After releasing a quick preview last week, FOX Sports has aired its exclusive interview with UFC champ Jon Jones, who tested positive for cocaine metabolites leading up to UFC 182.
In the preview, Jones was shown relaying “I’m not a cocaine addict by any means, or I’m not a frequent user. I just made a really dumb decision and just really got caught with my pants down in this whole situation.”
The light-heavyweight star followed up on that contention, as Jones says he was introduced to cocaine back in college, but that the drug isn’t his “thing at all.” The champion also said that he does not “dab into cocaine”.
Of course, there has been a ton of talk about Jones’ rehab program, after it was revealed that he spent just one night at the facility. UFC President Dana White said that report didn’t relay the entire story, and Jones expanded on this in the interview.
According to Jones, after he was evaluated by doctors over a 24 hour period, they determined that he did not have to say at the facility full time. The 27 year-old says he is still meeting with doctors, however, and that he will still receive periodic drug tests.
Jones concluded the interview by apologizing to his fans, and for letting them down. You can watch the entire interview below.
“Bones” worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Cormier and UFC 182, and is expected to face the winner of this Saturday’s bout between Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson.
That bout will headline UFC on FOX 14, which will take place January 24th in Stockholm, Sweden.
