“Rampage” Jackson: I’ll Be Damned If Anybody Disrespects Me
On the heels of his Tuesday announcement that he was “done fighting,” Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has posted another blog post (“Who’s the baby?”) in which he says he’ll “be damned if anybody disrespects me”.
The complete post from Jackson’s official website is re-published below:
Make no mistake the UFC treated me a lot better than Pride. If you get hurt in training in a UFC fight then will send you to the best doctors. If you get hurt in a Pride fight most of the time they will tell me “oh you better take care of that!” The UFC will always let you know in a timely matter who you will be fighting & give you enough time to train but with Pride if I knew 4 weeks ahead I would be happy cause most times they just give you a 2 weeks notice. Pride will rip you off on your merchandising but the UFC would find someway to hook you up on merchandising deals. Pride will make fights easier for certain fighters inside the ring (like standing up fights early). With the UFC whatever happens happens. The only thing I see the UFC needs to fix in this area is to get better judges. Ones who know about MMA & not from the boxing world.
The reason why I’m talking about all this is that I feel like this whole situation could have been avoided if UFC would have respected me more & rescheduled the fight about a month or more in my hometown, which I know fights can be rescheduled because of the Matt Hughes & Matt Serra was postponed due to injuries. Instead, Dana went on the internet & started talking bad about my decision. All we had to do was come to a certain type of argreement or understanding, which later came after a lot of trash talk from Dana. My manager flew to Vegas & talked to them & tried to work things out like a MAN. & still I keep quite & I didn’t talk trash back on the internet. The only reason why I’m even talking now is because I feel like I owe my fans an explanation because I am a MAN, a real MAN. Yeah I made good money with the UFC more than Pride, but I made both shows more money than they made me. I didn’t care too much about Pride treating me like crap cause I was an American in a Japanese company. Now in my own country, I feel like I’m being disrepected. Everything is not about how much money you make. You could be the richest man in the world but if nobody repsects you then it don’t mean shit. You can’t buy respect. It should be earned. & thats what I’m all about. Now Rashad wanna put his two cents in. Rashad remains to be a boy under me. He wins a few fights, and some of them I thought the judges fell asleep during the fight & woke up & saw him playing with his nipples & guessed he won. He knocked Chuck Liddel out when Chuck wasn’t even the same man anymore. & now he thinks he’s on my level. Yeah he talks about how he beat Forrest & I lost. But when I fought Forrest that was the worst Rampage I had ever seen. & I still know in my heart I won that fight. So now he’s Mr. All Cocky & says I got a big mouth & talk a lot of smack. If my memory serves me correctly, he’s the one that got into my face after the Jardine fight & started talking trash when he was the one that was originally supposed to fight me that night, but he told Dana on the phone he didn’t want to fight. He wanted to keep his belt longer. Now, I’m not saying wether or not I would have beaten Machida, but I wouldn’t have went out like a bitch like the way he did. So I’m the one that was looking forward to the Rashad fight the most. I have always been a fighter my whole life. As a kid my family treated me like shit which made me the person who I am today. This is why when I meet people I treat people the way I want to be treated (unless they approach me wrong or piss me off). I grew up thinking that I wasn’t even important to my family which made me not even care about myself. That’s why I can get knee-ed in the face 15 times & come back for more. That’s why I can get my legs seriously hurt in a fight & still try to win. Thats why I can get my ribs broken in a fight & not tap out because my whole life I never thought I mattered to anybody or anybody cared about me. But now I have kids that love me & care about me & I’m not used to people caring about me but it feels good! I’m a very loyal person. Wolves are the most loyal animals on the planet. I was very loyal to the UFC, but now I owe all my loyalty to my kids… the ones who really care for me. The majority of my fights on the street I fought for free & they all were with emotion. I am a fighter, I will always be a fighter but my professional fights that were fought with emotion, I ended them all in devestating fashion. I am the wrong fighter that should fight pissed off professionally. I don’t even consider it fair. So Rashad says he will fight me for free. I will gladly meet him at any gym & fight him just to shut his mouth up. & I mean that for real!
