Gegard Mousasi Off DREAM 11, “JZ” Cavalcante vs. Nakamura Announced for October 6
A shoulder injury likely suffered in an August grappling exhibition against Fedor Emelianenko has forced Gegard Mousasi out of DREAM’s “Super Hulk” tournament and a semifinals matchup against Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, which had been set to take place at DREAM 11 on October 6 at the Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa, Japan.
Mousasi, the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and former DREAM middleweight title-holder, was submitted by Fedor with an armbar in the August 28 exhibition at M-1: Breakthrough.
Hong Man Choi and Ikuhisa Minowa will meet in the other “Super Hulk” semifinal bout at DREAM 11, while a replacement opponent will soon be announced for Sokoudjou.
The promotion also announced on Wednesday that lightweights Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante (14-3-1) and Daisuke Nakamura (20-10) would meet at the event, which will be televised in North America on HDNet.

Good to see JZ getting back in there, the Mousasi Man injured his shoulder during the “exhibition” (rumor), well perhaps he might defend his LHW title before the years end with proper rehab and all
…. I would assume that Bob Sapp will comeback into the tourney he is always a draw in Japan… DREAM.11 is going to be awesome, being a fan of MMA I can’t wait for the DREAM shows or the WVR shows, some wonderful fights happen over sea’s, plus you get the greatness of the Super Hulk Tourney, can’t beat it…
* forgot to add that I’m not sure Aoki v HellBoy will happen anytime soon, Joachim just doesn’t seem to want to defend his title, and is always seems to be walking away from a fight at the last minute..
yes you are correct bob sapp is replacing mousasi , and i too cant wait to watch dream 11 . i know people have alot of bad things to say about mma overseas but in my opinion dream , just like pride can really put on a show , the intros alone are crazy along with the fights it is usually a great event to watch ! cant wait
i thought hellboy and aoki was a done deal ?
HellBoy v Aoki has been signed before and well HellBoy would come up with misterious situations and couldn’t fight….They should just get this one over with and I’ve been waiting for awhile to see, soo essentially just cross your fingers and we will find out come DREAM.11
I’m hoping that Gegard Mousasi has a clause in his contract that states if he gets needlessly injured in a worthless grappling exhibition against an oversized opponent and in an imaginary MMA promotion, he’s free to seek employment elsewhere…

Also hoping he recovers quickly and suffers no lingering after-effects.
2 fights left with FEG and 2 fights contracted with Strikeforce, he for now isn’t going to the UFC perhaps late 2010 or early 2011
I saw this somewhere else today…
“awwwww…nevermind…”
Definitely good to see JZ back in action.
Disappointed that Mousasi got injured, I was looking forward to seeing him face Sokoudjou. Not sure who we will see brought back, though I suppose Sapp is a possibility, or maybe they’ll bring in someone else that wasn’t already a part of the tournament.
I really hope that we will actually get to see Hansen v. Aoki, and he won’t pull out due to a mysterious head injury again.
Man, Minowa is always involved in some crazy matchup lol. I can’t wait to see Hansen and Aoki though. Gotta pull for Hellboy in this one but should be a great fight.
