Kennedy vs. “Cyborg” To Headline September 25 Strikeforce Event in Oklahoma
A middleweight matchup between Tim Kennedy and Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos has been announced to headline a September 25 Showtime-televised “Strikeforce Challengers” event at the SpiritBank Event Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Kennedy (10-2), who recently joined the Texas National Guard after serving six-years with the US Army, returned to action in June after sitting out all of 2008, knocking out Nick Thomson in the second-round of their Strikeforce Challengers bout. A veteran of the IFL, Kennedy’s lone career losses came at the hands of notables Scott Smith (due to cut) in his pro debut and Jason “Mayhem” Miller in 2007, the latter of which snapped an 8-fight winning streak.
Santos (16-13), the husband of top female fight Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, also last fought at the June Strikeforce Challengers show, losing to Joey Villasenor in the card’s headliner, his second-straight loss and fourth in his last five fights dating back to 2007.

Why is Santos still a main event attraction? Do people really care that much about him? Does the winner of this get to fight Fedor? lol
Well he’s lost five out of his last seven fights, and you must recall that a man of Fedor’s impeccable stature even said that this promotion offers only the “highest” level of competition.
really pulling for kennedy on this one. i think that he definately has some talent and potential to grace the UFC one day.. not to mention i have to support a fellow veteran. this could be a groundbreaking win for him seeing as his only other notable wins against Jason Miller and Nick Thomson (although evangelista’s wife would probably beat him)
Cyborg is really only a draw because of the Guyborg he’s married to. Also, he’s not pictured here because his face shattered the lens.
i think shes kinda hot…
if strikeforce ever goes out of biz it will because of ****ty events like these, they think this is there way of building stars but its not gonna work like the ufc’s fight nights, because there is no way of people of knowing who there guys are, ufc has a reality show to showcase up and comers and people can get to know them over a period of time during each episode, no one gives a **** about anybody on this card let alone know who they are, they need to save these fights for under cards
