  • Anderson Silva is scared of Henderson because he knows that Hendo will beat his a$$ on the ground that’s why he’s “not interested”, he knows he won’t beat Hendo this time. I hope that Maia beats Marquardt so he can fight for the title next and show everyone that all you have to do is take Silva to the ground and arm-bar his a$$.

    • chrisl says:

Good luck getting him in position for that armbar, unless Maia perfects the flying armbar it will be difficult to get him there.

      • chrisl,

dude i agree that Silva is not easy to submit, but he’s not hard to take down, don’t forget that Travis fu*king Lutter MOUNTED Silva in their fight and Leites and Hendo(1st round) were able to take him down easy, if Lutter was able to mount SIlva easy and take him down easy because the truth is the guy doesn’t have good takedown defense at all, imagine what someone like Demian Maia who has submitted most of his opponents, imagine what he would do if he were to get Silva on the ground, i’m gessing he’s make him tap.

      • chrisl says:

Correct me if I am wrong but Leites had 9 submissions in 14 win.

Maia has zero KO’s whatsoever, he’s shown he has take down and submission ability but what else? You have to get to the fighter before you take him down.

Henderson is an Olympic Wrestler I’d be shocked if Anderson wasn’t taken down.

Also can you really say that he took Lutter(who missed weight) seriously at all until that point? Also both Lutter and Leites are both very accomplished black belts in BJJ and did not submit Anderson when they took him down. Basically takedowns mean nothing if you do not do anything with them. Anderson still fights off his back, he’s not a turtle down there.

So basically what I am saying is that believing that just throwing Anderson in an armbar is the way to win is a little ridiculous because if you throw anyone in a deep armbar you will win most of the time. You still have to get your hips, hands, and knees aligned to throw it not to mention you have to survive the strikes while doing it.

He still has to defeat Marquardt, who has only lost by submission twice in 38 fights. Maia’s submission skills are incredible no doubt but if he has no striking it will not be a good day. Once he gets Anderson on the ground he is still dealing with a legit BJJ black belt (note his only two submission losses were before he earned his black belt) under the Nogs. I’m not saying it can’t happen but I am saying it is unlikely he can win off only his submission skills.

    • Amped says:

I seriously doubt Silva is “scared” of anyone. What has Hendo done to earn another shot? Knock out a scared to death Bisping with a punch telegraphed from a mile away? We all know by now Bisping was never a contender. Silva is just more interested in fighting a #1 contender, and not someone he’s already beaten.

      • muaythai4life says:

I agree. I doubt that Silva is afraid of Hendo but rather wants to see if Damian beats Nate “the great” because that would be a new contender for him. I also believe Hendo would be crushed in the rematch. Henderson relies too heavily on a powerful right hand to the point of nearly only throwing that. The guy that is going to beat A. Silva (If there is such a beast) is someone who is just as fast/ or faster and has a great double leg take down. That is not Henderson.

And Travis Lutter did take down anderson silva, when he shot for a double leg and A. Silva threw a flying knee which caused him to fall on top of Lutter and allowed Lutter to simply roll into Silva’s guard. It wasn’t technique that brought Anderson down.

    • OnlyTrue1 says:

MK4 you gotta be kidding me!!!!
Why would Silva be afraid of a guy he finished not lost to but finished in the 2nd round??????????????????????? Silva defended his belt and took Dannys little ex-pride mw belt!!!

Silva wants to be challenged not fight constant rematches against guys he has beaten and finished. I believe he thinks Maia is going to beat Nate so he wonts that fight first. More of a Threat!

Dude I want that Avator !!!

      • Justin says:

        Do you mean “avatar”? ;)

      • OnlyTrue1 says:

        Yeah avatar, thx J-dawg!!

You know MK4 and Jazzok bet me thier avatars and now it’s time to pay up baby.

      • Jazzkok says:

        What up onlytrue1!

yeah dude i lost the bet and the bet was avatars, so i’m here dude tell me what my avatar is going to be till jardine gets mounted and put to sleep by thiago silva :)

      • Onlytrue1, dude wat up,

i honestly forgot about the bet so remind, me. Honest dude i forgot, so what was the bet, i’m not backing from the bet, since it’s been a while i forgot dude so remind me.

Silva is not that good and if he fights Hendo again 2 things are going to happen, either he ko’s Hendo, or Hendo t(ko) him on the ground.

