Anderson Silva has relayed in the past that he considers Jon Jones a friend, and the legendary fighter is supporting the light-heavyweight champ, as he deals with the fallout of his recent drug test.
During a recent interview, Silva was asked to weigh-in on the situation, which saw Jones test positive for cocaine metabolites last month. Here is some of what the former middleweight champ had to say:
“All the people have problems. I’m no different. I don’t use drugs…The people talk, ‘oh Jon Jones, blah, blah,’ but no, it is normal. He’s young. Now Jon Jones have a chance to change everything.”
After Jones’ failed drug test was revealed, the fighter entered a drug treatment program, and since then, the star has said he doesn’t have a drug problem. You can watch all of Silva’s comments in the video below.
Jones aside, Silva is preparing to face Nick Diaz on January 31st at UFC 183. The card will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The bout will mark the first time Silva has fought since December, 2013, when he broke his leg while facing middleweight champ Chris Weidman.
