  • dbiz says:

I just hope he doesn’t get KOed by one of the dancers.

    • timcat says:

      hahahahahahaha that is great dbiz.

    • Josh V says:

I wonder if you could fight as long as he has and not get KO’d 5 times in 28 fights.

      • bsbiz says:

I don’t think that was implied in the JOKE. See, JOKES occur around here on a frequent basis and given the fact that nowhere in his statement did dbiz imply that he could, I think the JOKE stands as written.

And by the way, I don’t think you could fight that long and no get KO’d 5 times in 28 fights.

    • chrisl says:

ironically there are a ton of injuries on this show…

      • bsbiz says:

There are, but most of the injuries are to actors who aren’t used to the physical demands on their feet and legs. Athletes tend to not have injuries (although some volleyball player ruptured an Achilles tendon last season) with the same frequency.

      • chrisl says:

Actually, a lot of them do still get hurt they just don’t whine with the same frequency as the movie people haha.

Some 2x Olympic gold medalist beach volleyball player you mean…haha sorry my girl’s main sport is volleyball…

I actually don’t think this a bad thing for chuck, it allows him to get some broader exposure and makes him more of an ambassador. Rather see him twist an ankle here than be crippled from too many blows to the head.

    • goblue says:

haha actually made me laugh out loud

  • EtherBunny says:

Hm, I don’t know exactly how to respond to this…”Good Luck”, I guess.

  • bigchris2328 says:

it takes a very secure man to go and do the type of dancing he is going to do, not to mention do that in front of millions… i echo ether’s sentiments.

[i posted this on the forums, before it was posted on here, sorry guys if it seems redundant over there]

“ON AUGUST 8, 2009 ANDERSON SILVA MADE FORREST GRIFFIN LOOK LIKE AN AMATEUR, AND ON AUGUST 8, 2009 GUNSLINGER MADE BIGCHRIS 2328 LOOK LIKE A CASUAL FAN ”

  • Jazzkok says:

so it isn’t shogun that ended lidell’s mma career, it’s this decision…”Good Luck Chuck”!

  • Fred says:

Who knows? Maybe the high kicks and spins will be the key to winning.

  • carls says:

I dont know if this is a smart decision for chuck. We as harcores will allways pay to watch him fight. But this could affect some of the respect the “casuals” have for him. And possibly have a negative outcome on his drawing power.
Like being on Deadliest warrior is one thing but this just seems beneath him to me. Kinda like a wayto stay in the spotlight.
Maybe Im wrong but this just seems a little off. hmmmm he did allways paint his toenails though.

  • naturaldizaster says:

Doesn’t in any way change my opinion of the man. What he did in the cage was stellar, casual or hardcore fan alike cannot dispute that.

It’s not like he said he would never do something like this. Also after the overwhelming calls for his retirement from MMA that I’ve observed, now that he’s moved in another direction he’s still being criticized. Guess thats the type of judgment you face for being one of the best to ever do it.

    • Jazzkok says:

I think you’re absolutely right natural. For me, wether he was on dancing with the stars or not, my not liking him will not change, nor will my respect for the guy and what he’s accomplished and I think he shouldn’t be judged as a fighter for what he does outside of the cage.

As for him retiring, this is definately a huge step in that direction which imho, is the best direction for him @ this point.

  • Johnny says:

Aren’t you supposed to be able to keep your hands up when you dance?

Does “lumbering/stalking” count as dance experience?

    From Iceman to Boogie Man….

  • surfingk5 says:

    My prediction
Chuck Liddell loses by referee stoppage

  • hayman says:

I think it will help his foot work, imagine chuck learning how to move lighter on his feet!he will 2 step all punches and do the shuffle from the pocket. Much like anderson silva when he is out their dancing around his opponents! Its all in fun!

  • xStevex says:

This sounds lame as hell. I would much rather see Chuck fight again instead of dancing. I probably will not watch him dance at all.

  • Jeff says:

Bringing a new way to “tap out”

  • i don’t think this will hurt Liddell’s popularity with fans, and hardcore fans know that he has nothing left to prove in the octagon so why the hell not be in a show like “Dancing With The Stars”? It’s a perk that he’s earned and could possibly gain him more fans and lure more people into watching MMA.

It’s not a big deal, and i honestly don’t know why any MMA fan would have a problem with this being that Liddell is pretty much done with his MMA career.

  • chrisl says:

found it rather interesting that the CNN version of this article they listed Liddell as an “ex” UFC fighter

    • Jazzkok says:

that is interesting chrisL. If you ask me, maybe chuck should try his hand @ “hollywood”. I personally have never been a lidell fan but this dude has been the biggest mma star ever and I think something like this could help the sport. Millions of people watch that show dude.

  • Whistle says:

I think the UFC jumped on the opportunity to make their fighters more main stream and seem less savage. Could be a smart marketing move. Good luck Chuck!

  • RJA says:

Well..i never thought i would have any interest in seeing that show but i guess i might have to check out a couple episodes.maybe…i don’t know i’m conflicted.

  • ryanmoney says:

This will be cool to see. I do alot of ball room dancing with my girl. At first I thought it was kinda sissy but then I noticed all the hot female dancers!!!! Plus its great for footwork also.

You have Chuck on your version of Dancing with the Stars, we have Joe Calzaghe on ours. Fighters always make good dancers… well most of them.

  • Will says:

I see 2nd minute of the 1st song, his dancer partner with a twirling back kick and knocks Chuck the F out

  • aznstar says:

I personally think its a great thing for the sport. Cause it gives main stream people the ability to see that these guys are mostly well spoken college educated athlete’s. anything to help mainstream america get past the MMA stereotype, that MMA fighters are just a bunch of drunk guys that come into the cage hung over and beat the piss out of each other for 15 minutes once a month. Chuck is the perfect guy to rep the sport, cause he is one of the nicest guys you can meet along with being very humble. Good luck Chuck.

  • Jenkinsss says:

Well…i think its a good decision by Chuck. I think he needs to focus on something other than fighting. After he does Dancing With The Stars, I think he should get back to training and get back to the fighter he once was. Then return for one last fight in the octagon. Get a win, then hang em up for good.

  • jcohl says:

Liddell IMO has earned the right to end his MMA career as he sees fit, not to mention how he spends his quasi-retirement…

  • Jason S says:

I bet Dana loves this. This is going to be huge exposure for the UFC. I hope he does good for himself, and the company. Even though they have far passed the No Holds Bar, this will make the company look like a family thing, hopefully closing them in on a network deal. That way i dont have to pay $60 a month, even though im in afghanistan right now and the are $FREE.99