When I told Dana I did not want my belt back & that I just wanted to make money, it was around the time when they gave me Vanderlei & actually it was around the same time when my mind wasn’t right (my mind was at TRUCK status) & that’s the way I felt because I felt I had been robbed out of my belt. After the Jardine fight I did want my belt back because my family was so proud of me when I was champion & I want to make my family proud cause now I finally feel like my family cares about me & they accept me & this is what I’ve been wanting my whole childhood… for my family to like me. If I got to beat some ass for my family to like me, so be it. But now, I’m a grown man & I’ll be damned if anybody disrespects me. I’m not having it, it’s not happening!

hope this is sorted soon and rampage is bk in the cage. i proper sad its my favourite fighter n the reason i got into pride was 2 watch him.. rashads a tool rampage will knock him out
That’s a whole lot or ramble’n. So keep on rambling ramdler.
What’s the over/under on how long it takes for this to be resolved??
I’ll start with 4 months…over or under fellas?
Under
Way under, Dana will fly to wherever rampage is and talk to him, give him the ‘respect’ he wanted and sign him to fight Rashad in December or January. Its too much money to walk away from…
So many words for such a small message.
“The UFC should have respected me more and rescheduled the fight.”
…reads to me like….
“I want my way or I quit.”
You cant have everything man. In the first post, he said he quit because he was broken and beat up and wanted to persue his other career. Now he quit because he was disrespected?
At least stick to one story. Im sick of this drama already.
he actualy talking (IMO) about the disrespect he has got following him quiting?
also if your sick of the drama, just stop ****ing reading it. Thats like saying your sick of this drama while watching the hills. At least Rampage has something meaningful to say. I support Rampage all the way and I really hope we get the chance to see him knockout Rashad
None of that made…any sense. At all.
No wonder he’s looking to make money fast. He’s illiterate and can’t put together a coherent sentence.
Buck up, Little Rampage. There’s always a place in MMA forums for you.
Ummm. I’m kind of conflicted.
UNDER
Hey genius (Rampage) they rescheduled the Serra v. Hughes fight because Serra got hurt, not because someone got a movie deal. Wow.
The accusations from his previous post have now lost some credibility since his story has now changed on why he left, IMO.
Second that notion.
not only that but there were a whole lot of things that were put on hold for this fight. the tv show, the title build up, events moved, contenders put on hold. alot was riding on this fight happening. not the same with serra/ hughes. dana truely is the one thats getting screwed.
im still wondering where he was going with the whole “wolves are the most loyal animals” bit.. maybe he likes wolves, or howls like one, or secretely was raised by them?
We all consider MMA as sport, right?
Are there any other sports where an athlete can create their own schedule and pursue other ventures? The answer is NO. Iv’e made up my mind, Rampage is a douche.
Yeah, boxing.
No doubt is Rampage not under contract with the UFC. He should have to do what ever they tell him to, should he not?
in all fairness every other sport has an offseason with which they can do other things(act, sing, etc). mma there is no offseason so u gotta fit it in where u can.
I don’t know why everyone is hating on Rampage, the dude might have some personal issues and is clearly not approaching this in the best manner, he seems to be in a troubled place in his life right now and the dude is not thinking straight, it happens to us all and judging by everything he’s said thus far and how he’s said it so publicly i think that it’s in his best interest to not fight at all and seek some help because the dude sounds very troubled IMO.
As far as what he said about Rashad Evans i completely agree, Evans beat an old Liddell who was beating him before he landed that gimme lucky as he11 punch and now the dude thinks he’s at the elte level at 205 or even MMA period but Machida slow’d his role on that and brought him back to reality that he is not that cool as he thinks he is.
Geez.
Quinton “Ramblepage” Jackson seems pretty heated over something, I just wish he’d let us know what it is…
Two sides to everyone dudes. Dana could say what he wants and Rampage can say what he wants.
Me personally, i’m judging based on what i want to believe and i want to believe everything rampage said
Also, it’s a little gay for Rashad to comment on the situation. It’s even gayer if he truly backed out of the rampage fight.
Looks like any hopes for reconciliation are gone.
This stunt by Rampage is taking millions out of Rashad’s pocket (or bank account), so how does he not have a right to comment on the situation.
And what does his commenting on someone taking money out of his pocket have any affect on his sexual preference?
