UFC Fight Night 56 is set to kick off in Uberlandia, Brazil, which will feature “Shogun” Rua taking on Ovince Saint Preux in the headliner.

Colby Covington vs. Wagner Silva
Covington throwing plenty of kicks to start the fight. Silva attempts one of his own. Brazilian crowd solidly behind Silva. Both welterweights have thrown some hard shots but not much is landing. Covington blasts in with a double and gets Silva to the mat. Covington passes easily and starts looking for an arm-triangle. Silva scrambles to his feet. Covington lands a right hand and shoots in for another takedown. Silva defends for a while but Covington eventually gets him down. Round ends.
Round 2: Silva comes out firing but Covington counters with a takedown attempt. Once again, Covington takes Silva down. The latter gets back to his feet and the two are clinched up against the fence. Ref separates them due to a low blow to Silva. Covington lands a hard left hand but Silva shrugs it off. Covington clinches up with Silva again and is looking for a takedown. Fans start to boo. Round comes to an end.
Round 3: Covington shoots in and slams Silva to the ground. Covington’s working from the top and trying to pass Silva’s half guard. Silva’s taking some shots but nothing too heavy. Covington starts looking for the arm-triangle once again but Silva works back to full guard. Covington locks in a rear-naked-choke as Silva attempts to roll out. Yup. There’s the tap. The streak of finishes continues!

Tim Gorman vs. Thomas Almeida
Gorman comes out chucking shots and shoots in, but Almeida defends with a ninja choke attempt. Gorman defends and takes Almeida’s back. Gorman is trying to sink in a choke as Almeida is tossing back elbows. Almeida works his way free and lands a couple of shots, including an elbow. Almeida has some redness around his right eye. Gorman takes a left hand to the liver. Almeida continues to pursue Gorman and lands a couple of punishing shots and a knee. Gorman is stunned but briefly takes Almeida down. The latter continues to bring the pain but the round comes to an end.
Round 2: Almeida throws a front kick to begin the round. Gorman looks like he’s recovered but has eaten some hard punches. Almeida lands yet another shot to the liver and threatens with a knee. Almeida’s right eye is getting more swollen. The latter punishes Gorman with a hard kick to the leg. Almeida is throwing a ton of shots at Gorman but the bantamweight continues to fire back. Gorman’s mouthpiece gets knocked out of his mouth and the fight is momentarily stopped. Gorman lands some hard shots after the action resumes. The round ends.
Round 3: Gorman comes out with a barrage of shots to begin the round. Almeida is pressing forward but takes a punch for his efforts. Almeida pushes Gorman back with a counter right. Almeida follows up with a nice combination. Lots of movement from Gorman but he eats a knee. Both men continue to throw punches. Almeida backs Gorman up with a left and a kick to the body. Gorman changes levels but Almeida defends. Final buzzer sounds and the run of finishes comes to an end…

Charlie Brenneman vs. Leandro Silva
Brenneman shoots in early but Silva defends. Brenneman comes in with a single leg and eventually takes Silva down. The latter already has a large lump on his forehead courtesy of a Brenneman elbow. Silva works his way back to his feet and in the ensuing scramble, winds up on top of Brenneman on the ground. Brenneman pops back up and takes Silva back down. Silva reverses but the American gets back to his feet. Silva slips to Brenneman’s back and sinks in a rear-naked-choke. Brenneman is forced to tap.

Trevor Smith vs. Caio Magalhaes
Magalhaes chucks a hard right hand to begin the middleweight scrap. Magalhaes stuns Smith a left hand and knee to the head, and the latter falls to the mat. Magalhaes finishes the deal with a flurry of vicious hammer fists (several of which were to the back of the head). Wow.

Rodolfo Rubio vs. Diego Rivas
Rivas throws an overhand right but is countered by Rubio. The latter attempts a flying knee but winds up on the mat. Rivas is working from the top position. Rubio attempts to push off the fence with his legs but is unable to. The two get back to their feet. Rubio slips behind Rivas and pulls him to the ground. Rivas is looking for a triangle but can’t find it. In ensuing scramble Rivas winds up on top and is working from within Rubio’s guard. Rivas postures up and throws a couple of shots. Round ends.
Round 2: Rivas wings a high kick to begin the round but misses. Rivas lands a right straight and then a left hook. Rubio tosses a right knee at Rivas. A few moments later, Rivas chucks a big right and then takes Rubio down. Rivas is in Rubio’s half guard and then passes. Just as Rivas goes to mount Rubio, he executes a beautiful sweep. Rubio starts kneeing Rivas to the back. Now Rubio is in mount and Rivas gives up his back. Rubio attempts an armbar and gives up position. Round ends.
Round 3: Rubio lands a front kick early on. Action slows. Rubio attempts a single leg takedown but can’t get it. Rubio slips to Rivas back and pulls him to the mat. Rivas reverses and winds up on top. Rivas passes and is in mount, but Rubio bucks him off. After scramble Rivas remains on top. Final buzzer goes.
