Toughill Tapped as Reserve For Carano vs. Cyborg
Originally rumored to be a participant on the August 15th “Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg” fight card, Erin Toughill has instead been tapped as a reserve combatant for the events headlining bout. Should either of the scheduled participants, Gina Carano or Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, be forced to withdraw, Toughill will take their place. According to a report from MMAFanhouse Strikeforce director of communications Mike Afromowitz confirmed Toughill’s role Thursday.
Toughill is a former Palace Fighting Championship competitor, who has amassed a 10-2-1 record in her MMA career. Her only loss in her last ten bouts was due to a disqualification for elbows at Smackgirl ‘World ReMix 2004.’ She has also garnered a professional boxing record of 8-2-1, but hasn’t competed in the sport since 2006.
Also of note, Toughill joined Carano on the second season of American Gladiators as “Steele”, the show has since been cancelled.

First off, she is attractive and yes comments are going to be made about that… But honestly women fighters are some of the coolest people/fighters to hang out with, their passion for MMA is tremendous.. Some fighters are sexy, hott, and such but when I hung out with Tate and her “crew” (which included her, man) you realize that ya she is attractive (even after that brutal bout she just had) and she is all about fighting and being a fighter, becoming more complete as a fighter, I enjoyed it alot..
now that is out of the way, I’m kinda suprised that Sarah Kaufmann didn’t get the “nod” to be put in, just in case, but hey so be it.
I hope that she won’t have to be on the card that would be a damn shame..

dude i understand where your coming from, and you are right these kind of reactions don’t really help out Womens MMA much.
I just want to point out something. I have great respect for Womens MMA and Womens Sports in general, but come on dude…seriously, if a woman is hot, she’s hot and thats that.
MMA has millions of female fans that go crazy for fighters and have crushes and etc…., but they respect them as fighters…
example: my cousin is in love with Georges St. Pierre, she loves his body and all that, but his talent and him as a fighter inspired her to take MMA classes, my point is that just because she thinks he’s hot doesn’t mean she doesn’t have respect for him.
I thik that Erin Toughill is waaayy fine, but that doesn’t take away the respect i have for her as a fighter, it honestly doesn’t have anything to do with me having respect or no respect, she’s hot as hell and thats that. I hope you get what i’m trying to say.

If anything this thread just made Erin Toughill more famous than she was before, i know i’m a new lifetime member of her fanclub…
First off, I was mostly goofing about all the comments, frenZied friends.
I’ve worked and lived in or near hot chick ground zero for like 10 years [LasVegas], so I have a pretty good eye for females, and Toughill is a legitimate 9 in the 30-35 year old bracket.
That being said, I also need to point out that Toughill was married to a pretty damned good MW MMA fighter and Erik Paulson submission wrestler named Clark “The Irish Bulldog” Bevans, who has g-n-p’ed and catch-wrestled his way to an 8-1 record against decent oppostiion.
Erin Toughill about a year ago beat Bevans so badly, and frequently, that HE had to go to court and get a restraining order against HER, which from where I come from is pretty fu<ked up right there. The last thing I want to do if I'm some bad-a$$ MMA fighter and catch-wrestler is to go into court and go on the record with the fact that my woman is kicking my a$$ repeatedly, American Gladiator or not.
I mean, for real, this guy Bevans owns a gym out near Huntington Beach, where MMA is hot. Are you really going to sign up and train at a gym run by a guy getting his di<k kicked in by a chick 35 pounds lighter than he is?
Think about it.
Toughill has boxed, done MMA, and competed in Vale Tudo successfully, and clearly has no issue with man-woman violence, which to me equals bat-sh!t crazy.
Bottom line is that I'd rather wake up with a 30something 5 or 6, and still have all my teeth when we go hit the breakfast buffet at the Mirage, than wake up with a fine 9 like Toughill and be rocking a grill like Hendo.

It could be that he took out the restraining order because the alternative response to her hitting him is hitting back, which is far from socially acceptable.
I get what your saying about striking a woman, bsbiz, but it is ok then to engage her in the grappling and submission aspects of MMA if exchanging strikes is “far from socially acceptable?

Although I’ll be bummed if either Gina or Cyborg can’t fight, they got a real ringer here for a reserve fighter if they need her. Many in the MMA world feel that Erin can beat Gina and/or Cyborg because she is one tough woman. Good call by Strikeforce.
There is also talk that whoever wins between Gina/Cyborg will have to defend her belt against Erin.
I do know there is rumor that this Erin Toughill (pronounced toe-hill) can be a psycho, though. She’s had restraining orders put on her because she beat down her husband twice, once on their honeymoon (but he’s an MMA fighter, too). But who knows what thats all about.
Anyhow, if female MMA continues to grow, I’ll bet she’ll become just as recognizable in the future as Gina Carano is now.

Toughill is attractive. Of course her picture is flattering! It shows she’s spent countless hours training to fight.
I admire her devotion: it takes a lot for me to drag myself to just 4-5 classes a week. I train in taekwondo, kickboxing, and MMA at the martial arts school where I work as a massage therapist. Mount? Triangle? I’ve heard it all. It’s no longer funny or offensive. It’s just part of training. I try to “blend in” by wearing two sports bras to downplay my huge boobs. The truth: it’s natural to notice curves.
Fighters with winning records tend to give the media/fans enough to talk about without resorting to re-hashing the “good looks” topic. We shall see if her looks are the only thing people are talking about after her (eventual) big break.
