Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers Possible for October 10 in New Jersey
An upcoming Strikeforce event headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers could take place on October 10 in New Jersey, according to ESPN’s MMA Live.
Emelianenko’s Strikeforce debut was originally rumored for October, but Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced last month that it was instead expected to take place in November. It now appears, however, that the fight is again slated for October, giving the top heavyweights about six-weeks prepare for the bout since it was announced in late-August.
Emelianenko (30-1) brings a 26-fight win streak into the contest that includes a reign as the heavyweight champion of PRIDE as well as back-to-back victories over Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski in his most-recent fights.
Like Emelianenko, Rogers (10-0) is also coming off a first-round knockout of the former UFC heavyweight champion Arlovski. “Grim” defeated Abongo Humphrey in April in his Strikeforce debut and previously won three-straight fights in EliteXC.
A venue was not revealed for the possible date, and it is not yet clear whether the UFC will attempt to organize a card to counter-program the Showtime-televised event.

i think i would pi$$ my self is fedor gets ko’d in this fight the big girls blouse, sorry fr
but in my eyes hes ducked lesnar!!!
yeah he ducked a 6′3 265lbs guy with a 4-1 record, to fight a 6′5 265lbs guy with a 10-0 record. what a chicken
As most of you know I don’t like either Lesnar or Fedor. In fact if Shane and Brett win ill call it a good year. But lets not get crazy Brett is 2 inches taller but doesn’t nearly have the sheer strength Lesnar does. And by the eye ball test Brett is no where near the physical specimen Brock is. Along with that size comes a big time wrestling pedegree, so there is a reason Brock would be feared. And lets face it Rogers hasent faced legit comp at elitexc, he’s smashed cans.
ur missing the point, i wasn’t talking about the size i was talking about the fighting style, lesnar would get on top an smash the liveing sh!t out of fedor or any1 in fact, but im guessing ur a “old school” mma fan an lesnar is a fake wwe wrestler!! fedor ducked the ufc deal with it!!
No Personal attacks. – Justin
johnboy, face it the best fighter in the world is not in the ufc deal with that! brett has a way better stand up, and thats the only way to beat fedor is to catch him with a good punch. lesner wont beat carwin, and nog will tap him from his back. your hero lesner is a fluke, and his days are numbered. brock is the next bob sapp.
No fighter bashing, or personal attacks. -Justin
FIRST OFF I AM NEW ON HERE BUT FAR FROM NEW TO MMA , IN FACT I HAVE SPENT ALOT OF TIME READING THESE COMMENTS EVERYDAY AND I HAD TO GET IN AND SPIT SOME KNOWLEDGE ! I REALLY LIKE BRETT ROGERS BUT FEDOR WILL KILL HIM LIKE HE DOES EVERY ONE ELSE, AS FAR AS DUCKING BROCK GOES , I PERSONALLY THINK FEDOR IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD AND AS FAR AS PEOPLE SAYING HE HAS TO COME TO UFC TO FIGHT THE BEST , WHO WOULD THEY BE REFERRING TO : BROCK (NOT READY), NOG (WHO HE HAS ALREADY SMASHED), MIR (JOKE) , KONGO (NO GROUND WHAT SO EVER) , CARWIN (WHO I REALLY LIKE BUT HES NOT READY FOR FEDOR), DONT EVEN MENTION RANDY ANY MORE , CRO COP (UHHH NO ), VELAZQUEZ , DOS SANTOS, GONZAGA , THE ONE TO WATCH IN 2010 TODD DUFFEE . SOME DECENT TALENT , BUT LETS FACE IT FOLKS THE UFC IS STILL BUILDING THEIR HW DIVISION AND WITH SOME UP AND COMERS FOR SURE THEY DONT HAVE THE ELITE TALENT TO CHALLENGE FEDOR . WHO DOES YOU ASK , NO ONE SO KICK BACK AND WATCH HIM WALK THROUGH STRIKEFORCE UNSCATHED THEN RETIRE !
Well how do you argue with an entire post in all caps?
tea he ducked The UFC HW Champ, and the rest of the UFC HW division to make less money and to fight, less then the best HW fighters in the world, Because he is not one of them! imo
I dont think he ducked Lesnar at all. I think it was a bad move to not go to the UFC, but I doubt Lesnar was one of the reasons. Fedor fought the best of the best in Pride for a long time, I don’t think Lesnar scares him. IMO I see Fedor Zuluing Lesnar. Lesnar hasn’t fought anyone with half of Fedors skillset.
