Fedor EmelianenkoFedor Emelianenko’s Strikeforce debut will headline an October 10 Strikeforce event at a location to-be-announced, according to MMA Fanhouse.

An opponent has not yet been confirmed for the top-ranked heavyweight, though rumors have been making the rounds in recent days that Emelianenko could fight Ricco Rodriguez in the main event.

Matt Lindland has signed a three-fight deal with Strikeforce and will also make his promotional debut at the Showtime-televised event, with fellow-middleweights Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Jake Shields also expected to be in action on the card.

UFC President Dana White said last week that the UFC is considering adding a second October event to its schedule, joining UFC 104 on October 24 in Los Angeles, potentially setting up a head-to-head showdown between the UFC and Strikeforce on October 10.

i would love nothing more then to see fedor lose to ricco obviously wouldnt happen but wow would that be a great spin to all of this m-1 bull****

  • Gome says:

Wow!! Ricco Rodriguez! It’s funny, I made a post during the whole M1 global co-promotion drama…actually it was sarcastic comment that said who is Fedor going to fight outside the UFC…Ricco Rodriguez? So there you have it folks Fedor will make his debute against an irrelevant fighter!! Well, I guess it could have been worst…Fedor vs. Tank Abott! No offense to the Abott fans across the net. War MMA Frenzy!!!

  • So the power of Fedoria lives on and the Fedorians are thrilled. If Strikeforce goes up against the UFC they’ll get smashed, it doesn’t matter if Fedor is headlining the event because everyone knows he’ll be fighting a nobody, but the fact that he can get beat by the nobody he’s going to fight will problably boos ratings, but the power of the Fedorians still will not be enough to draw more then the UFC’s event if they indeed go head to head.

Side note: I lost a bet to Onlytrue1, so my Avatar will be Vanilla fu*ing Ice until the next UFC event. :D

  • bigchris2328 says:

rematch with lindland will probably happen. or the ricco matchup. then finkle will proclaim that fedor is the best because he has beaten another former UFC HW champ. so how does that make him not the best by beating 3 of them? then fedor fights nick diaz for a catchweight championship. or maybe this will be when fedor has that grappling exhibition with mousasi.

wtf is with the ufc putting on 4 pay per views in less than a month? 104 on 10-24, 105 on 11-14, 106 on 11-21, and now they want one on 10-10?

“ON AUGUST 8, 2009 ANDERSON SILVA MADE FORREST GRIFFIN LOOK LIKE AN AMATEUR, AND ON AUGUST 8, 2009 GUNSLINGER MADE BIGCHRIS 2328 LOOK LIKE A CASUAL FAN :)

  • EtherBunny says:

“I am looking forward to going back to work and fighting at the highest level. Strikeforce is a top fight promotion that houses some of the greatest fighters in the world. I am prepared to fight any of them.” – Fedor

    You go girl.

  • I wonder who would headline this “new” UFC event in October, mostly all the top talent is already booked.

  • Oldman420 says:

I hope Ricco did lots of training well he was on celebrity rehab with dr. drew. Seriously strikefarce, remove head from sphynctor then match make. If they were smart they would do, rogers, then overeem for the title, then bring in lashly for the coup de gras.

    • fr702 says:

strikefarce? really, anyways I believe that is just a rumor, and ofcourse M~1 probably is having the choice of accepting or denying any fight offered by Coker and co. but if this crazy idea for a fight happens M~1 gets to claim yet again that Fedor has destroyed another former UFC champion…

  • lazyeye says:

I thought the Ufc wasn’t worried about Strikeforce. I certainly understand the idea of trying to beat your competition but nobody wants to see a corporate fight in their behalf do they? How about Shane Carwin for Brock, They seem to match up on paper pretty good? As for Fedor maybe they’re picking the opponents by using the short straw method but who cares it’s free.

  • flatlandtom says:

shame on fedor for fighting a guy whos 36-11 instead of a guy whos 4-1. god what a chicken.

