I hate Miguel lost but like Faber he can come back better and not as reckless and careless in his striking.!!

Kris I need you to shoot me an e-mail

    • Gunslinger says:

and like faber he will fall again

      • OnlyTrue1 says:

Honestly if he hadn’t got sloppy he had that fight but hey thats the way mma goes.

      • Jenkinsss says:

        I agree with Gunslinger.
I think its just like Mike Brown and Urijah Faber.
In this case, Bowles is Torres’ kryptonite.
        Just my opinion.

      • jcohl says:

Gun, Faber didn’t “fall”, he gutted out a 5 round decision loss with TWO damaged hands. I highly doubt Faber would have lost that second fight otherwise, which is why he’ll get another crack as soon as he’s cleared.
        As will Torres.
The WEC needs Faber and Torres as champions, and not Bowles and Brown. It’s business, plain and simple.
In terms of the sport some might think it great that guys like Brown and Bowles came along and unseated popular champions and names on everyone’s p4p list, but for an MMA promotion on a tight budget like the WEC is this is an absolute nightmare.

I’m almost thinking the UFC should shut down the WEC and simply hold UFC title matches at 145 and 135. The UFC brand is synonymous with MMA in North America, and the WEC is sort of unnecessary, no?
I’d much rather see Faber and Torres crowned as UFC FW and BW champions when they get their rematches…

        jcohl,
There are some rumors out there that what you suggested just might happen, I can’t say that I would be wholly opposed to seeing it, but at the same time it is kind of nice to get two Zuffa events in one weekend occasionally.

      • jcohl says:

I’m thinking that maybe Zuffa will play out their Versus/WEC TV contract, and then take a look at whether or not it is in their best interests to run the WEC as a separate entity, of just fold the rest of their organization into the UFC.
Really good point about 2 Zuffa events in one weekend, which was something I hadn’t thought of.
Something that did crack me up is the thought that the WEC would have longer lasting brand visibility than PRIDE.
        Who saw that coming?

Please don’t get me wrong. I like the WEC, and would have originally preferred if Zuffa had left them their WW MW, and LHW divisions. The WEC seemed like an ideal “farm system” type deal for Zuffa to feed the UFC, but obviously that idea didn’t fly.
I also like Frank Mir’s color commentary, and I’m assuming that if the WEC is absorbed, Mir will be out of a commentating gig.
Plus the WEC put on some decent cards and great fights, and the sport is better served with more healthy, responsibly run promotions out there spreading the gospel of MMA.

I once read a really cool idea that the WEC should have higher weight classes between the UFC weight classes, such as 195, or 220, but thats less likely to happen than the often-called for resurrection of PRIDE.
I just think in the final analysis that Zuffa should either flesh out the WEC with divisions at 170, 185, and 205, and work to get them on a network with more market spread than Versus, or fully incorporate their LW, FW, and BW rosters and close the lights on the WEC for good.
Keeping them around flies in the face of conventional business wisdom regarding splitting your franchise IMO…

  • Jenkinsss says:

At the ufc 101 press conference Dana White was questioned about possibly having the WEC divisions moved to the UFC (145lb, 135lb).
But Dana White said “yeah, ive thought about it…but i have thought about alot of stuff so..” or something like that. I honestly dont think we will see FW and BW divisions in the UFC for a while.

Just got back in….. the fights were great but Hard Rock sucks…