Lets go Brett “The Project” Rogers!!!!
Everyone loves a Cinderella story!
This isn’t WWE where Lesnar plays HEEL & Fedor would play FACE. This is real, Lesnar would get destroyed !
a 265 [maybe 300 pound monster come fight night] would get destroyed by
a michelin tire stuntman?brock nuetralizes his opponents strengths, gets close to them and smothers them, then hits them with his huge hands and strength… and im not even a brock fan, i dislike the guy, but he is smart enough to formulate a gameplan to beat his opponent who is more talented.Michelin Tire Stuntman? That’s funny, but very disrespectful to a very accomplished fighter. Like him or not. But, hey, whatever makes you feel good. There are many skilled mma fighters that don’t look like they belong on a Men’s Health cover spread
Point taken no need for the personal shot~ FR702
One of the best mixed martial artists can get call the Michelin Man, but I can’t state that he would wipe the floor with any of us? Seriously?
Its not truly up for debate….. I just ask for no personal attacks not too much to ask for, is it?
Support your argument Real Deal. In the last year Lesnar DESTROYED Couture and Mir, the best 2 the UFC has to offer. What has Fedor done lately?
ps. I’m a HUGE Fedor fan, but a bigger Lesnar fan if you didn’t already know.
the best 2 come on dude be serious.
October sounds GOOOD!
That leaves only for weeks for brother Grim to meet the real Grim Reaper.
Fedor is years ahead of Rogers as far as skill, speed, power and intelligence. Rogers’ size is his only advantage but that will mean nothing once Fedor drops him on the ground.
After Rogers I hope Fedor either comes to the UFC or fights Overeem. I just don’t see why Overeem would fight for Strikeforce again though, he seems to be getting a good push from K-1.
Fedor has a 3 fight/1year contract with StrikeForce and M~1 Global, so he isn’t going to the UFC anytime soon
just to be clear guys… randy and mir dont have half of fedor’s skillset? are you guys serious? fedor fought the best in pride? seriously? he fought lindland who was not a hw. zulu was considered the best? come on please dont insult me with your lack of mma knowledge. if your going to post stuff like that go somewhere else. we here at the frenzy are knowledgeable mma fans, not noob fans that can be brainwashed with thoughts that lindland and zulu [two of fedor's opponents in pride] were the best when they fought fedor.
Wahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Typical statement from a newbie and if you are not it is even worse.
Check Wikipedia for the full list of fighters Fedor fought in Pride.
You are not crowned Pride champion by fighting cans like Zulu.
Funny how you leave out prime Nog (twice), prime Cro Cop, prime Coleman (twice), prime Arona, prime Hunt and also that he was supposed to fight the #2 Ranked Heavyweight in the world in August, until that gentleman decided he needed a little something extra.
There are only a few fighters that could submit someone less than a minute after that Randleman Slam. If you’ve seen it you know what I’m talking about.
Obviously Zulu was a freak fight, just like Choi. As for Lindland, he beat him at his own game instead of steamrolling him and monkey fisting him to victory.
Remember, folks, M-1 Global controls Fedor’s contracts. If they see bigger profits with Strikeforce, then Fedor fights with Strikeforce. Unless, of course, if Fedor owns 51% or more of M-1. That, I don’t know.
When his 3 fight commitment is up with M-1 Global, we will have a better idea if he is ducking anyone.
HE has fought Big NOG 3x’s, Arona fight was in RINGS and was 9 years ago and Fedor’s fourth fight and Arona’s 3rd I doubt that is PRIME..
Yeah, he fought Nog 3 times, but one was a N/C so I left it out since it, you know, doesn’t count as a victory.
