Vladimir Matyushenko Returns to UFC Against Igor Pokrajac on UFC 103 Prelims
Vladimir Matyushenko will return to the UFC on September 19 to take on Igor Pokrajac on the UFC 103 preliminary card in Dallas, Texas.
The UFC recently added the fight to the event’s 13-bout official fight card, which is headlined by Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort and also features Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Junior dos Santos and Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann.
Matyushenko (23-4), who fought Tito Ortiz for the light heavyweight title at UFC 33 and last-fought for the promotion in a loss to Andrei Arlovski in 2003, has gone 9-1 since leaving the Octagon, with his lone loss over the span coming against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at a January Affliction event. “The Janitor,” a former IFL light heavyweight champ, was last in action in May, defeating fellow UFC veteran Jason Lambert by unanimous decision.
Pokrajac (21-5), a teammate of UFC heavyweight Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, is currently riding an eight-fight win streak that includes first-round stoppages in his four most-recent victories. He was last in action in April, defeating Kalvis Gebauers via first-round TKO at a World Free Fight Challenge event in Slovenia.

This should be a good fight, two vets with a lot of fights under their belt, one getting a second shot at the UFC. Should be a treat for the fans in attendance, maybe it will make the PPV somehow.
What weight will they be fighting at?
Good question, my guess is 205.
Pulling for the Janitor forsure, good to see him fighting in the UFC again
should be 205…he could do some damage at lhw but i dont see him being muc more than a gatekeeper in the end
Great to see that he is getting another shot in the UFC. Speaking of Mirko’s teammates, what ever happened to Goran Reljic? His kicks looked equally as dangerous as Mirko’s in his fight against Gouveia.
He had severe knee injury I believe. Should be back soon.
Was it knee or back? I thought it was back.
It was a back injury.
Always been a fan of The Janitor. Lookin forward to this fight. Im picking Vlad to come out with the victory.