    • EtherBunny says:

There’s more to a fighter than just a record, you know? I’m not a fan of Brock by any means whatsoever but look at who he has beaten: Randy, Mir and Herring. Now who has Ricco beaten lately? No one that carries any weight with their name. Also consider the fact that Ricco has been battling weight issues and trying to overcome some serious addictions that has put his body through h3ll. Consider those things and rethink your post.

  • M-1 just wants Fedotia to live on forever and ever!!

If Ricco were to somehow beat Fedor…man!! it would be awesome and would bring the apocaplyopse to Planet Fedoria, or do you think that Fedoria will end the way the dinosaurs died? :)

  • naturaldizaster says:

I’m confused. Is M-1 the joke here and Fedor the punchline? Or vice versa?

On a side note it’s not Strikeforces fault they don’t have legit competition for Fedor, EVERYONE knew this going in.

    • jcohl says:

But it IS Strikeforce’s fault for getting into bed with M-1 Global and Fedor in the first place.
Scott Coker is no man’s fool, but he sure as sh!t isn’t making himself or Strikeforce look good by having names like Ricco Rodriguez, last seen on VH-1’s Dr Drew’s Celebrity Rehab, mentioned as possible Fedor fodder.

I think the idea of Strikeforce forming alliances with DREAM and other legit MMA organizations only makes good sense in light of the fact that currently the UFC owns MMA the way Godzilla owns Tokyo, but M-1 Global?
      Really?

Maybe Coker should concentrate on reaching out to orgs like Bellator if he seriously wants to build an “allied” MMA promotion, instead of di<king around co-promoting with M-1 Global what would amount to a glorified bum fight between Fauxdor and Ricco Rodriguez…

  • carls says:

Im interested in what card the UFC will try and throw together in the next 2 months. Like obvioiusly there wont be to much star power on it. Im thinking it will be a free one on spike or something, maybe a fight for the troops sort of event.

Oh ya and if rodriguez is the “highest level” then its obvious why M-1 thinks Fedor is the rebearth of christ cause hes been fight the P4P best in sylvia, choi and Hunt.

  • mikewh says:

I wonder if Ricco has even beaten ihs own addictions ley alone Fedor.
If i were Ricco i would be excited to be getting a payday, quite the sham.

  • mikewh says:

I’m starting to think Fedor believes MMA fans love to pay their money just to see him fight, regardless of who the opponent is.
He has that polite calm exterior but somewhere in him is the vanity of padding his record, i cant see any other reason for him fighting very unsubstantial opponents.

  • ZP580 says:

The UFC will for sure make this a free event on Spike. No Doubt!!

  • Jenkinsss says:

Ricco vs Fedor?? But…why? Fedor would most likely wreck Ricco. Then again, Strikeforce probably wants Fedor to look like a god in his first fight for them.
As for the head to head thing….any UFC event would beat a strikeforce event, on any given day IMO. I know i would rather watch Wandy-Bisping, Tito-Coleman(not likely to happen as early as October), etc.
But even with all that being said, I am looking forward to Fedor getting his first win in Strikeforce.

  • none says:

Ufc could counter by having an axe murderer trying to kill a spider….

  • none says:

Oh man as a huge Fedor fan this is just getting stupid redickulous.

If they don’t have him fight Rogers, even I’m gonna start to question Fedor!

  • RJA says:

wow!!rico huh?If you were to give brock, couture, cain and a few others fedor’s last ten fights they would be recognized as MMA gods as well. And it’s not getting any harder.

  • Andrew Torriente says:

Do you people really believe this is gonna happen? Come on, it is not!

Some asshole leaks it now everyone wants to crucify Fedor for, when he probably has the least to do with it of all.

He will not fight this fight, I will all but guarantee it. This rumor is about as plausible as the one saying he was finalizing his contract with the UFC.

  • cesar rivas says:

I really hope they put him up against Brett Rogers.I just don’t wanna see Ricco end up in a wheelchair or crutches, lol
