Wanderlei Silva Reportedly Undergoes Facial Surgery, Won’t Fight Michael Bisping at UFC 105

According to Michael Bisping’s latest blog entry, the British middleweight won’t be fighting Wanderlei Silva in the main event of UFC 105 on November 14 in Manchester, England as previously rumored:
Quick update on the potential Wanderlei Silva fight. Unfortunately thats not gonna happen. He’s undergone facial surgery, so obviously won’t be fighting in the near future. Rumours are he’s actually out for the rest of the year.
So as of right now, Im still unaware of who I’ll be facing at UFC 105. Obviously as stated before, when I know, you know.

I wonder what kind of surgery this was. Maybe removal of scare tissue or sanding down some bones like Diazz did. That sucks though, this was going to be an awesome fight. Oh well, maybe Bisping will get another though test at MW, but who?
I know everyone hates MMABay, but they have a weird pic of Wanderlei’s “new face.” Looks weird.
I was hoping for Wanderlei-Bisping, but i guess that’s not gonna happen. Hopefullly they find a suitable opponent for Bisping soon, but there aren’t too many guys available right now at 185, most of them are already booked. Hope Wanderlei comes back soon.
they weren’t going to fight anyways, Wanderlei already stated he wouldn’t be fighting until most likely Feb of 2010.. MMAbay is just awful and thats that… probably getting rid of scare tissue I would assume…. Michael needs to train and just face whomever Joe Silva puts infron of him…….
Bisping is highly over-rated and just not as good of a mixed martial artist the UFC hopes he would be. He has not beaten an upper-echelon fighter, with losses to Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson in his two opportunities to do so. He can not and should not be seen as a contender until he successfully defeats a top middleweight.
dude come on the Rashad Evans fight was close and bisping is a true middle weight. But he did look like turd against hendo.
what does “true middleweight” even mean? he shouldnt have fought before at lightheavyweight you mean because he belonged in middleweight? if thats it, the past is the past, too bad for him he did fight at LHW for a while, It is true he is not a top contender. sure his wins over Charles McCarthy and Jason Day looked cool but come on, bottom level fighters for real in terms of ufc level fighters, he couldnt put away a drunk of a leben on steroids, and he thinks after losing to henderson hes still top level? Hes going to be a gatekeeper at best imo.
Lucky lucky Bisping, Wandi would have brutalised him. I’d like to see him fight Palhares or someone of that ilk.
This doesn’t break my heart.I like silva and hope all goes well but i think silva/bisbing as a main event is a little lame IMO.

Bisping, as the old timers here know and KRIS, I love Mr. Bisping! However, If he doesn’t branch out on his training as others have done…he’ll be done and never go higher than what he his now. I think once he does that then we’ll have a better idea of his abilities.
I wonder ho relieved bisping was when he found out he didn’t have to face “the axe murderer”. Wanderlei’s face is pretty messed up so i can’t disagree with his desire to have surgery if infact that is the reason.
I thought this would have been a great fight for wanderlei and another trip to lala land for bisping but i guess we arent going to see that.

I’d like to see Bisping fight Nick Diaz. Of course his “therapeutic use” of marijuana looks like it’s landed him in DREAM for his next fight.

It would be fun to see miletich come out to England. It just seems like the UFC doesnt have enough 40 somethings walkin around.
After getting brutally knocked out by Hendo, will probably be a comeback fight against a Gouveia or Rivera. I would like to see Palhares or Okami.

If the UFC gets stuck for a 105 Bisping co-main event, I wonder how long it will be before they ask Rich Franklin to step in and fight him at 195?
