Strikeforce Welterweight Nick Diaz Signs Boxing Deal
Strikeforce welterweight Nick Diaz, whose recent refusal to take a mandatory drug test forced him out of a welterweight title bout at Saturday’s “Carano vs. Cyborg” card, has signed a boxing deal with veteran promoter Don “War-a-Week” Chargin.
“After having seen the replays of Diaz’s fights over the course of his career, I truly believe that this kid has what it takes to really make for some very entertaining fights within boxing,” said Chargin in a release announcing the signing. “While some would state that he’s merely a slugger possessing a good chin and a heavy work-rate, there’s something about his rhythm and fighting intelligence that really caught my eye.”
Diaz’s next fight, either his boxing debut or MMA return, has not yet been announced.

He still has to pass the drug test whether he fights MMA or boxing.
Um…what? I really don’t think that he will be very successful in boxing with his “pawing” technique.
This is a real shame, he had sick BJJ.
Well that came out of nowhere. Oh well. He should stick to mma. I mean…he had a shot to fight for the strikeforce WW title.
Perhaps it’s the money…
Nick really does have horrible boxing form. his BJJ is way better than his standup. Get it together NICK!
NA-NA NA NA…NA-NA NA NA…HEY HEY HEY….GOODBYE
And thuth the lithp from Thtockton goeth the way of the dodo.
And yeth, I wish I could have thought of a couple animalth that have theveral ethth in them.
The promoter is using Nick as bait, he will put him in there against a good fighter, watch him get destroyed and then will claim boxing is greater than MMA
I think that’s possible.
Wouldn’t be his debut. He has one pro boxing match under his belt.
And this is why the UFC writes their contracts the way they do. Imagine Shogun signing to box before his title fight with Machida.
This is unreal. I actually thought Nick had a chance to work his way back to the UFC. This should give his BJJ school the boost he was looking for!!! Good God.
After he skipped a piss test and by extension a title fight, he really had no chance of coming back to the UFC. He and Barnett can go be roommates in Japan.
Good riddance to him. He’s an embarrassment to our sport.
Diaz’s boxing has shown to be better than a handful of people that really weren’t great strikers anyways, but when he fought KJ Noons (boxer, turned MMA fighter, turned boxer, turned MMA fighter) he got picked apart.
I have fought guys with his style, that lanky, reach-out-my-hands-and-try-to-grab-your-fist type thing; they always ended up eating a kick to the mid-section. They put their hands back down pretty quickly and I cannot understand why other guys don’t do it more often. It’s kinda like the Muy Thai plum. It’s so easy to defend against; no one should be caught off guard by it.
I guess the pot has gone to his head.
