Matt Brown vs. James Wilks, DaMarques Johnson vs. Peter Sobotta Added to UFC 105
A pair of welterweight bouts have been added to the lineup for UFC 105 on November 14 in Manchester, England, as UK-native and The Ultimate Fighter 9 winner James Wilks takes on Matt Brown on the Spike-televised main card, while TUF 9 runner-up DaMarques Johnson squares off against Peter Sobotta on the event’s preliminary card.
MMAjunkie and MMA Weekly recently reported the matchups.
Wilks (6-2), a winner of four-straight, submitted Johnson in the opening round at the TUF 9 Finale in June in his most-recent fight, while Brown (9-7) is coming off back-to-back wins over Ryan Thomas and Pete Sell.
Johnson (9-7) had won five-straight before suffering back-to-back losses, including the finale defeat to Wilks, while Sobotta dropped a unanimous decision to Paul Taylor in June at UFC 99 in his UFC debut.

I predict Matt Brown (Cincinnati, where you at?) to win…
By murder.
I hope the UFC has made that a choice for picking victory on their fantasy site, only available when you pick Brown to win. I’ll choose it every time.
Yes, I love watching the “Immortal” fight, he always gives it everything he has. I agree with ya on the outcome, bs. This is going to be awesome.
Also, I personally believe he won the Kim fight.
I am going to lean towards James Wilks
HAHA your nuts! matt brown is a brown belt and can take a beating! matt brown 2nd round 2nd min CHOKE
Like both fighters, gonna be a good scrap.
if there trying to build up another brit this was a bad move because matt brown is gonna destroy james wilks and i agree i believe matt brown beat kim also…brown should be undefeated in the ufc
Matt Brown looked like a killer against Drago……….should be a good fight tho….but i see it going the same way for Brown….
IMO brown’s a tough fight for anyone @ ww. Wilks looked pretty good for a “TUF” guy as well so it should be a good fight.
I like Wilkes here, that guy is a real talent. It won’t be easy because Matt Brown is probably the scrappiest fighter there is in that division. He may lose and get beat up pretty bad but he always gives it all he has.
As a side note, I get the “immortal” part of Brown because it’s like he never dies in there but am I the only one that finds it an ironic nickname for a guy barely over .500 … I like the guy but just saying…
Matt Brown is the kind of fighter that any new guy will have to face to really make it in this division. He is a tough, mean, relentless fighter with good striking and good on the ground.
But he’s not talented enough to ever make a serious run at a belt. He is a perfect introduction to the upper levels of welterweight and I hope he stays in the UFC for a really long time.
Should be a goodin… Matt Brown is always dangerous but Wilks is going to be the technician in this one so it should be interesting though. Don’t know all this crap about Brown beating Kim though, since he was defending himself against kim’s submission attempts the whole time
I DON’T want to go to the judges in the UK.
I got to agree with most of you that Brown should have the edge, but I don’t understand how the majority is overly confident. Have you seen alot of James Wilks besides TUF 9? Doubtful. Ignorance can be bliss.
Brown really impressed me when he beat down Pete Sell, i would like to see him eventually fight Rumble Johnson, that would have been a sick fight.
i was really impressed with matt after his pete sell fight but lets be honset pete sell sucks, he’s a striker who doesnt have a singlle tko in his carrer, anyway wilks was even more imprresive in his last fight, he destroyed demarques in standup and everyone was like woah his standup is good but his ground couldnt be as good, wrong! his ground was EVEN better ,i’m gonna go wilks he’ll definetly win on the ground and i think will edge the standup.
Unfortunately the conspiracy theorists will be out in full force if Brown somehow loses to Wilks in the UK…
This is a really good match up…and pretty even I think as well. I think the difference is going to be Brown’s stand up game and punching power. This could be the fight of the night, but I believe Brown will win by 3 round stoppage.
matt brown wins. hands down. tko victory.