Taking out of his pocket? It takes two to make a fight , so if they don’t fight the money was never there imo.
with ya on the sexual sh1t though.
IMO rashad is more of an “it’s all about me” type of guy than rampage.
But just my opinion!
Rashad has, at least theoretically, been training for a Rampage fight. Now that he isn’t fighting Rampage, one would assume his game plan has changed meaning he has to start over. That money he spent is now lost money.
Further, it has long been planned that the coaches fight each other almost immediately after the show ends. While the card has not been officially announced, that fight was – from that angle, it is money taken out of someone’s pocket.
It is no different than someone saying they lost money in the stock market because the stock’s price fell. If you don’t sell when it is low, you have lost nothing…unless it is clear that the stock isn’t coming back.
Rampage has said that he is quitting because he wants to be some kind of movie star. That’s his prerogative. But when that directly affects someone else’s livelihood (Rashad – his scheduled next opponent, and let’s face it….Evans-T. Silva ain’t the same draw), Rampage loses the right to expect that person to keep quiet about the situation.
All of this is about Rampage wanting to be a diva and get his way and anything else is disrespect, in his mind. For a guy who is so big on respect to say, “Rashad remains to be a boy under me. He wins a few fights, and some of them I thought the judges fell asleep during the fight & woke up & saw him playing with his nipples & guessed he won.” Well, that isn’t very respectful. And Evans has done as much as Rampage has ON AMERICAN tv in MMA to earn respect. If not more.
I can’t stand that he claims that the UFC disrespected him, when they didn’t cut his ass after his little tear through the streets of Cali. Clearly this guy isn’t very bright. Maybe someone told him he doesn’t have enough money to put his kids through college – although if that is the case he needs to fire and sue his financial advisors.
In short, STFU Rampage.
On the finance stuff I get ya point! Hat’s off to ya
But with the whole “American tv” stuff? That is just what you imply American TV, what about pride, some of the stuff he did was sick.
So IMO Rashad is not as decorated as Quinton, may be in the future (as long he dose fight Machida again!)But not at the moment.
I wish Quinton the farther and family man all the best and hope you settle this **** soon and kick Rashads trucking a$$.
IMO.
Friends shouldn’t let friends drink and post…
This getting pretty deep. I wish him the best tho. We all must walk our own path in life. Good luck bro. Although I really think he’ll be back very soon
Would it not be hilarious if suddenly he is dropped by the UFC, contract ripped up….and two weeks later, we hear of Jackson v. Mousasi for the Strikeforce LHW belt!
Dana’s face would be a sight!
Rampage has officially lost the plot, but surely he can’t be out of the UFC and MMA completely??
That wouldn’t happen, the UFC will hold that contract over his head and prevent him from ever fighting again, unless it’s for the UFC.
And since I know someone out there is saying “They can’t do that,” Just take a peek at what happened to Randy…
That would actually be a really good fight. haha, i’d love to see that. Mousasi needs some good competition and I doubt he will get it in Strkieforce
I don’t think that Rampage is going to hang it up for good, just right now like i said before it is very clear that the dudes mind set is not in the right place and i think it’s the best move for him to not be fighting right now so he can take some time to think about things and get himself straightened out. All the Rampage haters that are talking crap now are going to be the first in line to jump on the Rampage bandwagon when he makes his return mark my words, Rampage will be gone for a while and when he comes back everyone whos been talking shhit will be kissing his a$$.
The dude is troubled right now so let him be human and make mistakes and get himself straight, everyone goes through stuff like that so stop hating
side note: Evans would have gotten ko’d either way, Greg Jackson or not, they are 0-2 with 2 ko losses via Machida and Thiago ko’s…Evans thinks he’s something special well if Machida didn’t open his eyes to reality then Thiago Silva will believe it.
mk4 – this thing is like Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and free blowjo6 day at the Bunny Ranch combined for Rampage haters.
Let them have their 15 minutes of fame, because they aren’t going to listen to reason anyway.
