushes in but gets tagged with a right hand. Rosholt pushes Copeland up against the cage. Round ends.

Round 2: Copeland plants a stiff jab. Rosholt lands a left hand and rushes in but Copeland moves away. Fans are starting to boo. Rosholt telegraphs a shot and Copeland defends. Rosholt lands a kick to the body. Rosholt flurries in and gets the takedown. Rosholt moves into sidemount and lands a few shots from above. Copeland has one arm tied up behind his head but gets it loose. Rosholt is tossing down punches and elbows from above. Round ends.

Round 3: Rosholt is hunting for the takedown and gets it. The heavyweight moves into sidemount again. Rosholt is landing punches from the top position. Copeland takes a big elbow. Another hard elbow and hard punches from Rosholt. The bout is stopped.

Daron Cruickshank vs. Beneil Dariush

Dariush fires a kick to the body to begin the bout. Dariush follows up with a leg kick. Cruickshank chucks a head kick but its blocked. Cruickshank fires several hard punches. Dariush throws another hard kick to the body. Another kick from Dariush. Cruickshank plants a kick to the body and then attempts a spinning kick. Dariush throws a left and tries to clinch up. Cruickshank breaks free. Dariush wings another kick to the body. Cruickshank attempts a flying knee but winds up on his back. Dariush is landing elbows from above and then goes for the D’arce. Cruickshank defends and the round ends.

Round 2: Dariush fires a right hand to begin the round. Cruickshank is looking for the takedown but can’t get it. Dariush flurries in but Cruickshank starts working for a takedown. Cruickshank can’t get it and gives up his back. Dariush is hunting for an armbar but the lightweight defends. Dariush is still on his back and sinks in a rear-naked-choke. Wow. Cruickshank taps. Very impressive performance for Dariush.

Roger Narvaez vs. Elias Theodorou

Theodorou clinches up not long into the bout. Narvaez breaks free. Theodorou fires a hight kick and clinches up again. Narvaez chucks a high kick that’s blocked. Theodorou storms in but doesn’t land anything. Narvaez counters with a right. The latter takes a low kick. Bout is momentarily is stopped. Theodorou throws a couple of kicks that miss. Narvaez counters. Round ends.

Round 2: Theodorou lands a body kick to begin the round. Theodorous gets a takedown after an exchange. Theodorous passes Narvaez’s guard but the latter gets to his feet. Theodorou grazes Narvaez with a head kick. Theodorou continues to stay busy with kicks and is pushing forward. Theodorou clinches up and gets a single leg. Wow. Theodorou is raining down shows from above. Narvaez continues to eat shot after shot. Fight is stopped. Solid performance for Theodorou.

Ross Pearson vs. Sam Stout

Now this scrap definitely has “Fight of the Night” potential. Pearson plants a nice left to begin the bout. Stout counters with a kick to the body. Stout comes in with an uppercut. Pearson chucks a hard inside leg kick. Both lightweights are staying busy with strikes. Stout lands a hard leg kick. Stout follows up with a nice left hook. Pearson lands a hard jab. Stout blasts in with a takedown but can’t get it. Stout flurries in and the round ends.

Round 2: Both men continue to be active with strikes. Pearons plants a left hook. The two clash heads accidentally. Wow. Pearson floors Stout with a booming left hook. Stout goes down and as Pearson follows up with punches the ref jumps in. Huge win for Pearson.
