Less than a week after the UFC confirmed that Ronda Rousey will throw down with Cat Zingano on January 3rd, the promotion has announced that the bantamweight champ will in fact face the latter on February 28th.
Yes, as you’ve probably heard, that’s the same date that Vitor Belfort recently said he’ll battle middleweight champ Chris Weidman.
Well, in a follow up announcement from the UFC, Dana White has confirmed that both title fights will take place at UFC 184. The announcement also includes White throwing a bit of verbal shot Belfort’s way, for announcing the fight prematurely…
The card will be hosted by the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
So, clearly that’s a huge event for L.A., considering it features two of the UFC’s biggest American stars in Rousey and Weidman, as well as two title fights.
Belfort and Weidman were initially set to meet on December 6th at UFC 181, but the champion incurred a hand injury and the fight was postponed. That card will feature welterweight champ Johny Hendricks taking on Robbie Lawler, and lightweight champ Anthony Pettis versus Gilbert Melendez.
