It’s prediction time again here at MMAFrenzy.com, and I’m going to channel my inner “Carnac the Magnificent” and try to tell you what’s on the other side of tonight’s fights. Some of the other staff from the site have joined in as well.
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)
Vitor Belfort vs. Rich Franklin Prediction:
Belfort def. Rich Franklin via (T)KO — Round 2
I personally will be pulling for Rich Franklin to pick up another victory in this bout, as I’m sure many other fans will be as well. However, Vitor Belfort has been on a role lately and has devastating power in his speedy hands. If Franklin can avoid Belfort’s power, he has a chance at pulling this victory out with a decision, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think Belfort is going to be too quick and too strong for Franklin, and will pull off the TKO in the second round. Franklin will be smart, and careful enough to avoid Belfort’s power for a while, but eventually he will be too slow getting out of the way of Belfort’s hands and will get caught.
Junior Dos Santos vs. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic Prediction:
Junior dos Santos def. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic via (T)KO — Round 1
Like the last bout, I will likely be pulling for the fighter I see as the underdog, Cro Cop is a legend, and I really want him to do well this time around in the UFC. Cro Cop is a top level striker, and has knocked out some of the best fighters in the world, but in recent years he seems to have lost some of his speed and power. Junior dos Santos is a hungry young fighter, with dynamite in his hands, and impressive speed. Cro Cop’s ability to avoid damage recently has been suspect in m opinion, and I think that dos Santos will overwhelm him early and not let up, putting him down in the first round.
Martin Kampmann vs. Paul Daley Prediction:
Martin Kampmann def. Paul Daley via submission — Round 1
Paul Daley is making his UFC debut filling in for Mike Swick on short notice, though he was already slated to fight on the card. Kampmann is a top level fighter, who boasts heavy hands and a strong ground game. Daley is an outstanding stand up fighter, with knock out power, but Kampmann is no slouch in the striking department. The difference in this fight will likely be Daley’s relative lack of a ground game. I expect Kampmann to take Daley down early and ground and pound his way beyond Daley’s submission defense, and eventually lock in a fight ending submission.
Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg Prediction:
Frank Trigg def. Josh Koscheck via unanimous decision
I think that Trigg and Koscheck are similar fighters, and I think that Trigg’s experience will pay dividends in this fight. Both fighters have good hands, and good wrestling and this fight could take place anywhere. Though both fighters are capable of ending fights, I don’t see it happening in this one, especially since I’m predicting Trigg for the win and his last few have come via decision. I will admit that I’m partly selected with my heart and not my head on this one, I just really like watching Koscheck lose.
Hermes Franca vs. Tyson Griffin Prediction:
Tyson Griffin def. Hermes Franca via unanimous decision
Tyson Griffin is a top level fighter from Sacramento with a strong wrestling base. He has won multiple “Fight of the Night” honors and will definitely be pushing the action against Hermes Franca tonight. Franca has shown a past weakness against strong wrestlers and I expect more of the same here. I believe Griffin will grind out a decision with crisper striking on the feet, and some quality take downs and top control.
PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)
Erain Escudero vs. Cole Miller Prediction:
Cole Miller def. Efrain Escudero via submission — Round 2
Escudero is a strong wrestler with capable ground and pound, but I think Miller is the more complete fighter and will catch Escudero in the second, possibly set up by rocking him standing.
Tomasz Drwal vs. Drew McFedries Prediction:
Drew McFedries def. Tomasz Drwal via (T)KO — Round 1
This bout will probably be over quick. Both men have won “Knockout of the Night” honors in previous outings, and will likely come out swinging for the fences. In some ways I think the outcome of this fight depends on who connects first, and I think that will be McFedries, who I also believe possesses more power.
PRELIMINARY CARD (Non-Televised)

- Jim Miller def. Steve Lopez via submission — Round 1
- Rafaello Oliveira def. Nick Lentz via split decision

