Drew McFedries, who contracted staph along with Spencer Fisher and Tim Sylvia several days ago, has been sidelined for a reported 6 to 8 months according to MMA on Tap. Though the exact timetable for his return is unknown definitively is is safe to say we won’t be seeing him before the end of the year.

Drew McFedries got hit the worst, suffering from an infection which grew to the size of a football on the back of his leg. The infection required surgery and McFedries had a good amount of skin removed from the back his leg which will now require graphs.
McFedries trains with Miletich Fighting Systems in Iowa and holds a 6-2 MMA record. Losing his debut to Nate Quarry McFedries rebounded to defeat 4 straight oppenents to make his way into the UFC. In his debut bout McFedries defeated Alessio Sakara by TKO late in the first round to emerge victorious. After dropping his next bout to the very tough Martin Kampmann McFedries faced Jordan Radev at UFC Fight Night 10. McFedries won the bout by KO in just 33 seconds.