Good job defending the guy and keeping it grounded on this thread IMO…
thanks jcohl,
i just honestly think that some people have forgotten that Rmpage Jackson is also Quinton Jackson a human that makes mistakes and it’s extremely clear that the guy has not been stable for a while and he’s proven that with his eratic behavior so i honestly wish the guy the best and hope that he finds peace somewhere down the road and if he comes back he’s still a top fighter, he’s the only guy to ko Liddell(2 Times) and Wanderlei, he beat Dan Henderson for the Undisputed title, the guy is still fairly young and he can still do his thing if he comes back,
but thanks for backing me up jcohl, that’s why your my boy
Right, us Rampage haters can just “kiss his a$$” and forget about him calling us dumba$$ses and forget about him screwing his “friend” Dana White over and when he comes back and starts knocking out the LHW division left and right (which I admit he is capable of) we’ll just start hugging his nuts immediately.
Sorry but allow me to present an example of your erroneous thinking on this matter guys….NaturalDizaster. I don’t like how he played this, and if he is going through some mental or personal issues I can both sympathize and empathize. But I don’t condone calling the fans of the MMA world dumba$$es and I don’t support pulling a fxcking fake two-faced move like backing out of a fight that screws over your friends, employers and fans.
So when/if Rampage makes his return, and if he does extremely well and even if he regains his title in beasty fashion I’ll not like him, support him or root for him or have anything good to say about that man. I say this as an ex-fan who liked the guy even after he knocked out my idol Chuck Lidell. Its called principal and integrity and I don’t flip flop or compromise on mine. The rest of these fair weather fans and wishy washy dudes might but I have a track record to uphold.
Having said that I still have all the madd love respect in the world for you both and think its ok and perfectly fine to disagree on matters and be cool.
Absolutely, natural.
I’d love to see Rampage back in the mix of things. I like Rampage and i’ll back his career wether it’s MMA or Movies. Good luck Slampage! And like Jazzkok said, there is two sides, so we’ll see how this thing reveals itself in the distant future!
The more he talks (Rampage) The more i don’t like him. He’s proving on the ultimate fighter he can’t coach, and i don’t know why anyone would even think this guy is “standing up to the man”, that being Dana of course. He keeps talking about doin this move for his kids, and that’s fine pecker head, but what about doin **** for yourself! You keep saying your a fighter but yet you get pissed when you dont get your way and give up! I really don’t get how some of these posts diss Rashad but yet think Rampage is gold. I’m not saying that Rashad is the man or anything but damn at least he has more respect for people than Jackson!! And by the way Rampage, if you did fight Machida, YOU WOULD GO OUT LIKE A ****!!!!!!
Hope that Rampage & White will pass through this… Rampage’s a good fighter and I respect him for what he did for the UFC. Hope to see you back soon Jackson!
Sure is easy to say Rashad isnt on ur level when u have no intentions of fighting him.
“That’s why I can get knee-ed in the face 15 times & come back for more” Really Rampage, last time I saw u take a few knees to the face, u were layin unconcious over a rope with blood streaming out of ur head and Rua standin over u with his hand raised.
As for the excuses about fighting Forest, u lost fair and square. Rashad finished him. Ur win over Jardine was less than impressive. U dont want none of Evans, its clear now. Ur not the only fighter with a family.
reading that was a complete waste of time. So…don’t disrespect Mr.t i guess is the moral of that lame rambling.
Man, all you guys are taking this so personal. Let the man work out his issues before we pass judgement. About the only thing i think we have a right to be pissed is that he called us dumbass!!!
Quiting from UFCs biggest scheduled fight for your own interests and talking **** about Rashad isn’t really the best way to act if you’re gonna preach about repect this and respect that.
He really is beeing a big baby. I love rampage but it kinda annoys me that he will get away with all this crap as soon as he decides to return.
Mr. Jackson, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Well, he never did claim to be a scholar.
Exactly. A guy like Rampage is being paid to fight, and in an entertaining fashion.
In terms of scholarship, I’m guessing that Rampage thinks a thesaurus is some sort of dinosaur…
I am starting to think the first two weeks and fights of TUF 10 are just a sign of things to come. It would make perfect sense if Rampage is schooled again as a coach on the show, all his fighters get beat handily, Rashad gets the best of his rival coach and Rampage just breaks under the pressure. I know these are professional fighters but Rampage also loves the camera and the spotlight and getting beat soundly by Rashad on the show and portrayed as a piss poor coach maybe didn’t sit too well with him. Even the more reason to beat the snot out of Rashad? Maybe. Or even the more reason to hang em up as a fighter and try your luck in a different profession.