I dig your passion BigChris but I have to say that Fedor fought Matt Lindland @ Bodog Fight: Clash of Nations, and not in PRIDE, I will leave it at that…..
i know the list of guys fedor fought, and i was bringing up lindland because some numnuts said fedor fought the best there is. not knocking lindland, but there were better guys at that time that were available.
lindland was 212 for that fight he was hw, and fedor at 230 is not that big. “we here at the frenzy are knowledgeable mma fans” lmao i needed a good laugh today. you guy always bring up zulu, but he was undefeated when he fought fedor, but ok he not that good, but fedor killed him in 26 seconds so who cares. you try beating zulu in 26 seconds bignog couldnt do it, it took him 2:17.
fedor beat nog by decision, and mir beat nog in the first by tko… so mir is better than your boy fedor. then guess what, mir lost to brock, so brock is better than mir and fedor. which means brock is the greatest if we use this retarted “fedor logic”…game set and match goes to me.
you missed my point, but who cares nog was not 100%. fedor went to the ground with him just for the challenge his corner told him to stay off the ground not like mir who wouldnt dare, you can keep your fedor bashing up, and ill smoke you all day long. yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Hey bigchris. Lindland did not fight Fedor in pride. He fought him in a bodog fight promotion. YOUR lack of mma knowledge insults ME.
johnny…if my lack of mma knowledge insults you maybe you should go to another website. ask the big dogs around here if i am lacking in the mma knowledge department. see what they say.
i said fedor fought lindland, and beat him, and his fanboys are saying he has fought the best. there were at least two better 205ers at the time he fought lindland. wandy, hendo. shogun, and rampage were around as well. fedor instead chose to fight lindland. how is it that he was fighting the best when the best were still out there?
how do you know he chose lindland how do you know what the other guys were doing. maybe they didnt want to move up to hw. lindland was 212 when he fought fedor.
Who is Brock Lesnar? Another one of Dana’s puppets!?
Who has he fought that is better than Fedor has fought. Nobody! Is he seriously considered the best at 5-1! LOL That’s is BS at its finest. Who has he beat? A 45 year old and a weak inconsistent Mir. WACK!
To beat someone like Fedor, Lesnar will need to learn how how to become a multidimensional fighter instead of relying on his size and athleticism.
Like Jordan, Fedor has nothing to prove. He’s already beat the best and won. New fighters always come and go but Fedor has been consistent through his whole career by doing something most can’t… winning.
i really would like to see what fedor is capable of in a situation where he has to fight 3 or 4 times a year at the very least.
fighting in the ufc has proved time and time again a stumbling block for the “special fighters” coming from other organisations. im not saying fedor isnt a special world class fighter, because he clearly is, unfortunatley i dont think we will ever find out how special.
Yes that is true like Cro Cop. He never had a great ground game. Not many fighters care about the $$$ more than actually being the best. Especially in the UFC.
I do think Fedor will fare well in UFC because he is unbelievably conditioned and he is great standing up and the best on the ground. If Fedor is in trouble against an opponent standing up, he can take his opponent to the ground and dominate because he is the best Sambo practitioner in the world.
Standing up against fighters is risky for Fedor but that’s what makes him the best because he loves challenging himself against the best strikers.
its true fedor has not fought too much in the the last 3 years, but in 2000 he fought 5 times 2001 5 times 2002 3 times 2003 5 times 2004 5 times 2005 3 times 2006 twice 2007 twice 08 once 09 once. not to mention sambo. now compare that to randy or chuck liddel and most other fighters. and it seems pretty good.
I cannot legitimately call Fedor the #1 pound-for-pound fighter, as I believe that top 10 list is thrown around way too much. I will say that his wins have been impressive, albeit not at top-level competition. I do not believe that Fedor has faced the best of the best by any means, and I while I absolutely repsect him, I’m just not a huge fan.
Be that clarified, I would like to respond to Buzz. I don’t believe Fedor is scared of anyone, even Brock. However, I do not understand why he wouldn’t sign with the UFC if he wanted to truly be able to call himself the best. There’s only one way to find out, and that’s in the UFC.
Conclusion: I don’t believe Fedor is scared. I believe he is nervous of losing the #1 p4p status from his fans.
Thanks for responding intelligently Josh V.
I, too, don’t think that Fedor is facing the best of the best right now, but only a few years ago he was. If the Barnett fight happened, you could make the arguement that he still is, but it didn’t happen, so we have to live with that.
I also agree that Fedor is scared of no man. However, I really don’t think he cares as much about his legacy, or being considered the best as much as we all care about debating it.
nervous or scared of losing it. he isnt concerned about his mma status. he cares more about sambo. for whatever reason he didnt sign with zuffa so he went to strikeforce. no biggie there. the major issue is finkle is claiming that fedor is fighting the best in the world by fighting in strikeforce. thats what pi$$es me off about him. finkle speaks for fedor. if fedor would come out and clear the air that would be great, but it isnt going to happen.
bigchris2328, you know by now as well as I do that any Fedor thread is going to attract its share of people who worship the ground the man walks on.
