Dana's long range plan? What is it ? Does he have one?
The more the fighters fight the quicker they burn out through repetetive injury. Dana is fighting his own personal battle, with the need for immediate revenue vs. long term viability for each fighter which also "ultimately" effects revenue.

Any great fighter can loose on any given day. When they loose because of nagging injury and to many fights, the asset (fighter value) depreciates. On the flip side if the fighter is bringing in less $ per year, due to fewer fights, the UFC cant pay the fighter as much.

They need to arrange more personal appearances with media, such as tonight show, Letterman,etc.. Not Dana XXX The fighters need to promote ! Interest goes up. gates go up. Dana Makes more. Fighters are paid more but fight less. Fewer injuries.

What is your long range plan, Dana ?

In all honesty, you are just hearing more about the injuries now. Between media coverage ramping up and more shows by more promotions it just seems that way. Are certain cards being hit harder than others? Oh yeah big time but this isn't anything I'd worry about too much as far as a growing trend.

i realize MMA is a contact sport, but am i crazy in thinking that the last 12-18 months has been exceptionally bad for injuries? seems 2 or 3 times a week fighters are dropping out of fights. just bad luck? or a trend in which fighters are less likely to fight when not at 100%?