    • Jenkinsss says:

“Anderson Silva is scared of Henderson because he knows that Hendo will beat his a$$ on the ground that’s why he’s “not interested”"

Uhh yeah dude that makes perfect sense….in whatever dream land your living in. Do you not remember what happened in their first matchup? Silva got taken down, got hit a little bit, the round ended. Next round, he rocks Hendo, gets him to the ground, then what happened mk4? HE GOT CHOKED OUT. Id be more worried about Hendo getting submitted again dude. I am a HUGE hendo fan, but honestly, i think the only way he can win, is if he lands a huge right hook from hell.

      • OnlyTrue1 says:

        YES YES YES HAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!
While I take extreme delight in this,,,, I shall be cival!! If you fella’s were here I’d take you out on the town buy a few rounds for ya so that the SOUTHERN FRIED CROW would go down easssssyyyyy shawty!!! LOL LOL!! 1st rd Forrest Griffin will beat Anderson Silva hahahahhahaha,, Man My Eyes wont stop crying and I cant stop laughing..

NOT at my boy Forrest losing but at the fact you guys actually bet he would win 1st rd hahahah I’m sorry I didn’t mean to clown you guys but its so funny, especially with MK4 just keep saying Anderson is not that good, what are you blind or just hateful.. I dont want to call you out homie but dude he has not lost a fight in 3 years and he finished every guy except 1 The guy clearly is that good, and why would he be afraid of Henderson whom he FINISHED in a fight????? When was the last time you were afraid of a guy whose a$$ you kicked!!?????????

OKAY I here by give you Jazzok Screech from save by the bell as an avatar!!!!
AND MK4 I give you Vanilla Ice as an Avator!! Ice Ice baby!! hahhahahha
I love it I love it!!
MK4 the bet was you would lose your avatar and replace it with whomever I choose until the next ufc bet with Jardine and Silva.
        Have fun boys!!
OHHH yeah I am a member now Fella’s hit me up so we can realllly have a blast homie’s!!

        Fr702 you my dooooooggggg!!!!

  • naturaldizaster says:

So Silva not giving up his belt after all. All those MW’s hoping for an easy ride to the belt back to square one “How the hell do we beat this alien!?”

Looks like Coker did p!ss Dana off and cross the line of chum level friendly competition. If I’m a casual fan and I missed the epic 100 or was distracted at a bar etc, I’m watching the re-run on spike. Too bad I’ve already watched it and re-watched it more than once so I’ll be tuning in to Strikefarce to see the chicks fight and see if Babalu can beat Mousasi– or vice versa.

  • chrisl says:

Before people start complaining about “Anderson” not wanting to fight Hendo it was his manager that said that.

Daniel Cormier in MMA… remember that name people… he’s a lil crazy, strong as he1l, and can straight up launch people. He learns some striking and he will be a force. I swear though it won’t be long before they can form an Oklahoma State MMA team. Rosholt, Hendricks, Cormier, Couture, Shane Roller, Mark Munoz… maybe Mocco will come over when he’s done with the Olympics(his Judo is phenomenal).

That Youngstown event looks like it will be a fun all-around event to be at.

Interesting to see Lindland is going to fight again. Can’t say I expected it, figured he’d be more focused on politics.

  • Markus J says:

So Anderson Silva won’t fight Machida, won’t fight Henderson… anyone else seeing a trend here? I wish he’d shut the F up and fight who the UFC tell him to fight.

I agree that a wrestler with a strong ground game is the perfect match to win against Silva. But knowing the UFC they will keep hand feeding him stand up guys who he can knock out to further hype him as the best pound for pound fighter in the world. I really hope Dan gets his rematch next.

I wish A. Silva would be more like his countryman, Lyoto Machida. Now there is a fighting champion who will take on anyone at anytime. All the respect in the world to Machida, in my opinion he is the best P4P guy in the world, along side GSP. Silva needs to change his attitude and soon.

    • yorkyid says:

I am a HUGE Machida fan, but we can not call him the best P4P guy in the world until he truly clears out the LHW division. Though I do fully expect him to do this :D

    • Amped says:

      He’s already fought Hendo….

