    Stupid question…

is the replay usage only in the state of nevada? or anywhere?

    • jcohl says:

Not necessarily stupid, but bear in mind that the NEVADA state athletic commission’s authority by definition ends at the state line, which isn’t to say that other state SAC’s won’t follow Nevada’s lead on replay usage…

  • bigchris2328 says:

to clarify it will only be used if a fight were to end due to a accidental eyepoke, or a cut i believe. then the replay would be used and the fight would end in a no contest. example of a fight like that was anthony johnson-kevin burns. the first fight was stopped and ruled a tko victory for burns, even though the eye poke led to the stoppage. if im wrong feel free to correct me.

“ON AUGUST 8, 2009 ANDERSON SILVA MADE FORREST GRIFFIN LOOK LIKE AN AMATEUR, AND ON AUGUST 8, 2009 GUNSLINGER MADE BIGCHRIS 2328 LOOK LIKE A CASUAL FAN ”

  • jiujitsuMAN says:

wait cyborg is married? how the hell did that happen?

  • Tspence says:

Im glad the ufc got gilbert yvel

  • bfree says:

Instant Replay huh…So can a ref continue the fight if he already stopped if if one of the fighters was found to be defending himself?

Good to hear kenflo not making excuses. i always thought mma was big in mma but there is still a week left to buy tickets.

    • bfree says:

In oregon, not mma. my bad

    • dbiz says:

      No.

“The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Wednesday approved the use of instant replay in MMA, allowing referees to review stoppages to determine whether an injury is caused by a legal strike or foul and rule accordingly.”

We’ll call it the Rumble Rule. With replay, that could have been a win by DQ (or at worst a NC) over Kevin “Goggles” Burns, since it was clearly a series of eye pokes that stopped their first fight.

  • surfingk5 says:

Miller v Shields…this could, should be bad for Miller.

    Newton v Carter…huh?

  • southcakalak says:

    Yvel vs. Kongo please…the end

  • petterson says:

    sam vs phillip, who’defunkit

  • Wonderbread says:

Bummer that the Portland event has only sold half the seats. It amazes me that nobody is really talking about it. I tend to chalk it up to most fans giving the UFC the benefit of the doubt that they will come through in the end and have a good crowd on fight night. Personally I’m not too interested in the card and will just catch up on it later. So what is it, a bad economy as suggested in the linked article or a bleh card or something else (maybe fan fatigue from back to back antipated cards)?

    • GarRule says:

I’d be excited to see the UFC if it came to New York, but I feel like there isn’t much juice behind the next few events. They just banged out some HUGE cards in a row. Personally, there are some GREAT fights coming up, but I don’t know if they’re “Mainstream” enough the light the world on fire…as far as general pubic interest goes.

  • JAI says:

If Phillipe Nover doesn’t beat Sam Stout, he may be next to get cut from the UFC roster. I really like Nover. I hope he wins and does it in super impressive fashion.

    • Jazzkok says:

Ok, seriously i want EVERYONE to acknowledge that not only are Miller and Shields fighting, but they’re fighting for the title!!! They have been boys for hella long and have trained a lot together!!!! And yet, they are fighting for the interim title!!!! Are you reading this Mike Swick, Jon Fitch and Koscheck????

The replay idea’s a great one and i look forward to seeing how effective it’s going to be.

I think it’s hella kool for bowles to be honored in a baseball game. This seems to be a new trend for the MLB to have MMA fighters throw out the first pitch or be honored in other ways. Very kool dudes!
