WEC 43 Postponed; Rescheduled for October 10 at Location To-Be-Announced

World Extreme Cagefighting announced late Monday that it had postponed its September 2 WEC 43 card in Youngstown, Ohio due to an injury suffered by headliner Ben Henderson, who was set to fight Donald Cerrone for the promotion’s interim lightweight title in the evening’s main event.
The entire card has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 10 at a venue to-be-announced and is still set to air live on Versus.

Darn. I guess it wasn’t too major of an injury.
hate to hear that but at least they are still going to have the fight rather than just throw in a random fighter.
If this were just another regional promotion, instead of under the Zuffa umbrella, somehting like this would be devastating.
Hopefully they get this thing together and off of the ground, because a whole He11 of a lot of people are turning on to the WEC every day…
Odd to postpone the whole card for one fighter, I wonder if there were some other issues as well.
Perhaps the war between Versus and DirecTV, and that DirecTV was going to end their offer of Versus on Sept 1 and the fight was on Sept 2nd, which means alot of missing $ and way fewer viewers for the event.. Or it could be a legit injury but honestly I think it might have something to do with the battle with DirecTV (doesn’t ComCast own Versus or a part there of?)
Comcast does own Versus, they’ve also taken a lot of hits because of what they tried to originally do with the channel though(I.E. the NFL lawsuit). No telling what could be brewing with that.
However, it may be just that it was a bad cut or minor injury that would prevent him from being eligible to fight next week. Since the WEC doesn’t have as many big names yet, it makes sense in some respects to move the card to when their interim championship can actually be determined.
I guess I’m glad I hadn’t sprung for tickets yet.

ya i sprung for tickets but i get my money back so i guess im happy….though i was looking forward to meeting- mir,cerrone, pulver, faber,franklin they were having a pre event autograph signing and shaq was supposed to be there to
