The February 22nd, UFC Fight Night card has undergone a big change, as scheduled headliner Glover Teixeira is reportedly injured, and will no longer fight Rashad Evans.
As a result, the promotion has moved a heavyweight scrap between Frank Mir and “Bigfoot” Silva from UFC 184 to UFC FN 61. UFC 184 is set to go down on February 28th in Los Angeles, while UFC FN 61 will take place in Porto Alegre, Brazil one week earlier.
The change and news of Teixeira’s injury is being reported by MMA Fighting.com, which confirmed the switch with UFC President Dana White. The report also says that it’s unclear, as to who and when Evans will fight next.
Teixeira has reportedly ‘tweaked’ a knee injury and will require six weeks to rehab it.
So, that’s unfortunate news, as Teixeira-Evans was an important and compelling fight. Hopefully it gets rebooked for some time in the not so distant future.
Evans hasn’t fought now since November, 2013, when he stopped Chael Sonnen. The former light-heavyweight champ has been sidelined with a knee injury.
