M-1 “Breakthrough” Results: Lawal Destroys Kerr in 25-Seconds, Fedor Submits Mousasi in Exhibition
Heavyweight prospect Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal kept his undefeated record intact against Mark Kerr in the main event of M-1 Global: Breakthrough on Friday in Kansas City, knocking out the veteran just 25-seconds into their headlining matchup to cap off the HDNet-televised event.
A massive favorite, Lawal improved to 5-0 with the TKO victory and should face a step-up in competition in his next fight, while Kerr falls to 15-11 and has now lost 5-straight and 10 of his last 12.
In a special sparring exhibition featured on the main card, top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko made easy work of Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi, following up a series of seemingly-easy takedowns with a fight-ending armbar.
In other notable action, Karl Amoussou submitted John Doyle in the opening round and said he hopes to next fight in Strikeforce, while Lucio Linhares and Jesse Gibbs also picked up victories.

Yeah that was fun to watch, but it was only an exhibition, and it was clear at times they weren’t all that serious about trying to win. Sure Fedor had some nice throws, and exhibited some nice skills, but it was just that, an exhibition. They are friends, and who’s to say that M-1 didn’t tell Gegard that he was going to lose before they even walked in… really.

yeah i know they were not as serious, and you might be on to something that Mousasi knew he was coming to lose. But i have to say i enjoyed it and what you said about Muhammed Lawal was right on, we’ll see how the guy does when he steps it up in competition. Good show though. Can’t wait to see Fedor-Rogers though because that fight has a lot at stake for both guys.
Hey… Don’t demean the effort required to put on that kind of exhibition. He could have ripped a hem in his skirt or his moobs could have popped out of his shirt. A lot of planning went into that and I for one will sit firmly on my tushy while you crack jokes and point out that no one gave a toss what happened.

THAT COMMENTARY WAS MORE CONTRIVED THAN “AMATEUR” PORN!!! 2) I just put more effort into coming up with those three jokes than Faux-dor and Moussasi put into that exhibition COMBINED. 3) The thing that pushed me over the edge, though, was after Moussasi took Faux-dor down and he got back up, Nitwit announcing “Faux-dor is so quick for a heavyweight.” Child, please.

Compare his last two opponents to Lesnars last two opponents. Lesnar faced argualby two of the top 3 Heavyweights in the world and beat them down decisively, those two being highly regarded Frank Mir and Randy fu*king Couture.

Fedor does not “shootfight” (unless your meaning by that to fight in japan)… watch his fights, he does not shoot. He nearly always goes for a hip throw or trip.
Since I don’t have the time for as much research as some, I have to ask…
How often do these “Exhibitions” occur? They seem to be pretty frequent but, I only hear about them when Fedor is “fighting???”.
Not bashing…asking a legit question.
Outside of the big names they happen fairly often at smaller shows, grappling competitions, or fan expo’s leading up to shows. I believe the UFC did a full display before UFC 100 and of course M-1 likes to show off Fedor whenever they can.
I am actually surprised that the Fedor versus Blagoi Ivanov(2008 SAMBO champion, after beating Fedor in the Semis) rubber match has not happened in a grappling exhibition but that may just happen at the World Combat SAMBO championships(fingers crossed). I think Blagoi is focusing on MMA now and I believe he fights Aleksandr “I swear I’m not a Nazi, they’re just prison tats” Emelianenko pretty soon as a matter of fact. With that height differential and SAMBO skills that will essentially be a combat SAMBO match.

I figured I’d pop in and see whats the what before bombing out for lunch, and was a bit surprised at some of what I’ve seen posted here.
First, let me get this out of the way, in that Portland is awesome.
I’ll be posting more over in the forum area in detail about my 102 experience, but suffice to say that this town is MMA-crazy, dedicated to Couture and the rest of the Team Quest roster, and has been ready for a long time for a UFC event.
If any of you get a chance to shoot up here, it’ll be well worth your time and coin IMO, ESPECIALLY if its for an MMA event.
Now, as to some of the stuff posted specifically towards, or maybe against me, I’ll respond by basically not directly responding like for like. I tried late last night to laugh off southcakalak’s post, and that just resulted in more posts of its nature. Maybe that was my bad, maybe I’d had one too many of the fine local Irish red beers the pubs here rock out, or maybe my brain was half fried from jet lag and a 6 hour flight and the excitement of the day. Nonetheless, I should have not responded to southcakalak’s original anti-jcohl rant/post, but I messed up, and for that I apologize to Kris and the moderators.
I have a world of respect for what Kris has created here, and what Justin and fr702 moderate here, so I’m not about to start firing off posts pointing out the flaws in people’s logic, or the inconsistencies in their POV, or anything like that. MMA FrenZy is a community, and you don’t start a riot in your community over late-hour name-calling and poorly-thought out postings.
The reason MMA Frenzy is the best MMA site out there, aside from Kris and the Mods [cool band name BTW], are the POSTERS.
And by that I mean ALL of us, not just my boys and/or the people who see things my way or guys that are as funny as fu<k like the Brothers Biz.
"All of us" includes southcakalak, bradbuzzski, john, flatlandtom and all the rest, personal attacks notwithstanding.
They contribute as much to the frenZy in their own way as anyone else does, and just because we don't see eye to eye doesn't mean I don't value their company here at the frenZy as much as anyone's elses. The frenzy would be a pretty tame place if we all liked or disliked Fedor, or Gray Maynard, or Anderson Silva, or any other fighter.
The discourse is the heartbeat of this site, and I would never want that heartbeat to develop a murmur because of nonsense posts like some of the above, some of my own included.
Specifically…
@ marvelknight4 – bro, I think its going above and beyond for you to get my back. I appreciate it in the extreme, but before things go too far, sort of like they did during Marvel Comic's Civil War, I'd like to play the Captian America card here and ask everyone to stand down and stand back to avoid any sort of further unpleasantness.
Guys like southcakalak and buzzbradski had their say, and if the mods are fine leaving it up, I'm fine letting it all die down, so that we can all get back to the business of discussing MMA.
@ big worthy – sorry if it seemed like I was rubbing my good fortune in anyone's face. If I had the scratch, I would have loved to score a block of 100 seats for my frenZied crew, or someday a sky suite with out own bartender and wait staff.

Unfortunately for his employers and fans, the Last Emperor might be taking Master Lee's words a bit TOO literally.
The only thing I would add is that when all is said and done, Dana White to date has done far more good than harm to our sport. I've posted on this multiple times. Yes, White is brash, abrasive, unrefined, unpretentious, and rough as fu<k [thats for White] around the bald edges, and many, MANY times has pi$$ed me off to galactic proportions, but his simultaneous goal is to make a fortune for himself and his partners by making MMA the planet's premiere sport, and in the process make the UFC the planet's premiere MMA organization in terms of talent, is a laudable one.
After you wave off all of the bravado, profanity, and swagger, you have a guy 100% committed to making our sport the best it can be, which incidentally has also on occasion been the stated goals of M-1 Global and their main attraction, Fedor.
If we take all parties at their word, then their shouldn't be an issue between them, so someone isn't as on-point as they claim to be.
However your opinion on Zuffa, the UFC, and Dana White specifically is as valid as anyone elses.
@ windmiller – upon initial Googling, I wasn't able to find another example of a "super duper extra-special sparring session" featured on a main card anywhere, but to be brutally honest I've been enjoying the He11 out of my time here in Portland, and at the Avalon Hotel and Spa, but I'll work on it when I get back and post if I find anything.