- Elliot Marshall def. Jason Brilz via submission — Round 2

FR702’s UFC 103 PREDICTIONS
- Rich Franklin def. Vitor Belfort via unanimous decision
I honestly believe that Rich will win this via UD, and stay just a step ahead of Vitor… Belfort isn’t going to run straight out and attack wildly but for some reason I just see Rich being the victor in this bout… Watchout for the left Rich because if you get touched you might go down… - Junior dos Santos def. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic via (T)KO — round 1
As much as I personally want to see the Left High Kick ko from Cro Cop, I have to admit that I see dos Santos winning this bout in first via (t)ko. - Martin Kampmann def. Paul Daley via submission — Round 2
Paul Daley stepping up and face a very tough guy on short notice, I was seriously looking forward to seeing Swick v Kampmann but hey this will do. No doubt that Daley holds power, and really needs to work on his ground technique I just see Martin overwhelming him with speed and takedowns and Kampmann wins this via submission in round 2. I see this fight being very similar to Kampmann v McFedries. - Josh Koscheck def. Frank Trigg via unanimous decision
Welcome back Trigg, for your first fight you have to face a guy that is just as good as you in wrestling someone who has better submission technique than you do and perhaps has faster more powerful hands. Plus you dissed me and Eric at the Loews in Philly, I do however believe that this fight will go to a decision and it will be unanimous for Koscheck. - Tyson Griffin def. Hermes Franca via unanimous decision
I see this being a battle of wills and I can’t bring myself to give Franca the win by any means. Sure he hits hard and has great subs but Griffin can take a punch and we all know that he DOES NOT TAP. Franca has his own issues with strong wrestlers, so in this fight I’m going with Griffin via unanimous decision. - Cole Miller def. Efrain Escudero via unanimous decision
- Drew McFedries def. Tomasz Drawl via unanimous decision
- Jim Miller def. Steve Lopez via (T)KO — round 2
- Rafaello Oliveira def. Nick Lentz via submission — Round 2
- Brian Foster def. Rick Story via unanimous decision
- Elliot Marshall def. Jason Brilz via submission — Round 2
- Vladimir Matyushenko def. Igo Pokrajac via (T)KO — Round 2
- Rafael dos Anjos def. Rob Emerson via unanimous decision

nice picks guys, fr’s got it right when it comes to the main event rich is gonna get better as the fight goes on and vitor is gonna get slower and less threatening, rich is gonna be to smart and too evasive of vitor’s power to get caught by him in the first or second….rich by UD
P.S. Where is eric’s pick?….I miss eric he doesnt come around much anymore
I assume he’s just been busy with other things and hasn’t had much time for Frenzy as I haven’t heard from his in quite a while.
I’m here! and I shall return to posting soon enough
I don’t know about the Franklin prediction. I think Belfort could finish this fight with a one punch KO. But if Franklin take Belfort down, in my opinion, he’ll for sure. Belfort already have problems with ground-n-pound fighters and Rich got great skills at it.
For Cro Cop v.s Dos Santos, I’ll go with you guys. Dos Santos will win by KO.
Have a great fight night!
Vitor Belfort vs. Rich Franklin
- Vitor Belfort via tko or ko …he’s coming for you Anderson….
Mirko Cro-cop vs Junior Dos Santos
-Mirko Cro-cop via tko or ko…most likely via Left Kick Of Doom, Dos Santos is still too green and hasn’t had big fight experience where Cro-cop has fought the best in the world and being the Dos Santos is somewhat underestimating Cro-cop i feel he’ll get careless and give Cro-cop a chance to land his “Widower”.
Frank Trigg vs Josh Koscheck
-Frank Trigg via decision or tko…Koscheck has a weak chin and overrated stand-up,Twinletoes will get the upset
Martin Kampmann vs Paul Daley
-Paul Daley via tko or ko…..believe it, Daley will mess things up the rankings at 170….rememeber that I MK4 called this outcome
Hermes Franca vs Tyson Griffin
-Hermes Franca via sub..Tyson is very good, but Franca is bigger and has better BJJ AND Tyson doesn’t have ko power
Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller
-Cole Miller via sub…although Miller is kinda fruity he’s got subs
Tomasz Drwal vs. Drew McFedries
-Drew Mcfedries vis tko or ok….unless Drwal has subs he’s going to sleep
franklin, crocop. i have faith!
Belfort v Franklin = Belfort via TKO
Belfort is awesome and I just want to see franklin get destroyed again.
I think Belfort is on a collision course with Anderson Silva. That would be an amazing fight
Franklin by tko 3rd round
Cro Cop tko 2nd round
Kampmann sub (rear naked choke?) 2nd
Kos ko 2-3 round
Tyson UD
franklin vs belfort- franklin tko round 1
mirko cro cop vs junior dos santos- cro cop tko round 1

