Cesar Gracie stated that Nate was “grumpy” and having a difficult time cutting to 155 sooo this should be interesting

  • -I think that Melvin Guillard has matured and become a lot better overall. The dude already has killer ko power but has always been a reckless brawiling approach, but i feel that he has sort of gotten rid of that just a little bit and seems to want to become a more well rounded tachnical fighter which would be better for a guy as young and with the amount of potential that he has. Nate Diaz said in a recent pre-fight interview that “i’ve been waiting for someone to want to fight with me, have a good scrap and put on a stand-up show”….i hope he realizes that Melvin can knock him out with one punch and not even blink, not that Melvin is the best striker out there it’s just that i don’t feel Diaz has good stand-up at all and i don’t feel that he can take a big punch. Diaz’s best bet is to take the fight to the ground and get sub because Guillard has been notorious for not having the best ground game and not having any sub defense. I thnk that this will be Diaz’s 3rd loss in a row and Melvin will take this fight, he’s more agile, athletic, stronger and he seems more grounded and focused than Diaz who is always kinda cocky and overconfident before fights.

Guillard via t(ko) in the 1st or 2nd

-I think that most people have just assumed that Huerta is coming into this fight with Maynard with not a care in the world just to get beat up. I know that this is his last fight on his contract but Huerta has always been a dude who is very passionate in his fights and takes every opponent seriously. He looks to be taking this fight serious like i expected. Huerta has better overall striking and i feel is more well rounded than Maynard. Although Maynard is a fantastic wrestler, he also has improved his stand-up but it’s still not at the level that most Maynard fans say it is. Maynad can out muscle Huerta and decision or gNp Huerta but Huerta has sub skills, something that Maynard does not and Huerta has sick leg kicks. Maynard can win if he takes the fight to the ground, but i feel that Huerta has the advantage on the stand-up and possibly in the subs for sure, Maynard is bigger so that could play a factor in this fight, but i’m going with the Matador, he’s more well rounded, he can take a punch and still threaten and since they both have great cardio i’m expecting a war, but Huerta has more heart IMO so i’m picking Huerta to win.

    huerta via sub or decision.

  • Gunslinger says:

huerta doesnt have more heart..are you kidding me mk4…if he had more heart he’d actually fight……huerta doesnt have a fighters heart as much as gray does…….huerta has one advantage and guess what that advantage isnt good enough to catch maynard…….maynard survived on the ground with both rich clementi and jim miller both of which are better on the ground than roger HUERTA!……huerta striking is sloppy not good….see kenny/guida fight or any of the other CANS he fought in the ufc besides jason dent…dent almost finished him with an omoplata………..but anyways i really think your underating grays boxing skills…and his ability to control his opponent on the mat…..huerta will have no answer for gray’s ground and pound in side control and you know it…huerta wont be strong enough to reverse him and grays sub defense is to good for huertas small advantage in the jui jitsu game to play a factor…huerta’s movie star looks will be ruduced to hamburger meat after grays down with him

    • gunslinger,

dude i think Maynard has awesome control that will for sure give Huerta some problems. I’m not underestimating Maynard as you are Huerta. I know that Huerta wants to act and all that but that does not make him a bad fighter dude. AND i don’t know why your hating on his win over Guida because if memory serves right that was fight of the year, and Guida is no pushover. I admt that Huerta has somewhat of sloppy brawl style of striking but it’s still effective non the less and he has gotten better and more tachnical. Maynard does have improved bosing but not as to the point you and carls are always saying. If Maynard’s boxing is better than what i feel it is he’ll prove it tommorow, but Huerta whether you like it or not has better overall striking and Miller and Clementi might be better on the ground than Huerta, but they are not durable nor are as tough as Huerta period. Huerta does have a fighters spirit and has shown that in most of his fights. Although i feel that Maynard poses a lot of problems for Huerta, if the Guida fight showed anything it’s that Huerta can not only take a beating, but come back from that and rise to the occasion, and i don’t see how you can caLL Ken-flo a “CAN” when he just fought for the title, something your boy Maynard still hasn’t even come close to.

This will be a good fight, i for sure will not be surprised when Huerta beats Maynard, Gun. i think your dislike for Huerta has made you not give him his due credit in terms of the fact that he has a way better chance at beating Maynard than you give him.

      • Gunslinger says:

i was saying besides kenny, guida, and jason dent the rest where cans brought in to lose to huerta…..besides dent because jason is my boy…but also i saw a sherdog article that expresses and explains how i feel the match will go also

        http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/2/UFC-Fight-Night-19-Preview-The-Main-Card-19698

I believe the fight will play out just like it says in the bottom line by Tomas Rios

      • carls says:

At this point Gun we dont have to defend Gray anymore(although its fun doing it)
The guy will speak for himself when he smashes Huerta. he might not beat Penn but he has a good enough skill set to give him a tough fight.

For anyone who doesnt think so just look at what Kenny was able to do against BJ up against the cage. Now imagine if Gray does that who is bigger and stronger that Florian. Plus Gray has much better takedown defence than florian so wont get put on his back so easily.

Gray has good enough takedowns and wrestling to beat anyone at 155 who has better stand up than him and better boxing than anyone who can threaten him on the matt with good subs. Gray will beat everyone at 155 save BJ, who he has a shot at taking down and pounding on for five rounds should he ever get his shot.

Anyone who doubt this just needs to sit back and watch.

      • carls,

dude Maynard will get tko’d or ko’d by Penn AND Penn has waay better taledown defense than Gray does, GSP at 170 had trouble taking Penn down so what mnakes you think Maynard will have more success than St. Pierre at getting BJ to the ground? \

Even if Maynard wins he’s boys with Penn so that will be interesting, AND a win over my boy El Matador still IMO does NOT justify a title shot for Maynard at all,…but since there will be nobody left for BJ to fight he might get his shot if and it’s a big IF, if he can get passed El Mata-fu*king-DOR…

  • jcohl says:

At this point I’m actually more willing to pay good money to see the frenZy’s resident Maynard-ian and anti-Maynardian square off in the cage, instead of the objects of their fan affections…
    ;)
And personally Nate Diaz can’t join his brother Nick is Strikeforce fast enough for my liking. They both are as appropriately palatable IMO as bong water…
