Nik Lentz Replaces Dan Lauzon, Fights Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 103
Nik Lentz will make his Octagon debut in place of an injured Dan Lauzon against fellow UFC newcomer Rafaello Oliveira in a lightweight preliminary matchup at UFC 103 on September 19 in Dallas, Five Knuckles is reporting, citing sources close to Lentz.
Lauzon and Oliveira were picked up by the UFC after Affliction canceled its August 1 “Trilogy” event, where Lauzon was set to fight Chris Horodecki and Oliveira was to meet Takanori Gomi, and shuttered its MMA promotion late last month. The pair were then booked to fight on the UFC 103 undercard, but a back injury forced Lauzon to withdraw from the fight on Monday.
Lentz (16-3-1), who trains at Minnesota Martial Arts Academy alongside the likes of Brock Lesnar and Sean Sherk, brings a six-fight winning streak into the 155-pound contest, including a notable win over UFC veteran Drew Fickett, though the victory has been tarnished by Fickett’s five-fight losing streak.
A training partner of current UFC lightweight champ BJ Penn, Oliveira (8-1) has won three-straight, including a unanimous decision win in his most-recent bout in April, after suffering his only career loss to Lyle Beerbohm at an October ShoXC event.

man did you have a terrible sleep or something? why are you posting at 6 in the morning dude?
Two things that I thought of while reading this article:
1) Where is Horodecki going to be fighting? I don’t exactly remember.
2) Drew Fickett is on a 5 fight lossing streak, that sucks. I know that the guy is a d-bag and has burnt a lot of bridges but I really like seeing him fight. I also love it when they introduce him in the ring/ cage before the fight and he flexs his abs. That’s hilarious. I might do that in my first fight…if I have visable ab muscles by then, otherwise it might loook kinda stupid.
He was scheduled to fight on Affliction, but is not currently signed with anyone. He had a bulging disc in his neck, but appears to have recovered sufficiently to fight. I’d imagine that the UFC would make a play for him, but I could see him end up in Strikeforce.
Thanks for the info bs.
Is it my imagination or is Strikeforce becoming like the Oakland Raider of MMA, wherein they welcome with open arms the outcasts and oddballs who don’t seem to fit in anywhere else?
And I don’t mean that as a slight against Strikeforce, it just seems to me that everytime someone fu<ks up and loses the golden UFC ticket, they wind up fighting in front of fr702…
Ha, I liek the analogy but the difference is that I would actually want to watch Strikeforce, can’t say that about the Raiders.
