Kenny Florian, Forrest Griffin, and Tamdan McCrory were among the six UFC 101 fighters who were issued medical suspensions by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission following Saturday’s event, which took place at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.
MMAjunkie received the list of medical suspensions and injuries from the PSAC on Tuesday.
Florian, who was submitted in the fourth round by lightweight champ BJ Penn in event’s headliner, must undergo a CT scan of his facial bones and faces a 45-day minimum suspension, while Tamdan McCrory, who suffered a decision loss to John Howard on the UFC 101 prelims, must undergo an eye exam and be cleared by a doctor to return.
Griffin, Amir Sadollah, Dan Cramer, and Danillo Villefort were all issued 30-day suspensions.
The complete list of suspensions and injuries included:
- Kenny Florian: Must have CT scan of facial bones; minimum 45-day suspension.
- Forrest Griffin: 30-day suspension for precautionary reasons.
- Amir Sadollah: 30-day suspension for precautionary reasons.
- Tamdan McCrory: Must have a full eye exam and be cleared by a doctor to return.
- Dan Cramer: 30-day suspension for facial cuts.
- Danillo Villefort: 30-day suspension for facial cuts.

Nice….they should throw an extra 30 days onto Villefort for yelling “I cant see” during the fight and then having it promptly stopped and then they should add another 30 days onto Griffin’s for pulling a hamstring for running out of the cage/arena/state/country so fast!
It look like it all just got too much for Forrest on the night. Shame I like the guy but running out the ring in my eyes is disrespectful. Martial arts is about honour, sort it out Forrest.
Martial Arts is a bout honor, but Forrest is human, he’s an emotional fighter, and honestly can you blame him? I know i would feel $hitty also if i lost like that. He got embarrassed by Silva, he did the same when Jardine knocked him out.
i understand what your point is but Forrest does have honor, he never makes excuses for his loses, it’s just a bit harder for him to take a loss like that, and it was his 2nd t(ko) loss in a row, he had just lost the belt to Evans by tko.
Don’t get me wrong Forrest is in my top 10 fighters with ease. Forrest is a top fighter but Silva is just one of them guys you get at the very top which just makes you think top guys are going in slow motion.
Just would have loved to hear his usual sports man banter.

yeah i was wrong, i thought Forrest would come in and beat SIlva but he came in and got embarrassed, i admit it dude, i was wrong, but i still think that Silva is not as great as everyone says he is, he just hasn’t fought a guy who is really gonna come in to whip his a$$ and not be afraid.

I don’t remember who it was….Junkie? Bloodyelbow? One of the more respected sites was running with it hard. A lot of times their info turns out to be accurate, so I went with my gut that something was wrong.
A lot of people went with it, but I think the initial report was from the sun or something… you know how that story goes…

it seems to me like everyone is going on and on about how forrest left the ring and how big of a deal it was… hell it feels like this has dragged on longer than lesnars post fight speach
Its only a big deal because it is Forrest and not his style to do that! If there is one guy in the UFC that fans love to hear talk after a win or loss, it is Forrest! I think a lot of it had to do with speculation of an injury, his emotional distress, or plain and simple where he went! Everybody loves the guy and wants to know what is up! I don’t think that everyone reading his book helped because when you read a book like that you feel like you know him a little better!
I guess I understand why he did it but it needs to come to an end. You win like a champ and you lose like a champ. If you can’t handle defeat, maybe you shouldn’t fight.
Considering Forrest Griffin’s accomplishments in MMA and value to the UFC, I’m willing to overlook the occasional minor meltdown.
It isn’t like running back to the locker room is on the unsportsmanlike conduct level of Lesnar or Cantwell or one of the Diaz boys.
For all those out there that are taking the time to post negatively towards Forrest Griffin, I’d suggest you pick up and read his NY Times bestselling book, “Got Fight?” if you think you know whats going on in his head.

It was a good read and I don’t think he would be the fighter he is without that mentality. I forgave him for the Jardine fight becuase he was still pretty inexperianced in the fight game and it was his first hard lost. But he’s been tko’d a few times now and he should learn how to take his lumps. I didn’t think I was out of line in saying I thought he could afford to show a little more sportsmanship. Brock Lesnar is a bad winner as Forrest Griffin is a bad loser. In pro sports you win and lose, losing is hard, and it’s tough to accept sometimes. You can stand in the cage and watch the other guy get his hand raised though as your opponents have done in the past. I think it’s pretty disrespectfull and i’ve never really been a fan of Forrest because of his running away from defeat, thats all.
