Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Debuts Against Luis Cane at UFC 106

Luiz CaneAntonio Rogerio Nogueira will make his UFC debut against Luis Cane at UFC 106 on November 21 in Las Vegas, according to Sherdog, which reports that the pair of Brazilians have agreed to the fight but that bout agreements are still pending for the light heavyweight matchup.

Nogueira (17-3), the twin brother of UFC heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, is currently riding a five-fight win streak that includes victories over Edwin Dewees and Vladimir Matyushenko at Affliction’s two MMA events, as well as his most-recent win in May over Dion Staring.

After suffering a DQ loss to James Irvin in his UFC debut in late-2007, Cane (10-1) has won three-straight over Jason Lambert, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, and Steve Cantwell.

UFC 106 is headlined by Brock Lesnar’s heavyweight title defense against Shane Carwin and is also rumored to include Tito Ortiz vs. Mark Coleman and Phil Baroni vs. Amir Sadollah.

I like that fight a lot. This is no gimme fight for Nogueira though. Cane is very tough and will push him hard. I like Lil Nog by decision though.

I also like that it won’t cost me a dime to see this card.

  • Justin says:

Still not the fight I was talking about. Not sure if it’s going to come through or not.

I do like this fight however, and again this is another great card for the UFC. Just a couple days ago people were talking about the fall lineups being weak… not looking so weak now.

    • Jazzkok says:

If this isn’t the fight you mentioned then i’m starting to get hella curious about the one you were talking about. But thanks for keeping us posted Justin, like i said bro, you the man!

This is a great match for both fighters, although I wonder if winning this match will do enough for cain’s credibility @ entering the “elite” @ 205 since lil nog is not that big of a name and not well known to the UFC world.

AWESOME FIGHT RIGHT HERE , I HEARD A RUMOR THE OTHER DAY THAT THIS FIGHT WAS GONNA HAPPEN AND I THINK IT WILL BE GREAT ! EVEN WITH THE GREAT STAND UP LIL NOG HAS CANE WILL BRUTALIZE HIM ON THE FEET WHILE NOG SHAKES OFF THE OCTAGON JITTERS THEN NOG WILL GET IT TO THE GROUND LATE IN RD 2 AND BEND CANES ARM IN THE WRONG DIRECTION ! CANT WAIT

    • jcohl says:

I figured out the fight that Justin is talking about.
Its the Jarad Hamman-Alex Gustaffson throwdown, right?
      ;)

      • Justin says:

Definitely not. My source said this afternoon he hadn’t heard anything, but as far as he knew it was still in the works. This morning he thought it wouldn’t be long before he could report it, but that’s obviously incorrect. He told me he would let me know what it was if it doesn’t work out anyways, so… either way, I will pass the info on to you guys.

      • Justin says:

If you want to find out what that rumored bout was, head to the forum section.

  • L4E1X5 says:

Damn, I wasn’t expecting this, but im excited about this fight! HELLA.

  • jcohl says:

Well, for all of you Luis Cane supporters out there who were carrying on about how you wanted your man to get tougher competition, all I can say is be careful what you wish for, because you got it, in spades.
There is a notable difference in level of competition between Steve Cantwell and LittleNog, no disrespect to Cantwell intended.

And yeah, all of you still crying about the quality of this 105 free-per-view should wipe those noses and dry those eyes, because even though I don’t even remotely support the behind-the-scenes bullsh!t politics which is the primary factor, it looks like you’ll be getting Hendo-Marqaurdt in addition to LittleNog’s UFC debut.
Also, the Brits will be getting their man Bisping in what should be an entertaining and winnable fight [for him], and Hardy-Kim isn’t exactly going to su<k either…

    • MR.BUSHIDO says:

CAN NEVER COMPLAIN ABOUT A FREE EVENT ! I PAY 54.95 FOR EVERY ONE AND A FREE ONE IS ALWAYS A WELCOME THING IN MY HOUSE , BUT YOUR RIGHT THIS CARD IS GONNA BE GOOD … HARDY WILL IMPRESS ONCE AGAIN !

      • jcohl says:

        Agreed.
At $55 a shot, its nice to catch a free one every now and again, plus it helps the sport grow in the UK…

      • carls says:

Yes Jochl BUT Luis Cane smashed someone by the name of Sokoudjou, who in turn turned put a hurtin on lil nog. Not that it means much but just puttin it out their.

Great free card by the way.

  • Eye-Rhyme says:

This is one of the best free cards offered…
I have been a fan off MMA for a couple years now…
and I must say that this is one the best free cards.
Hopefully all of these fights are made official.

  • Bzul3 says:

Luis Cane takes this one. 2nd or 3rd round TKO. And yes I am a Cain follower!!!

    • MR.BUSHIDO says:

yeah carls your right but sokoudjou really stunk it up in the cage where lil nog will not . lil nog is a whole other level , but i agree cane keeps it interesting till nog puts him on his back

  • yoyoma says:

  • Eye-Rhyme says:

    AWWW MAN THAT SUCKS.
105 WAS LOOKING REALLY GOOD AND THEN THIS HAPPENS.
    I’M TIRED OF THOSE FALSE REPORTS…THEY SHOULDN’T
LEAK INFO THAT ISN’T ACCURATE. I WAS PUMPED FOR
    105.
    THANKS FOR THE UPDATE.

  • chrisl says:

you know i like this MATHCUP ;) too.

Too bad it’s not on 105 but lets be honest I’m still going to watch 105 and 106

  • jpmm says:

It seem to happen all to often with the UK cards, there was talk of Machida fighting Thiago Silva in Birmingham which never materialised, same with Liddell against Shogun at the last London card. Now here we go again with Manchester, Penn/Sanchez is no more and now Nogueria is moved to an alternate card.

Although I bought my ticket for 105 this morning and can’t wait to go, its a damn shame, as is the fact that this will be my 6th event i’ve attended and i’ve only ever seen 1 title fight (Rampage/Henderson).

  • Justin says:

Regardless of where this takes place, I think it will be an awesome fight.

  • TheCoach says:

I hate to say it, but the UFC is biting off more they it can chew