    • Gunslinger says:

silva can fight who he wants did you just see what happens to guys when the ufc hand picks them forsilva to fight really come on, hes beaten henderson and he’ll do it again!….you guys are thinking hendo deserves a second shot why??? because he beat bisping????sorry bisping = anderson?? see the problem yet guys because i do and machida is his friend and machida will not fight anderson either it goes both wyas there best friends jeeze!….its not that hard to understand

    • Jenkinsss says:

      Markus J,

Are you kidding me? Silva HAS fought almost everyone the UFC throws at him, and look what happened to all of those opponents. They lost. And incase you havent noticed, Machida and Silva wont fight eachother because theyre training partners at Blackhouse. If your going to judge Silva for not fighting Machida, maybe you should go criticize Fitch, Koscheck, and Swick.
I think Silva is more interested in a fight with Maia/Marquardt because they have both fought so many opponents lately, and they dominated them all. Plus, Maia hasnt had a shot at the title yet, and im sure Silva would be very interested in fighting him. Especially seeing how lots of people think Maia would submit Silva and take the MW belt

  • yorkyid says:

I think the Anderson thing comes down to him having only 3 fights left, so he wants them to be pretty big.
One against the true MW Number 1 contener (that is the winner of Maia-Marquardt)
One against another LHW, though who that will be I don’t know.
And finally one as a Super Fight….

    Anyone think im close? ;)

    • Jazzkok says:

      yorkyid,

Yeah dude that’s a very interesting and valid point. Maybe “the spider” plans on retiring after his contract is up, or, just maybe…he wants to go out and top and if he rematches hendo he’s scared the fight will go like round 1 of their first fight except hendo will keep him there the whole fight or finish him…?

I don’t think marquardt is more of a #1 contender than hendo at all. Maia on the other hand should be fighting anderson and not marquardt but that’s just how it played out.

Damn dude, the 120 division has the potential to be hella bad ass f***!

I like that lashley is fighting as much as he can to improve his game and gain more experience. He’s not too old to eventually become really good and have a chance at facing elite hw competition.

  • Kris says:

I don’t blame Anderson Silva for not wanting a rematch with Dan Henderson. As far as he is concerned, that is pretty much conquered ground. If Nate Marquard was to defeat Demian Maia at UFC 102, Silva might feel the same about a potential rematch with him. It seems to me that Anderson Silva has gotten to the point of what matters to him is looking for challenges to test himself and his amazing skill set (thus his move up to the 205lb division) and appears less concerned about simply racking up victories against inferior opponents.

Thales Leites potentially getting released by the UFC is not surprising. How he and Patrick Cote were given middleweight title shots is beyond me! You really wonder how that happened, especially considering fighters such as Yushin Okami and Demian Maia have not yet.

    • dbiz says:

Cote took every shot Silva threw at him with a smile. He was never even knocked down – not even by the knee that ended Franklin twice. I want to see that rematch because I want to see his chin get tested some more.

Maia…not gonna be much of a fight if he can’t get close to Silva. No one but Hendo really has, so…boring.

Okami? Meh. What qualifies him for a title shot? Wins over Kalib Starnes, Rory Singer, Swick, Lister and Tanner? His one REAL chance at a title shot, he dropped against Franklin. Where are his wins over the likes of Hendo, Marquardt or Maia? By the logic usually applied here, he’s at least 2 or 3 fights from his shot.

      • muaythai4life says:

He also beat Swick, who was riding a big time middle weight win streak. (Okami beat Swick I mean.)

  • naturaldizaster says:

Look, I was far from a fan of Silvas before he pulverized my fav fighter…but to compare him to the likes of a certain top p4p Russian prospect in terms of actually ducking top tier opponents is borderline ludicrous. If he fights Henderson again that will be the SECOND time he’s rematched when there are a myriad of great competition he hasn’t beat in Rampage, Shogun, Belfort, Maia, Tito, Rashad…see the couple of ground experts in there if that happens to be the key to taking him down. If Dana suggests a fight with any of those guys I’ll bet the farm that Silva doesn’t balk. C’mon now man let’s keep this serious…

  • bigchris2328 says:

@kris, okami was slated to go two title shots at silva, however he was injured thus letting other guys get the shot. i believe one was cote.

leites backed into a title shot with that bs win over marquardt due to the questionable knee. im not sure if anderson has said what is being said he said. unless someone on this site speaks brazilian and can translate what he said in interviews we dont know. his translator may say something he didnt or the same with his manager. maybe his manager gets a cut of anderson’s profits. that couldve lead to the rumor of him wanting to stay at 205 and vacate the title.

regardless of how many fights is left on his contract, the ufc has a title holder thing where the champion is still slated to fight and defend his title if his contract is up. thats partly the reason randy walked away, he thought he could void the contract but when the ufc sued him, he came back. with randy it was more of a money dispute, but he didnt want to relinquish the title, but he wanted to stay champ and be out of the ufc.