Everything they post on the matter must be taken with an enormous grain of salt, even when they go as far as to question your MMA knowledge.
I would suggest when it comes to Fedor, leave the commentaries section to his fanbase, and head on over to the forum where we can discuss it intelligently.
Don’t you remember all the bed-wetting last week directed towards me? And how none of those comments were edited or removed?
That in itself speaks volumes, so as aggravating as it is, just let them have their fun, and don’t engage them.
It just isn’t worth it, bro.
All engaging Fedor’s fans does is create more work for the mods, who feel obligated to come in here and clean up everyone’s mess, so I’m avoiding the Fedor subject in the commentaries section more as a favor to the mods than anything else.
Peace.
jcohl your just mad because when it comes to talking about fedor you lose every debate. so whenever you or someone else makes up lies or bashes him ill be there to bring the facts. the 4 or 5 fedor haters in here always start this stuff.
And thank you flatlandtom for making my point better than I did, and the next “fact” you post regarding Fedor will probably be your first, just as the next “debate” I lose will be the first…
oooooooooh
“I’m avoiding the Fedor subject in the commentaries section” you cant do it. lmao
Yeah, on the forums Fedor haters can all pat themselves on the back alot easier.
They can talk about how he doesn’t fight the best (even though he was scheduled to fight the #2 ranked heavyweight in August, Arlovski when he was rising back up to credibility as was a top 10 and even top 5 HW, and Tim Sylvia when he still had a shed of respect). And of course ignore the fact that he is presently scheduled to fight the highest ranked fighter he can in Strikeforce’s line-up.
And of course they can act like it is Fedor’s job to fight who ever they want him to fight so they can see their dream match up’s regardless of his chosen lifestyle. Oh yeah, they want to tell everyone WHEN he should be fighting as well.
With all my smart-a$$ery aside, I don’t think Fedor is the best MMArtist on the planet, but I KNOW he’s pretty damn good and I KNOW he’s beaten some pretty damn good guys over the last 9-10 years. All the while not sustaining much damage at all. And I’d say that is something worth respecting. But that’s just me.
fedor for prez
I no this forum is so that everyone can sit here and say there view but MAN has this whole fedor thing getting old or what.
so old that i am now rooting to see fedor lose.. he will get caught in the near future..i can sense it
I love it when posters say that they no longer care about a topic and then continue to post to it. That makes me laugh almost as much as when people on both sides of an arguement claim to be the voice of reason while foaming at the mouth. Fedor is one of my favorite fighters but let’s keep it in perspective he’s just a guy doing what he thinks is best for him.
Wonderbread nicely put. I personally don’t like Fedor for differnt reasons. He ktfo’d my boy Arlovski, yes I said it. We will have the last laugh revenge will be ours, but I doudt it.
Seriously, the “Fedor hasn’t fought legit competition” is not only old, but ridiculous. I seriously think it’s a bandwagon thing.
Several individuals have made the points I was going to make coming in here.
“Funny how you leave out prime Nog (twice), prime Cro Cop, prime Coleman (twice), prime Arona, prime Hunt and also that he was supposed to fight the #2 Ranked Heavyweight in the world in August, until that gentleman decided he needed a little something extra.”
Look at a list of Fedor’s competition and you will find plenty of greats AT THEIR PRIMES. Pride’s HW division was STACKED with amazing fighters. I seriously can’t say the same for UFC’s heavyweight division.
People saying that Fedor is dodging or scared of Brock have to be joking. Brock is 4-1…
vs. Min-Soo Kim—> LOL
1-1 Frank Mir —> Is this suppose to be impressive?
vs. Randy Couture–> Plenty of respect to Couture but come now…
vs. Heath Herring—> Fedor beat him when he was better
Now can someone honestly answer this? How is UFC’s HW division impressive at all? And what is it with some people’s obsession with Lesnar? He can definitely get better, but he has a way to go and a lot to prove before you start saying Fedor is scared of him lol.
I’m fine with some people not liking Fedor, but he should at least be respected. Not only that, but claims like he hasn’t fought any legit competition are flat out not true. Even if we talk about recent fights… As someone else mentioned he faced Sylvia, Arlovski, planned to face Josh Barnett (not his fault Barnett tested positive for steroids lol), etc…
