If you’re a big Uriah Hall fan and were worried UFC Fight Night 59 might not feature the noted striker after all, you can relax (well, for now at least…). Yes, the UFC has announced that it has booked Octagon newcomer, Ron Stallings to fight Hall this Sunday at the Boston bound card.
Stallings is the third middleweight who has been signed to fight the middleweight. Originally, Costa Philippou was supposed to face Hall on January 18th, but he went down with an injury and then Louis Taylor was booked for the bout. The latter injured his back, however, and the promotion had just a few days to get another replacement.
Stallings (12-6) is a Strikeforce vet who is coming off a decision loss to Tim Williams in November, which went down at a Cage Fury Fighting Championship card. The middleweight had won three straight bouts prior to the defeat.
Hall (9-4) has scored consecutive wins over Chris Leben and Thiago Santos, after he dropped a split decision to John Howard last August.
UFC FN 59 will be hosted by Boston’s TD Garden Arena and will feature rising featherweight Conor McGregor taking on veteran Dennis Siver.
