If you told someone a year ago Mirko “Cro Cop” would begin his 2015 campaign in the UFC, your sanity may have been called into question, but according to reports, the feared striker is heading back to the Octagon.
Yes, not long after Bellator boss man Scott Coker relayed that he’s been in talks with “Cro Cop’s” camp, multiple outlets are reporting the UFC has inked the heavyweight to a new deal.
Bloody Elbow.com was the first to report the news, and sources told the outlet that Bellator’s interested in “Cro Cop”, played a decisive role in the UFC’s decision. In other words, the UFC didn’t want to see Bellator land another big name fighter (like Kimbo Slice…).
“Cro Cop” exited the UFC in 2011, after he was stopped by Roy Nelson, which marked the PRIDE vet’s third consecutive loss. The famous fighter put up a record of 4-6 in two previous, UFC stints.
Since then, however, the 40 year-old heavyweight has gone 3-1 in in MMA action and 7-1 in kickboxing bouts. So, clearly the renowned fighter still has some pop.
No word as to when “Cro Cop” will make his Octagon return has been announced.