Bottom-line I think it’s very disrespectful decision on his part, to his fans, Rashad, Dana and the entire UFC organization. Maybe if he somehow went about it the right way or was able to put 1 or 2 coherent sentences together on his blog justifying his decision, I might be able to respect it. At this point and after the dreaded task of reading through his ramblings, I can honestly say I agree with Dana 100% and think Rampage is acting like a big baby.
I’m not sure what all the trash talk is about. Rampage made a choice to make a movie instead of fight. I think its the wrong choice if he is really looking at a career, but it’s his call.
And White has a right to be irritated. He is Jackson’s boss and isn’t doing his job. If any of us regular working guys went to work and said “No, I’m not going to do my job today, I’m going to go do this other thing instead” our bosses would be pissed.
They both totally have a right to feel how they feel and make their decisions accordingly.
Whether a fight gets scheduled again next spring or sometime with Rampage… well it has to be in the back of Dana’s head that its a risk. Would Jackson back out again if something better came along?
Yeah i have to admit you guys have a point.
Rashad has surely been affected by rampages actions and imo dana and the ufc were hella kool with rampage AND the way rampage went about this whole situation just wasn’t smart.
All you “RAMPAGE HATERS”, i don’t blame you. You have good reason to feel the way you do. But you also can’t blame us “RAMPAGERS” because this is one of my favorite fighters and with any one you like or respect, you don’t want to see them in this sort of situation and witness everyone criticizing them.
So as a rampage fan and mma fan and ufc fan and hell even a dana white fan, this is a bummer! I wanted to see some “black on black crime”. I didn’t want rampage to just up and go “make movies”. But I also didnt want to listen to all the **** he was honestly just complaining and whining about.
JUSTIN,
MY previous comment had nothing to do with anyones sezual preference. That’s just a word that some people use as slang. Not a very educated way to speak but hey i never said i was perfect! Either way dude, sorry if i ofended you dude!
I know, I just think you could make your point better. Trust me, I’m not offended, that’s just a “bashing-esque” way to make your argument.
MMAFan-’not sure what all the trash talk is about’? When Rampage signed on to do TUF he knew that he was obligated to fight at the end of the show. The UFC spends $MILLIONS hyping and advertising TUF as well as setting up the fight in Rampage’ home town only to have Rampage back out to do a movie.
Also,I’m not too sure if Rampage is actually the author of that last blog.
I’ve posted this before in a couple of places, but IMO it bears repeating because of the way in which this situation is spiraling out of control.
I highly doubt that we the MMA fan community are getting anywhere NEAR the whole story on this situation.
Someone put it best on another thread [GarRule I think] by saying something to the effect that there are three distinct POVs to this issue, and they are Dana’s POV, Rampage’s POV, and the truth.
So far we’ve gotten Dana and Rampage’s POVs, but the literal truth has yet to be discovered, and may very well never be.
So while we shouldn’t judge or criticize either Rampage or Dana White too harshly, we should extend the same courtesy to both Rampage’s supporters and detractors…
It’s funny how Dana is getting a clean bill in all of this…yes i will agree Rampage flipped his comments about why he’s quitting. and went a bit overboard with his reaction but Rashad Evans aint squat..he beat Forrest. Period. Chuck was washed up, he couldn’t finish Tito, and he lost to Machida. All he has done for MMA is roll around with GSP to prepare him against BJ Penn and play with his nipples during fights. Lol, Rashad. Again RAMPAGE SHOULD HAVE HANDLED THIS DIFFERENTLY….BUT, back to my first comment about Dana getting no grief in this..Rampage, Randy, and Tito all left the UFC on bad terms after an issue with Dana. Call Rampage a douche, yes Tito is a jerk, but Randy is neither of these. Now Randy is back and Tito just signed. Perhaps, there is some truth to his original post. We all heard and saw Dana rip Fedor, then be super nice, then rip him again, then be nice again. Same thing with the Affliction Brand and Kimbo both. Ripped them apart in the press and then made up behind the scenes. It’s a pattern. All I’m sayin is…think about it.