hendo has only lost to anderson at 185, so saying what has he done for a rematch is garbage guys. he wasnt the one that said if he beats bisping he gets a title shot, joe silva told bisping/hendo, winner gets the next shot at 185 title.

regardless of what anderson says, he will fight who the ufc says to fight, or dana will tell the public he is ducking whoever. even though that may not fully be the case. best case is for anderson to vacate the mw title and finish his contract up so he can fulfill his “dream” of fighting/boxing roy jones jr.

the only person i see beating anderson at 185 is maia, and thats if maia can avoid those precision strikes and take anderson down.

i called the leites cut when he lost, and it looks like im right. sucks for villefort to be cut, his loss wasnt entirely his fault. wasnt that fight stopped due to a cut saturday?

looks like the ufc has declared war on strikeforce. ill dvr hendo’s ko of the brit, but im watching strikeforce saturday.

    • bsbiz says:

If he doesn’t have a contract with the UFC, he won’t enter the Octagon regardless if he was the title holder when his contract expired. His situation is completely different from Randy’s because Randy wanted to run off to Japan and fight Fedor, but a court determined that the contract he’d signed meant that had to fulfill the number of fights as opposed to being over a certain period of time.

Silva has stated that he was going to retire at the end of this current contract (he has something like three fights left).

What will happen if he does in fact retire is that the belt will be vacated and whoever the top contenders are will fight for the title.

    • Justin says:

Anderson’s translator is his manager, Ed Soares, and yes his manager gets a cut of his profits, usually a percentage of his earnings is how that works. Besides, it is the managers job to make more money for the fighter, long term, period.

    • Justin says:

Also Villefort’s fight was stopped due to a cut when he yelled out “I can’t see!!” if I understand correctly. Oh, and please don’t tell me you think that a loss shouldn’t count because you got cut.

  • Fred says:

Hallman is coming back. Now that he’s at WW, do you think he’d fight Hughes at a catch weight?

  • ed says:

I think if Silva does not fight Hendo that is BS. This has be talked about by the UFC long before the Griffin fight. I would think if he was apposed to that he would have spoke up sooner and I would think Dana would make sure a match up like that was possible before spouting about it. We can be pretty damn sure if “The Count” dispatched hendo he would be fighting Silva, why should Hendo get ripped off?

  • fr702 says:

Ed Soares stated the same thing to Eric and I in the elevator after the weigh ins last Friday,,,,, These are his thoughts not Anderson’s fyi

  • big_evil says:

Hendo will make it more competitive this time. I wont say for sure he’ll win but he’ll make it hard for Anderson this time out. I’m hoping Hendo would knock the snot out of Silva and say- this is for “being not interested in fighting me”

    • White_Boy says:

He has fought some undeserving competition in his last couple MW bouts. There’s not much else to do at 185 right now. Henderson should get one more 185 win before another title shot. Maia hasn’t beat any superstars, yet. After he fights Marquadt, then let’s see. Until then, no one deserves a shot. Oh, and do you really think Hendo is going to have a chance at landing his haymaker on Silva’s chin. Not really. the only chance he would have to win woudl be wrestle him to the ground and control the fight, and thus control the damage he takes.

      • Jazzkok says:

        Yo WhiteBoy,

Dude alright, maia hasn’t finished any “SuperStars”, but the guy is undereated AND has finished ALL of his opponents. Name anyone beside hendo more deserving of a shot @ the title.

As for hendo, everyone makes mistakes and learns from them. Henderson controlled the first round the way EVERYONE expected him to. Take him down and pound the Shiit out of him. The mistake he made in the second was NOT sticking to his game plan (which we saw him execute in round 1) and standing and trading with silva. Long story short, hendo got caught by silva (like everyone does) and then choked out. My point here is that henderson knows he can’t hang with silva’s striking and that he saw the success he had in the first rounnd and in this potential rematch, he’s going to stick to his game plan but this time he’s not going to make the mistake of trying to keep the fight standing.

I understand silva already beat henderson, but i honestly feel that although he’s already finished and beat him, that silva AND his manager feel this is a dangerous fight for him to take, therefor using the easiest way out of a rematch by saying “i’m not interested in this rematch because i’ve already beat him”…sounds convincing enough but since i’m an analytical freak, i’m going to stick to my take on it.

  • bighitter05 says:

Why doesn’t Yushin Okami ever get a title shot? Maybe because Dana doesn’t like Japanese fighters? I mean okay, he lost against Franklin for the #1 contender 3 fights ago, but he’s on a 3 fight win streak, and he’s definitely top 5 Middleweight Fighter’s in the UFC.
