Adrenaline MMA Results: Tim Sylvia and Houston Alexander Victorious

Two former UFC stars were in action last night at Adrenaline MMA IV in Council Bluffs, Iowa, among others. Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia and UFC light heavyweight fighter Houston Alexander were both looking to pick up much needed wins when they stepped inside the cage last night, and both did just that.
Sylvia earned a first round knock out over the relatively inexperience Jason Riley. After peppering him with combinations and strikes in the clinch, Sylvia finally felled Riley with a left hand that led the referee to stop the bout.
Alexander also earned a first round knock out over his opponent, Sherman Pendergarst, though his was a little quicker. Alexander opened the bout with leg kicks, then finished off Pendergarst with a series of knees to the body.
Videos of both Sylvia’s and Alexander’s bouts can be found below. The full results for the event were:

glad to see Houston back in the win column…and to see Sylvia not dead in a gutter… not bashing him but man he looked like he’d been on a serious bender before the Mercer fight.
Wow, Houston looked great and im not a big Houston fan. I like how he pretty much ended the fight without throwing any punches. Impressive kicks.
Nebraska in Da House! Good for Alexander, I’ve always dug that guy,I also enjoy the type of guy he is (saving children in cars, giving his kidney to his kid, raising his kids seems like a standup type of fellow) and it is cool to hear he got the win from what I understand via brutal leg kicks, maybe he is rounding out his game (finally?)
Timmmeehh, good you got the win, well you should have won this… He weighed 286 for this bout not 312 soo that’s a start.. I’m not a fan of Slyvia’s but I hope that he starts getting a little more serious about MMA, he has mentioned going to land of the rising sun only time will tell… Nice he got the W
Dear Houston Alexander,
Great leg kicks, but i’m guessing you still don’t have a ground game.
Sincerely,
Eric “Red” Schafer
Good to see that goober Tim Sylvia back in fight shape. I agree, he was looking like he fell off the Mcdonalds wagon before the Mercer fight. Still is vulnerable to that overhand right keeping his left hand down like that. Hit that guy right on the temple though with that left, dropped him like a big ol’ sack of potatoes.
Its going to be hard at HA’s age to develop into a world-class wrestler or BJJ master.
At this stage of his career he needs to concentrate on mastering sprawl and brawl, takedown defense, and escapes like Chuck Liddell used to bust.
Otherwise, Alexander won’t survive in the UFC, which is ground-pounder heavy and getting moreso every year…
i guess that i missed the story that houston had been cut. i would have liked to see him against chuck. perhaps that might happen eventually if houston keeps winning.. because he knows that nebraska is still in the house..
This was a tune-up fight, outside the UFC. He has not been cut.
Correct Alexander has actually signed an extension to his contract 5 fights I believe, he asked Joe Silva if he could take a bout outside of the UFC so he didn’t aquire “ring rust” and obviously Joe Silva said ok..
Geez, that announcer is annoying.

The announcer was great. ” AND HE IS LIMPING !!!!!!!!!!!!” lol. made it exciting to watch.
bleh, agree to disagree…he was too vivacious for me. There’s definitely a line, and when you cross it you become distracting imo.
thanks justin that was good, you remind me of my brother moe, he’s a great guy
Good to see Alexander pick up a win, and to see Sylvia not further embarrass himself with another puzzling loss…
Good to see them both back at winning although houston Needs one more i think. That announcer was kickass i think got the figths pumped up reminds me of a soccer announcer gettin **** amped.
