UFC FN 59: Uriah Hall Says Costas Philippou “Punked Out” of Fight

Uriah Hall took out Ron Stallings at UFC FN 59  on Sunday, but obviously the feared striker hasn’t forgot about the man he was supposed to fight at the event, Costas Philippou.

Originally, Hall was scheduled to fight the middleweight at the January 18th card, but Philippou went down with a rib injury and Louis Taylor was brought in as a replacement. Taylor also got injured just a few days out from the event, and Stallings jumped in on late, late notice.

Well, Hall went on to stop Stallings in the opening round, as the latter took some heavy blows from the TUF 17 Finalist and the fight was stopped due to a nasty cut. After the bout, Hall had this to say about Philippou and who he wants to fight next (quotes via MMA Fighting.com):

“I know Costas punked out,” Hall said. “He dodged a bullet there, that was for you. Let’s make the fight.”

The “punked out” comment might not sit well with Philippou and his supporters, but really, it’s a match-up the UFC should consider re-booking. Philippou is currently ranked #12 at middleweight, so it’s a fight that makes sense for Hall, and it’s also a bout that features two dangerous strikers. Thus, this is why the UFC already had the match-up booked before…

UFC FN 59 was hosted by the TD Garden in Boston.
