Jake Ellenberger Will Fight Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 19

Jake EllenbergerUFC newcomer Jake Ellenberger will replace an injured Chris Lytle and take on Carlos Condit in his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 19 on September 16 in Oklahoma City.

MMAjunkie reported the welterweight matchup on Wednesday after Lytle was forced off the card earlier in the day due to a serious knee injury that is expected to sideline him until next year.

An IFL and Bodog Fight veteran, Ellenberger (21-4) is currently riding a four-fight win streak that includes a 42-second knockout of Marcelo Alfaya in his most-recent fight at a June Bellator event.

Condit (23-5), the former WEC welterweight champ, had won eight-straight before suffering a split decision loss to Martin Kampmann in April in his UFC debut.

UFC Fight Night 19 is co-headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Melvin Guillard and Gray Maynard vs. Roger Huerta and airs like on Spike TV.

WHO IS THIS GUY? I NEVER HAVE EVEN HEARD OF HIM… ANYBODY?

    • bharris4 says:

no idea man, im guessin there throwin em to Condit to get a easy win under his belt in the UFC

    • YZFOXRACING,

YEAH I DON’T KNOW WHO THIS DUDE IS EITHER. CONDIT SHOULD FIGHT FITCH, THAT WOULD BE A GOOD FIGHT, OR MAYBE HAVE LARSON FIGHT CONDIT AGAIN, THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE A REMATCH FOR THE WEC TITLE ANYWAY SO WHY NOT RIGHT? CONDIT IS A GOOD FIGHTER AND HE SHOULD BE FIGHTING A MORE KNOWN OPPONENT RATHER THAN A NEW GUY, HE COULD END UP LIKE KOSCHECK LOSING TO AN UNKNOWN GUY MAKING HIS DEBUT.

        marvel,
Maybe you should let YZF be the only guy that types in all caps… apparently that’s “his thing”. It annoys the crap out of me too, but he was here before I was and well… I guess for some reason it’s accepted that he does it, and I was even informed that it doesn’t seem right for him not to. You on the other hand have no excuse, and I suspect you’re just trying to harass him and well, it’s not going to do us any good for you to do that.

      • justin,

dude i hear you, i honestly don’t want to harass YZF in any way, those were not my intentions, it was a way to jsut be friendly but i guess it didn’t come off like that so i will stop.

      • micjasbro says:

thats what i meant when i said it only works when he does it. It’s his thing.

    • YZFOXRACING says:

LOL THANKS JUSTIN… YOU KNOW ME… IVE BEEN AWAY AWHILE

    • Han! says:

I’ve heard of Jake. He’s a great fighter. In my opinion Condit should be a little worried. Jake will show what he has to offer.

  • Maybe Condit should fight Thiago Alves

  • naturaldizaster says:

To be honest, never heard of him either but after a Wiki scan he proves to have an extensive MMA background in terms of IFL, Bodog and well, M1. Eclectic mix of other has been MMA promotions in there but his record is nice. Will have to search for some vids of his fights and suggest others to do the same just to find out exactly who this guy really is and what kinda comp Condit is up against. Will upate accordingly to what I observe.

  • Justin says:

Ellenberger seems like decent competition, but I suspect that Condit will take him with a submission at some point in their match up.

  • EtherBunny says:

I find it incredibly hard to watch a Condit fight after my friend pointed out his eraser-esque nips. It freaks me out.

Moving on, I haven’t really heard of this other guy but apparently he has some power behind his punches and has only been submitted once while the other three losses come via decision. I would agree with Justin in the fact that Condit will catch him in a submission at one point in their match.

  • micjasbro says:

I remember seeing his match against Ricky Story on HDNet. I believe it was SportFight. He was pissed after having lost by decision after being held down the whole time. Ellenberger was runnin his mouth and Story was shunnin him away like whatever, and then he pointed to his hand that the ref had just raised like “Oh, look! Look at that. Who’s hand is raised?” I thought that was f’n hilarious, Ellinberger didn’t, they had to hold him back.

  • Big Reg says:

Fellows I dont know you guys but I respect your opinion. Having said that, Ive seen Jake fight many times and I can tell you this, not only will he win,he Will Knock him out and I mean clean out. The problem with alot of these so called studs is just that! Now a days the man that wants it the most usually will win regardless if he is better or not. I know that carlos dosnt want this as much as jake because he cant. Too confident in this game means your sleeping and when yu wake up its usually the Ref or your corner man assisting

  • T Double D says:

Ellenberger is a legit welterweight. I think all the condit fans need to slow down with the condit is being handed an easy win. If and when Ellenberger knocksout condit. All of the talk wont be about how condit was being handed an easy W by the UFC. Ellenberger will come prepared. Stay tuned fighting fans.
