Dan Miller Out, Newcomer Jay Silva In Against CB Dollaway at UFN 19
An infection has forced middleweight Dan Miller to withdraw from his scheduled matchup against CB Dollaway at UFC Fight Night 19 on September 16 in Oklahoma City. According to MMA Madness, which first reported the injury on Tuesday, newcomer Jay Silva has agreed to replace Miller and make his Octagon debut against Dollaway on less than two-weeks notice.
Silva (5-0) remained undefeated in August with a third-round knockout of Ray Lizama at a “Call to Arms” event. He has never gone the distance, scoring four knockouts and one submission in his five professional fights.
Dollaway (8-2), the runner-up on The Ultimate Fighter 7 who lost to Amir Sadollah at the June 2008 finale, bounced back with wins over Jesse Taylor and Mike Massenzio before losing to Tom Lawlor in July at UFC 100.
Silva-Dollaway is slated for the preliminary card of the Spike TV-televised event, which is co-headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Melvin Guillard and Gray Maynard vs. Roger Huerta.

I cant beleive how many pull outs there are from fights recently.
Probably has to do with the fact there are more cards, so guys figure if they pull out they can still get on another one hopefully.
I think in the past a lot of guys fought with injuries because they may not get another shot. Add in the “3 and out rule” and guys are more hesitant to go in under 95%.
Of course that’s just speculation.
Yea, I wouldn’t argue against it man
Speculation it may be, but it sounds on-point to me.
Both the external and internal changes in the sport will probably have a lot of unforseen effects, such as this, and Rampage and Carano in Hollywood.
Not saying its either a good or a bad thing, just saying that it is…
Jay Silva is a very good fighter, I wouldnt be surprised if he takes this one. I saw him fight out here in Cali a couple of times, and hes from Rampage’s camp. He has really good power and quick punches. Im interested to see how this fight turns out.
dang it……i really was looking for cb to pull the upset over dan milller…but now i have to worry about him getting upset over a really good fighter
cb is gone after this fight. he looked terrible in his last loss to lawlor.
Awesome another silva for me to distinguish(sp) for my casual fan friends.
Silva hasnt fought anybody thats even a c level fighter yet though so he might get himself in trouble rolling around on the matt with CB.
Too bad. Dan Miller would have been a tough fight for CB. Never heard of Jay Silva before but hopefully they can put on a show.
I’m not even remotely close to being considered a fan of CB but that peruvian necktie is pretty sick. I hope to see it used again.
i think this fight is dangerous for Dolloway, if he ends up losing to this new guy he might be in danger of going down a Mac Danzig type road or somewhat in that TUF fighter that never lived up to the hyype type thing. But on paper he should do just fine unless this new guy “Werdums”,”Pauolo Thiago’s” CB with an upset.
Agreed.
Dolloway was previously in a “win or walk” scenario with Miller IMO, and I don’t see much changing, unless he gets cut yet more TUF slack, or they throw him a pass because of a relatively late opponent switch.
The talent level is rising fast in the UFC at almost every weightclass, and a seemingly slow developer like Dolloway won’t have the time to get where he needs to be like he might have 4-5 years ago.
Not to be overly critical, but getting submitted by Amir Sadollah [twice] and Tom Lawlor in a 13 month span isn’t going to wow the crowd or your employer.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m thinking if he loses this fight, he loses his job, which suck$ for us, because we also lose the Peruvian necktie finisher…
agreed buddy, i’m not a CB fan nor a detractor, but this dude is in trouble if he loses this fight especially to a new guy. It just sucks because when he was with Rampage on TUF, he was thought to be one of the more talented guys if not the biggest threat to the contract and now we see him like Kendal Grove and Danzig and these other guys like Nate Diaz fighting for his UFC life and now there is even more pressure because he is expected to win against the underdog “newcomer”.
i think that a problem with these “TUF Fighters” is that the UFC kinda overhypes them to be able to market them to the public being that they were on t.v making them somewhat “famous faces” to the audience, but a problem with that is that most of these guys are not as good as the UFC wants them to be, which to be fair puts these guys in tough spots to live up to that hype that the UFC has built around them. Some guys do deliver but most do not. CB IMO was one of those guys who still needs to develop and grow some more but because he comes from TUF people kind hold him a bit higher than other fighters who don’t come from TUF which is kinda unfair because truth be told that most guys on TUF are still rookies and just because the t/v show comes to an end does not mean that they automatically have grown to the extent of contenders or porssible contenders which puts pressure on them to perform like someone who’s been in the game a while when in reality they have just popped their UFC cherries so to speak.
You just gonna let these guys talk about your boy CB like that Gun?;)
They definitely feed the TUF guys other TUF guys. It seems to me that once the TUF alumni face real (non-TUF) competition, they often come out looking pretty bad more often than not.
I wonder if DB will fake tap to strikes in order to get a better position. If he doesn’t get caight this time.
I think this fight is now a lot easier for Dolloway, but I’m not sure, and will be pulling for Silva, because I don’t like Dolloway.
Just so you know, this Jay Silva dude’s opponents as listed on sherdog have a total record of 24 wins and 26 losses. Not really anyone I’ve ever heard of and no one that compares with CB. And I’m not a CB fan, but I think Silva may have got this call a little early.