As far as Randy not being a jerk, he’s on his third divorce for a reason, and it’s probably not because he’s a super nice guy. Sure, Randy is great with the fans, and even with the Dana/Randy situation, Dana’s problem all along was “Randy’s Hollywood agent,” a point Dana has brought up again with Rampage, but somewhere along the line he’s not perfect either.
Take it easy Jcohl Justin is a Mod.;)
No worries, carls.
And Justin is entitled to his Couture opinion, no matter how wrong it may be.
I’m thinking that maybe Couture’s first marriage just didn’t work out, like a lot of people’s don’t. He got married young, I believe while he was in the Army. I’ve read somewhere that military personnel and emergency responders have a much higher than average divorce rate, so thats as likely a factor as any alleged shortcomings Couture may have as a spouse.
The next 2 marriages crashed because he just got tired of some trick burning thru his money like someone had a gun to their heads.
You hear a lot of things working in and around Las Vegas as long as I have, and I’m pretty sure Couture’s marital woes aren’t caused by the fact that he’s not “Captain America” enough for Sharon, Tricia, or Kim Couture.
I tend to believe what I see with my eyes, much more than what I hear on the street or read online.
The Couture that served his country both in the military and as a three time Olympic wrestling alternate, the Couture that was a 3 time NCAA Div. 1 All-American, the Couture thats made history in I don’t know how many different ways in the UFC, and the Couture who is the sport’s finest ambassador, is the man I respect and admire.
I could quite frankly care less how many women he kicks to the curb. In fact, I respect him for that as well in some ways. These days I see too many good men plod along in hopeless marriages wasting their lives and growing old before their time because they lack the self-respect, strength of will and determination to move on with their lives when they aren’t getting what they want and/or need from their spouse.
Not Couture.
If he’s not happy, he wishes them well and sets sail for smoother waters.
I only wish that I’m a quarter of the man he is when I reach his age.
And Couture doesn’t have to be perfect, but he is perfect for our sport…
Nice peice hot shot. what did you have that pre typed just waiting for some one to bash on you man crush couture.
To the Forums
I made no mention of Randy’s personal life because its a non-issue in this discussion. We are talking about MMA, not marriage. I’m sure plenty of fighters have more than one marriage, that has nothing to do with DANA WHITE NOT SHARING IN THE RESPONSIBILITY HERE. While I whole heartedly approve of the growth of the UFC over the past few years with Dana at the helm there clearly is a pattern of him getting pissy with guys when things don’t go his way. A fighter’s personal life has no bearing on his place in MMA history. If that was the case then half the fighters we watch wouldn’t be in the cage. My original post addressed the issue of Dana’s responsibility in fighters leaving or not honoring their contracts.
I’m not arguing the point that Dana shouldn’t have handled this better. I’m just saying Randy isn’t a saint.
I pitty the fool who doesn’t read my blog!!!
@ carls – I prefer to think of myslef as a Couturian rather than having a man crush, thank you very much Sir!
Also, even though it was said in sort of a cavalier fashion, allow me to post an apology to any of my married fellow frenZymen that may have been offended on some moral or religious basis for my comments regarding Couture’s failed marriages.
Peace…
Rampage isn’t crazy the blog makes sense. He’s pissed at Dana for not rescheduling and Rashad for talking smack. My money is on the under 4 month return with a 1st round destruction of Rashad.
No personal attacks. -Justin
Contracts are X number of fights within Y time period, seeing as this contract is his original from signing with the UFC I would estimate there is under a year of time left on Y time period meaning he could fight with another organization pretty soon.
Most contacts are for 2 year periods. Rampage holds no belt so can’t be held in the same manner as Couture.
A contract would only expire if the promotion chose not to book the fighter. The contracts a structured so a fighter can’t just refuse to fight and get out of the contract when the time is up.
The UFC will offer Rampage a fight and he’ll chose to accept it and return or decline it and remain under contract with the UFC indefinitely. If he changes his mind and wants to fight again it’ll either be in the UFC or he’ll have to settle with them to fight elsewhere.
I thought if he didn’t hold a title there is a time limit on the UFC’s contractual hold as well.. I could be wrong tho.
Rampage will be back…He loves to fight more than anything. I think that he’ll take some time to be with his family, the vacation will be nice, and he’ll be ready to fight again.