Cro Cop via headkick
Kampman via strikes
Trigg via SD
Griffin via UD
Miller sub rd 1
Drew KO first 2 min
Don’t really care bout the rest yo :D
Do you guys think if the free fights are over quickly, they will show one of the un-televised fights from the undercard? I’d love to see Matyushenko.
- Franklin vs. Belfort
This one is tough for me, because these guys are equally good and entertaining fighters and from my impression both great people. So i’m going on who I think is going to be the more proficient striker. Now I think that Franklin has the ability to out box Belfort 3 rounds and win a UD. But i’m going to go against that, because in recent bouts Belfort has really looked sharp, and more importantly patient on the feet. If he stands and boxes with Franklin waits untill he rocks Rich then closes in for a classic Belfort flurry for the close he will win.
2nd round tko for Belfort.
- Junior dos Santos vs. Cro Cop
This one is tough too call simply because we havn’t seen enough of Santos vs. higher level competition. We also havn’t seen Cro Cop fight like the higher level competition we know he can be. So i’m going to base my prediction on their last couple of fights.
Junior dos Santos 1rst rnd KO.
- Martin Kampmann vs. Paul Daley
Sorry Paul you drew the short straw on your UFC debut and on semi short notice. Be prepared to get your **** whoooped all 3 rnds.
Kampmann 30-26 UD
- Josh Koscheck vs. Twinkle Toes
I’ve never really enjoyed watching either of these guys fight, but i’m somewhat interested by this matchup somehow. I think we’ll see Kos go back to his bread and butter and take Franky down and beat him up. I hope this isn’t the case but I have a feeling Frank will fall into his old ways turning over giving up his back and getting RNC’d
Koscheck RNC rnd 2
- Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca
This is going to be FOTN type stuff, mark my words. These guys are going to slug and roll 3 rounds straight. To be honest I would love to see Hermes chuck a sloppy one from his knee like he did against Spencer but it won’t happen.
Griffin UD 29-28
-Efrain Escudero Vs. Cole Miller – Cole “TUF Destroyer” Miller via. triangle rnd 2
-Drew McFedries Vs. Tomasz Drwal – Tomasz KO rnd 1
-Jim Miller Vs. Steve Lopez – Jim Miller UD 30-27
-Rafaello Oliveira Vs. Nik Lentz – Rafa via. arm bar rnd 3
-Rick Story Vs. Brian Foster – Foster tko rnd 3
-Eliot Marshall Vs. Jason Brilz – Jason Brilz via. UD 30-27 more dirty lnp
-Vladimir Matyushenko Vs. Igor Pokrajac – The Janitor via TKO rnd 3
-Rob Emerson Vs. Rafael Dos Anjos – Emerson via. white suburban gang shooting.
All the mods pick Dos Santos? Didn’t expect that. True, Crocop has looked a bit sluggish as of late, but I think he’ll hurt this kid with some early strikes. Not sure if Dos Santos knows what to expect from Mirko’s power.
Jusin is a writer/admin,, Kris well he is the owner of the FrenZy ie da Boss, I’m just a little o mod
Mind you I would LOVE to see the LHK KTFO by Cro Cop but honestly as much as I would like to have that happen, I just see dos Santos winning this bout… I pick dos Santos v Werdum way back then and I think not only does he have ko power his ground game is tops too, perhaps he will be “too much” for CC but in my heart of hearts I do want to see the LHK of doom
I hear that. Im not saying I can see why you guys picked him, its just wishful thinking on my part! And YES, LHK! Dos Santos is no joke! I’d like to see him fight Kongo or Cain!
Befort,Cro cop,Triggs,Franca
Wow Matyushenko is fighting I didn’t even see that.. sweet he is a beast.. after throwing his opponent around a bit like a girl he will finish it in the second :D
Belfort def. Franklin.. TKO/KO late 2nd 3.30-4.30/ early 3rd 0.30-2.00
Dos Santos def. Crocop.. TKO/KO mid 1st round {2.30-3.30 mark}
Daley def. Kampmann.. Late 1st KO {3.30-4.30 mark}
{not really my smartest pick just a feeling}
Koscheck def. Trigg.. Unanimous decision {29-28}
Griffin def. Franca.. Unanimous decision {30-27}
I didn’t call these fights the best by the way they would finish but here is how the fight went down compared to my predictions
-Vitor Belfort def. Rich Franklin via KO — 3:02 Round 1
-Junior Dos Santos def. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic via verbal submission (strikes) — 2:00 Round 3
-Paul Daley def. Martin Kampmann via TKO — 2:31 Round 1
-Josh Koscheck def. Frank Trigg via TKO — 1:25 Round 1
-Tyson Griffin def. Hermes Franca via KO — 3:26 Round 2
-Belfort def. Franklin.. TKO/KO late 2nd 3.30-4.30/ early 3rd 0.30-2.00
-Dos Santos def. Crocop.. TKO/KO mid 1st round {2.30-3.30 mark}
-Daley def. Kampmann.. Late 1st KO {3.30-4.30 mark}
{not really my smartest pick just a feeling}
-Koscheck def. Trigg.. Unanimous decision {29-28}
-Griffin def. Franca.. Unanimous decision {30-27}
When you compare them you see
Belfort/ TKO was right {time wrong}
Dos Santos TKO was right {time wrong}
Daley TKO 2.31 1st{my guess: KO/3.30-4.30 1st}
Koscheck {wrong finish / time}
Griffin {wrong finish / time}
Wow didn’t see a finish coming from Tyson I mean all he had in the UFC up to this point was Decisions for the most part no TKO/KO’s,
but I shouldn’t be so suprised knowing that he did TKO Urijah Faber
Good job…I just usually use a magic 8 ball…
;)
with most of these fights to night you probably could of used a magic 8 ball lol I mean these fights on paper are as close to 50/50 as you’ll see.
