UFC FN 56 Loses Ian McCall Versus John Lineker

Kelsey Mowatt

Ian McCall

If you were pumped to watch Ian McCall throw down with John Lineker tonight at UFC Fight Night 56 (as you should have been), you’re day is about to go south.

The UFC has announced that McCall has been forced to pull out of the flyweight contender fight due to illness. Yup. McCall-Lineker is off, and because this is all going down right before the event, obviously no replacement will be recruited.

According to a report from MMA Junkie.com, McCall is suffering from a viral infection.

So, that is extremely unfortunate news, as McCall-Lineker had all the makings of a fantastic bout. In addition, it would have featured the promotion’s #3 ranked flyweight in McCall taking on the #6 positioned Lineker, and had title shot implications riding on it as a result.

UFC FN 56 will take place in Uberlandia, Brazil and will feature “Shogun” Rua taking on fellow, light-heavyweight contender Ovince Saint Preux in the main event.
