From the beginning, Tim Means put the pressure on TUF finalist Dhiego Lima through all 8-points of contact. It was an excellent showing of purely overwhelming offense on Means’s part. He got the action started off with a big knee in the clinch that buckled Lima’s legs, and from there, it was a survival game for Dhiego.
Means methodically kept the pressure coming throw a crisp tight clinch game, including left elbows that stunned Lima even more. Dhiego Lima threw back and did all he could to recover, but eventually a straight left put Lima down and Means finished it off.
In what should have been a closely matched contest, Tim Means completely shut Lima down on this UFC 184 card. Lima didn’t get a chance to work his suffocating ground game at all, and looked like he had a difficult time dealing with the taller Tim Means in the clinch. At 170 lbs, Tim Means looks like a serious force; he isn’t drawn out and easy to over-power like he was at 155 pounds. Through his relentless offense and venomous clinch work, Tim Means highly resembles that of Matt Brown. We’ll see if Tim “Dirty Bird” Means can continue his momentum.
