I’m still trying to find the JLB v Musashi fight (its the difficult one to find), some rather good fights, but hey I enjoy K~1
fr,
I thought oveream was injured thats why he hasn’t been fighting for strikeforce?? Obviously he’s better now?
well a few theroy’s on that my friend…. He did break his hand in a bar fight in his hometown his brother was there as well.. MMA gloves are small and light, the K~1 gloves are bulky kinda like boxing gloves in weight but the K~1 gloves a bit different in basic shape..
He also has stated that he was going to end the 2009 year fighting in K~1 which is really odd because that means that he has signed a new contract with FEG to fight in K~1 and perhaps DREAM. Now that FEG and Strikeforce are working together (takes effect in approx one month) Overeem has stated that in 2010 (if Fedor beats Rogers) that he will make his “long awaited title defense” against Fedor…
And with Overeem’s manager talking all kinds of shhhh for apparently no reason whatsoever, perhaps they are holding out to renegotiate with Strikeforce, I’m not certain but that train of thought wouldn’t work too well for the Overeem camp because if he is signed to FEG (which he is) he will essentially fight for Strikeforce anyways..
Kinda got off on a rant there but basically his hand is protected better by the size of the K~1 glove rather than the normal MMA glove
Actually your rant was pretty helpful, because I’ve been wondering sort of the same thing, about how Overeem is “too hurt” to fight in Stikeforce, but not in K-1.
I thought the hand injury was a cut, which then got infected.
Of course, I’ve also read on another site that Overeem is none too happy about M-1 getting involved with Strikeforce.
I am thinking maybe the reason he doesn’t fight in Strikeforce is because he might be making a lot more money in K-1. I am not sure how much he gets paid at K-1 but I would assume it is much more than in Strikeforce. He is probably much more marketable in Japan than here also. Having to deal with all of the medicals and licenses here in California is probably a hassle which in Japan he doesnt have to deal with.
He has fought for Strikforce twice and passed both tests, he makes “more money” from FEG because well he fights for them and they PAY him, if he were to comeback and fight at a Strikeforce event then he would make almost the same amount (but perhaps that amount wouldn’t be “disclosed”)
overeem sorry
gotcha thanks 4 the info
My pleasure
were has bonjasky been for the last while? thought he was done
Bonjasky beat Overeem a few months ago via decision.
Looks like lots of boring decisions…
overeem wont fight in strike force because of this thing called a drug test cough steriods cough
He has Passed drug tests before cough nice accusation on someone who hasn’t tested positive for roids cough
So thats what we’re doing now at the frenZy?
Just firing off baseless accusations at fighters for using PEDs and such?
Maybe its just me, but that sounds a bit trollistic…
