The Ultimate Fighting Championship has begun announcing the line-up for its February 14th card in Broomfield, Colorado, and if you’re a fan of lighter weight fights, you will be pleased by the news.
Holloway (11-3) is currently riding a four fight win streak and has moved into the promotion’s #14 ranking as a result. Most recently, “Blessed” took out Akira Corassani in the opening round at a Fight Night card last month.
Miller (21-8) hasn’t fought since January when he tapped out Sam Sicilia. Prior to that, Miller worked his way to a decision win over Andy Ogle. The well rounded vet was supposed to fight Conor McGregor in July, but a thumb injury forced “Magrinho” to withdraw.
In flyweight action, the division’s #10 ranked Timothy Elliott has agreed to battle the #9 ranked Zach Makovsky. Elliott (10-5-1) has dropped bouts to Ali Bagautinov and Joseph Benavidez, after decisioning Jared Papazian and Louis Gaudinot.
Makovsky (18-5), on the other hand, is coming off a decision loss to Jussier “Formiga”, which snapped his four fight win streak. Since arriving in the UFC, the former Bellator champ has defeated Scott Jorgensen and Josh Sampo.
And in another bout at 125, Chris Kelades will take on Ray Borg. Kelades (8-1) is coming off a successful Octagon debut in October, when he decisioned Patrick Holohan at UFC FN 54.
Borg (7-1) has also impressed early on his in UFC run. After losing a tightly contested, split decision to contender Dustin Ortiz in April, Borg went on to choke out Shane Howell in June.
So, those are three promising fights for the UFC Fight Night card, which according to the announcement will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1. Clearly the Makovsky-Elliott bout is a big one in terms of rankings implications, as the loser could slip out of the coveted top ten.
The main event for the February 14th card has yet to be announced.
