Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Slated to Make UFC Debut at UFC 105 in England

Antonio Rogerio NogueiraAntonio Rogerio Nogueira, the twin brother of UFC heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira who recently finalized a deal with the UFC, will make his debut for the promotion at UFC 105 on November 14 in Manchester, England, according to Fighters Only.

An opponent has not yet been named for the light heavyweight matchup, with Fighters Only reporting that the UFC hopes to have Nogueira fight for the title as soon as possible, indicating a fight against another 205-pound contender is likely for the card.

Establishing Nogueira as a contender may be moot while Lyoto Machida is the UFC’s light heavyweight champion, as “Litte Nog,” like middleweight champ Anderson Silva, says he wouldn’t fight Machida due to their close friendship.

Nogueira (17-3), who is also known by his nickname “Minotoro”, is currently riding a five-fight win streak that includes victories over Edwin Dewees and Vladimir Matyushenko at Affliction’s two MMA events, as well as his most-recent win in May over Dion Staring.

A headliner has not yet been announced for UFC 105, which is rumored to air on Spike TV and expected to feature Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang and Dan Hardy vs. Dong Hyun Kim.

This is great, a free card with lil’ nog. I think they should give him a warm up fight and then have him start fighting at the mid of the 205 division. Maybe like a Luiz Cane or maybe Forrest…. we all know how much he loves to take top fighters as soon as they step into the ufc

  • DaNNy_BoY says:

I say put him in with Luiz Cane

So glad he finally showed up. Forget a Warm-Up. Throw Thiago Silva up in there. Man they would be PEFRECT for eachother.

I hate to say this, but this long list of fighters who won’t face each other is going to start creating serious matchmaking headaches within the UFC.
No one who’s ever even eaten at a Brazilian restaurant or spent a couple of weeks in Rio wants to face Machida, and the Team Quest and Xtreme Couture guys would rather not square off, and the ATT guys aren’t all that into stepping into the cage with each other, and on and on it goes.
Eventaully someone is going to have to cross the line, or get left out in the cold. This unfortunately is the downside of having training camps with multiple fighters in the same weight class.

Nonetheless, glad to see LittleNog coming to the big show…

correction it’s the downside of having training camps with multiple GREAT fighters in each weight class… ;)

Honestly, it makes guys better to have top competition in camp but it really makes it tough in a technically “individual” sport to see who really is the best when it may actually be a training partner.

Not going to complain though, I mean more talent is more talent and that means better fights regardless of who it’s against.

      • jcohl says:

        Agreed.
It’s like having the problem of winning the lottery, and trying to figure out where to park all your Maseratis and classic cars?
        ;)
Also, it does seem on the surface to be an almost unresolvable issue, in terms of the team dynamic versus the individual sport, but to date most of not all of our sport’s guys have handled it pretty well, and those who haven’t have probably moved onto better situations.

      • dbiz says:

Offer him a shot at the title. If he turns it down, give him someone else. And never, ever give him another shot. When someone else is champ and he wants a title shot, just point out that he turned it down once and you aren’t inclined to make the offer again.

THAT is how you break the “I won’t fight _______ because we’re friends) crowd.

      • chrisl says:

darn you Dbiz… with your making sense…

  • Cant wait to see Lil Nog in the UFC. He has been away from the spotlight for far too long.

  • johnboy says:

lil nog vs the iceman, thats what im sayin

  • JOHNBOY says:

the ice man is not done he just needs to work his way back up the ladder and not fight guys who are in line for titel shots, a rematch wiv jardine or matt hammill or vera, fight a few of those guys get some confidence back then fight the likes of evens rampage machida etc, but if he gets beat by the lesser guys then yeah end it but i dont think we’ve seen the last of chuck yet!

  • JOHNBOY says:

thats a bit dramatic int it
